Thanks. I haven't met a teacher I didn't like and love. So that is why i always personalize each gift. Since my 3rd grade teacher is a newlywed, and loves gingham, I'm thinking something special with some cool ribbons. Our 5th grade teacher is a guy, great guy. Loves jokes. I might try to find a good joke book for him.

Thanks for posting this.

Penny?!? Wow - Besides my own mother I have actually never met another Penny.

Congrats on joining us. Certainly check out post #10 on the first page. I'd give you more info, but alas I am not Admiral Andrew who is on vacation for a few days.

A famous quote around here for newbies - 'just jump in there'. I did that, and i think I have added 100 posts in the course of 2 weeks now. You'll get the hang of it.

Was your mother a Penelope too???

ok, it looks like we are close to ordering lanyards. Just waiting on:
caven553
sandaneli
donic
10yrann

Let me know if you have payment on its way. Maybe its here and I don't know it.

Ok, we were talking about scrapbooks. Here are some pics of mine. sorry about the quality, my scanner isn't big enough to fit the whole page:

Good enough quality to get the point across. I love your pages, now I just have to start on mine. I started one back in 2000, collected all the DL postcards each year to symbolize adding a new section. Still just all the pieces and nothing to show for it.

i really need to quit my job - or take a 6 month holiday.

Kyla,

I mailed the check on Tuesday. I don't know how your mail is but I would think it should be there by tomorrow.

Sandra

Hey Aurora, thx for sharing! It sounds like your son is in a good place. My school has resource (separate classes), inclusion (when they're in a regular class but with support) and then regular (when students are totally "mainstreamed.") We host a wide spectrum of autism students. I am a former special education teacher. I had joined the sped ed ranks to be a better "regular" ed teacher and ended up "special" for several years. Hopefully, eventually, I will get to be "regular" with some "special" friends in my class.........that's my goal, anyway!

:grouphug:

tis a great goal. Not sure if you have access or not, I don't have the links. but the Mind Institute at UC Davis is where our district is getting their info. My older brother is a Dr. there, so i have heard a lot about their studies. it's really cool info, and great resources for teachers.

Well good night all. My DH finally came home early. Since I haven't seen him in a week I am going to close the notebook and spend time with him.

Hey Aurora, I have a daugher who is special needs with a rare syndrome called Cri Du Chat. We live on a small island in the Caribbean which has been a great place for her to grow up, she's 14. She's on the beach and in the water all the time and she has a lot of freedom. The schools aren't as advanced as the US but it suits her well. She LOVES the Disney princesses and Aurora is her Favorite followed closely by Areil! princess:

I'm so glad things seem to be working out for this cruise. :woohoo:

Praying for good weather and calm seas as well.:goodvibes

Sandra

We're also arriving 7/27 and staying at the AC Barcelona. Perhaps if any of us are awake, we can get together to figure out how to make our way to the magic fountain.

Hi ,
I have a 17 year old son who is going on the cruise so tell your daughter that there is at least one other teenager on board! Penny

My neices are 17 & 21, nephew 18 - It sounds like there will be quite a few in those age groups on board.

We are truly falling apart without him............:confused3

This is sad - now we're going to have to live with Andrew's :snooty: ( :lmao: )

Sorry about the summaries 1am here so not tonight hopefully I can catch up tomorrow, today was work. Lots of family stuff going on my brother's wife's mother died yesterday and I was with my mum because her brother had been taken to hospital and it would have been too long a drive for my step father to have taken her to the hospital on the Isle of Wight, so lots of taxiing people around and saying comforting stuff.
I see there has been all sorts of Pirate shenanagins whilst I've been away. Play nicely tonight everyone. :wizard:

Lynn - so sorry - hoping that some  and more :grouphug: and pixiedust: come your way. Go! Be safe and come back when you can.

And she got tagged within that same week too! It took me well over 1 year to get tagged if not more. Then BOOM! within the last 4 months - I got tagged twice more! Its fun when you get tagged! Makes one feel  and on :cloud9: . Amazing what a little tag can do. :cutie:

Ok all - here's what's been happening.

