Hey fellow Disney addicts. As some of you know we were planning a big trip (4 families) from Canada and we would of had our first of 5 park days today :( As we are talking about next summer (we all have our tickets so everyone still wants to go) we were looking at dates. Traditionally my family likes to go the mid to late July but one of the other families has a cruise booked for late July. Therefor we are looking at going early July. Is there any advantage to going early July to late July or vice versa? I know it all depends on what the world is doing but we still like to figure things out ahead of time! Thanks for any input you might have!!!

In the past I would say you will see no noticeable advantage either way. Of course the July 4 weekend is typically very, very busy so if your plans include that weekend there will be a difference. But July 7-14 isn't any difference than 21-28.

2021 is going to so difficult to estimate. Will it be busier than normal because of 2020? Will people still be reluctant to travel?

So traditionally not a huge difference! Thanks! What about weather? much difference there?
Between the first two weeks of July and the last two weeks of July there is very little difference. Not enough to make a vacation decision.

An aside: its unseasonally cool right now. It got hot (32 °C) late June/early July but has been around 23°C for the last week. Quite unusual. It's usually +/- 32°C during all of July.

We were looking back at 4 years ago now and it was 35. This year the temperature would of been perfect! Oh well, next year will be great no matter the temperature!!!

Ain't that the truth! It's been so nice here this July. 2019 was nice most of the month, too: +/- 25 all month.

Since this is a 5 day visit, I would recommend going in early July to see the Independence Day fireworks, Independence Day World of Color pre-show and planning to see the regular fireworks on a different night assuming these are still happening in 2021. The July 4th stuff typically runs for several nights so you usually don't have to watch on the exact day. I think crowds for July 4th aren't as bad as many blogs make them out to be, especially if you're comparing with later in July. My experience has been that crowds are lower than usual in the morning and early afternoon but Main Street gets packed starting a couple hours before the fireworks.

Disneyland's birthday on July 17 will be another day to watch out for because there's typically a cavalcade and other special photo opportunities or free gifts.

Given that crowds are going to be high in late July anyway, I would try to be at Disneyland for Independence Day or Disneyland's birthday. If you can manage it, I would wait until much closer to your travel dates to know if these things are still happening or if the virus situation changes anything.

@Bossy22 howdy to a fellow Albertan. We went in early Aug (a number of years ago now) and it was really HOT lol. I would think it would be the same in July. We are hoping to go next May 2021. Hope things work out but I am feeling quite pessimistic at the moment. Good luck in the planning.

I'm leaning toward booking our standby hotel (DI&S) for July 11-21. We're not American so independence day isn't a real draw but we have been there on DL birthday in the past and getting a pin or such is always fun! We are thinking of 5 days at DL/CA with hoppers and 1 day at Sea world (it's been awhile since we have done Sea World but we all really enjoyed it). Last time we did Sea World we were able to get a bus ride down free with our tickets for admittance which was awesome. As we were looking for this summer (and now next summer) we assume we will have to drive which isn't that appealing but when there's 17 of us paying for a ride down for each is $$$$. Oh well, missing being there right now but quite excited for next year!!! Let's hope 2021 is way better than 2020 lol!!!

Thanks!!! We have went 6 times in late July or early August and 2 of the times were deadly hot!!! We don't mind a little heat but they were very hot!!! The other 4 times were decently hot but not overly hot!!! 26-30 most days. Way better than our 35 every day 4 years ago!!!

Early July weather tends to be better; as we head to August higher chances of Santa Anas, but still most July really weather wise ok. Crowds around July 4th and 17th.

Also need to watch D23 announcement for potential 17th too and couple with delayed celebration of 65th -- so something to be careful on planning.
