We rescheduled a cruise from March to July 24. I know this may very well not happen, but only time will tell. I did keep the reschedule a secret from our girls DD 10 and DD 7 so they will not be disappointed a second time. If we need to reschedule a third time, I have no clue when to look. I am limited as my kids are in school and I work in their school system as a nurse as well as a local hospital in the ICU. Thoughts on Holiday cruises, Halloween or Christmas Cruises. My fear is it will be too cold to swim in the Bahamas/Caribbean.

We are pretty much in the same boat. I'm holding off until I see if they adjust the school calendar for next year.

Traveling is our favorite thing to do, but we might be staying put for a while. DD17 graduates next June and wants to go to Europe. We might not travel until then (summer 2021).

We've been to CC 3 times in Jan. I find the water chilly, but there's always a ton of people enjoying it. We've been to the Caribbean 3 times, also in Jan and the water was fine, air temps in the 80s. I understand you may not be able to go in Jan, but if you could go during Christmas break, the weather should be the same. Do you get a break from school in Feb? If so, the prices would be less than during Dec.

Not a big enough one to include travel to and from. I am torn. I am making no decision until after the cancelation or sail of July. Maybe I just take the FCC if offered and see how things evolve. My type A personality is struggling lol

Do you have a Fall break? If it does cancel I wouldn’t rush to rebook I think we’ll see discounts.

How cold the water feels really depends on you and likely where you are from. I was in Bermuda last September and the water was chilly to my southern bones. My New York traveling companions thought it was perfect.

The kids seem to enjoy the pool no matter how cold, so at least there is that. LOL

we have been to cc both over xmas and presidents week total 6 times. My kids always go in the water. on the islands we usually do a catamaran as one excursion each cruise and never felt it was too cold. Fingers crossed we are booked to go New Years this year.
Stay Healthy, thanks for being a dedicated nurse.

I would choose Thanksgiving, as the kids will be off from school, it is a merrytime cruise, and weather should be warmer than December through February.

We did CC for Xmas as well as late March and thought it was a bit too cold to go into the water. Younger kids went in but older kids were too smart for that and went back to the ship.

If your July one gets cancelled too, I would book for one in late 2021. I think this year’s Halloween, Thanksgiving/Christmas time would be too soon

We have done two Merrytime sailings one over Thanksgiving and one over Christmas. The weather was ideal in November. The water was a little chilly in December but later in the day it was no problem to get in the water at CC. We have a July sailing booked also and fingers crossed we are on it if not we are currently looking at Thanksgiving, NYE or next spring break.

Good Luck!

I understand completely! We were scheduled on the 7/25 Fantasy and are now on the 12/19 Fantasy (Christmas) cruise. I'm a teacher so my options were limited, but this worked. I was fairly confident my July cruise would happen when this all started back in March, that changed in early April. I was confident the Christmas cruise would happen, but I am becoming less certain each day. I now have another plan forming; we're on a 5-day double dip next summer. If the Christmas cruise doesn't happen we'll add the 9-day that follows our 5-day. Bottom line: we'll get on a DCL again one day... :P

I literally have no idea if this cruise will sail, certainly not confident. As a medical professional working in the hospital during all this, I change my mind every day on how I think things are looking. Part of me thinks it will get better and then I change my mind. I am grateful that if anyone gets disappointed this time it will only be me, I can handle it! The looks on my girl's faces, if they knew we had to cancel again, would kill me.

Thank you, everyone, for your options and thoughts. I think, for now, I will ride out July and Take the FCC if need be. I will probably wait for things to settle. Heck, who knows what the school calendar for next year will look like! I do know one thing, I have girls who will swim in ice-cold water, me, not so much lol. But the day we can SAFELY step foot back on DCL will be AMAZING! and totally worth the wait. Stay safe everyone!

We did have pretty cold water at CC the one time we cruised in winter--had to drag my teeth chattering kids out of it though--they really wanted to swim! I think the bigger issues than cold water though is (1) even setting aside covid, winter is peak flu and norovirus season. one that one winter cruise, my DH got noro and was quarantined, so we decided never again; and (2) winter months are the peak time for DCL to miss castaway cay due to rough seas--so you may not get the chance to swim even if you are willing to brave the chilly water.

Thanksgiving would be closer to the start of flu season as well (instead of further in). Depending on where COVID testing is at that point in time, the flu could play a huge part in sail ability too.