1. Scary home situation still on hold. I'm playing ostrich in the hopes that things aren't really happening. :upsidedow

2. Came home from dinner last night to find that our 'girls' had escaped their cell (backyard) :scared1: and were runnig loose. Luckily, some  happened to hear them in their yards and went out to investigate. Isis (our B&W) came into their yard because she'd seen their cat. Chloe - our white dog - is a follower and clumsy as heck so SHE ran into their trashcan and knocked it over. Well, they recognized them from DD and I walking them periodically and knew they were local so even though they look intimidating - she took a chance and tried to catch them. They both had their collars on but it took a while. Eventually they rounded them up and took them inside. They WONDERFUL people put their own dogs in the back (theirs are inside dogs too) and allowed my "brats" ( ) to stay inside. Once they were inside - they went directly to the dogs blankets and laid down. Chloe was the first to allow them to pet her and that was when they got a chance to read the tags. Because it was late - they didn't catch our address on the tag but did a reverse phone number lookup and caught our address that way. Amazingly - they'd been out for about a 1/2 hr. The  lady said that they were very skittish and scared and their hearts were really pounding but once inside they settled down - well the white one did - Isis - would just pace but would settle down long enough to be spoken and head patted only. Chloe would lie down and roll over to have her tummy scratched along with her neck. That Dog is a sucker for neck rubs. She's easily bought!;)

Anyway, since we got back late, I was scared to see this person standing inf front of DH's car wearing a black hoodie and 'casing' out the house but it turns out that my angel was just leaving an additional note telling us where to find the dogs. Bless her heart. Her house is on the corner of a MAJOR HEAVILY TRAVELED THOROUGHFARE! :scared1: We were extremely lucky that they weren't run over. I know exactly what happened/ Isis broke through our very old wooden gate and the rope holding it together busted. She took off and Chloe followed. Even though they are micro-chipped. These dogs rarely are turned back in. In fact, there has been a rash of husky-napping around here. So I consider myself extremely blessed that my girls are back home! THANK YOU GOD! AND MY GIRLS ANGEL!

Now I really must do something good for them. I was thinking some kind of fruit basket or something like that - would do you guys think? I didn't even think about a reward but I did ask her what I could do to thank her. Her response - do something nice for someone else. What a lady I tell you. And a wonderful experience in meeting a new/old neighbor. She's lived there for years but out here -if your more than 2 houses away - we're basically all strangers. She said that while she was scared to approach them she had a hunch they were inside dogs as Chloes coat was too white and shiny to look like they were outside dogs.

3. I have signed on to do the WB Transatlantic Repo cruise. I was 'informed' this morning by a friend that she managed to book some of the last cat 12's that went on special. I thought about this, checked with DH and DD14 about going. While DD wasn't happy - she said - go ahead. I know you need time away. DH said that if this is what I want to do then I should go ahead as we may never have another year like the kind we're having. VERY BUSY at work. HHHMMMM...wonder if he is just trying to get me out of his hair? Oh who cares - as long as I get to visit some of my childhood longings. I always thought it would be nice to visit the rock of Gilbralter. Now, I'm going to get the chance. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I've always wanted to see it ever since as a child, anyone remember those traveling encyclopedia salespeople that would sell thos special, classic books? You spent lots of $$ for color pictures - an 'heirloom' to pass on to your kids? Yeah - those - well, back in '72 or thereabouts my father bought them for us kids and I remember looking at this 'special' place in the world and saying to myself - I'm going there one day. I'm happy because I get to knock off another one of my places-to-visit-before-I-die list. I truly am blessed to have such a wonderful life.

And that brings me back to my original point - sorry its so long - just when I think I'm having a bad time, I get knocked up alongside my head and makes me open my eyes to realize - I truly am blessed. I could have lost 2 very important people WELL OK - their dogs - but their still family and instead I still have them. My girls are alive and well - the human ones that is and DH is super supportive and happy that I'm going. (I'm leaving that one alone ;) ) What more could a girl ask for?

Ok - on to introduce myself to the other thread! Final payment being made Friday at 3 pm EST. :woohoo: :woohoo:

I have 2 boys and a girl. DS 17 ( barely survived the 16's, DD 14 sweet as can be and DS 12 sports fanatic.

Hi Penny
Here is a link to the tween/ teen thread. The majority posting are the tweens (8-14), I think the 16 and up crowd may need their own thread, which I could start if there is interest! :confused3 :confused3

Andrew and Helen should be back posting tomorrow!!!:cool1: :cool1:   :yay: :yay: :cheer2: :cheer2:
