Welcome to the July 2011 No Buy thread. Whether you are a No Buy Veteran or just trying it out for the first time all are welcome.

There are no set rules which means you can set up your budget anyway you would like and report as you see fit.

I hope to see the familiar faces and some new ones as well.

Thanks for starting this!

Where's Piglet, your staycation looked like so much fun! And those beignets.....yum!

Thanks! Oh, they are good stuff! Now I want them again. :rotfl:

I'm glad everyone enjoyed the photos too!

:cool1:28 sleeps till we hit the USA this month needs to be a big saving one:)

Good luck! I replied to your question about New Orleans on the last No Buy thread. :thumbsup2 I hope you can save a lot this month and that your USA trips is amazing!

So today we spent $7.12 of our eating out money at McDonalds. It was horrible and I think was bad enough to turn me off of clown boy for a long time.

I spent $29.57 at the grocer and $2 at the farmers market. I am happy with that!

I also spent $28.02 on 4th of july goodies. My little ones is really into all this and it's the first time the city has allowed residents to shoot them. It's been like a festival for a week now it's great. DF's Dad's house is on top of one of the highest hills and we can see half of the city. We spent 2 hours watching others before we set off our own little show :)

Balances: Grocery (118.43/150) Eating out (67.88/75) Biz (196.23/200)

7-2 $66.71 (82.98 running total)

7/2 0

Working per diem job thisncoming Thur/fri so extra gas money and figuring out food while gone from home for 2 nights.

Can't wait to see how I do and figure out a solid plan for August.

Fought the urge to buy some cute HP and Pirate's stuff (75% off!) at Hot Topic today with the help of DBF.

Good for you! This is EXACTLY the kind of success I'm aiming for.

My goal for July: don't buy stupid stuff

7/2: 0
7/1: $50 (gas card for neighbor and savings bond for nephew)

annsteere, I think the goal of not buying stupid stuff is far too difficult when I live 2 miles away from a flea market. :-)

After all, who does not need a toilet brush with a holder that has little dolphins floating around in it? ( yes, I have one. Don't judge.)

Or the stuff that you spray on your car to repel bugs ( how does THAT work? Does the bug know you have sprayed it before he comes flying into your windshield at 70 miles an hour? )

The t shirt that identifies you ? Examples: Divorced. I got the boat. Or.... hot mom. Makes it so much easier to decide who you might want to date.

And my favorite... the as seen on tv booth. You can expand the waistband on your pants for only $9.99 or clean anything with the Sham Wow!

Running Total: Spent $77

I think I need to be chanting louder!
I've been hit with wasps, and I need to add an organizer section (need lots of tubs to store things, although my final goal is to declutter, but in the mean time....

Virgderon! I LOVE your definition of necessary items from the flea market! I don't have the bug repellent, but I DO have a "few" Sham-Wows. ;) I know that this is going to be a difficult month, but it feels like I've already spent a fortune!

Unfortunately, this is going to be an expensive month for me.
  1. DD will be home (I think) from Egypt for the last week or two.
  2. I'm off for the summer, and my sanity is sending DH (SAHD) out to shop
  3. Need to get the garage door replaced.
  4. House needs repairs: painting, carpet, blinds etc.
  5. Changing classrooms means updating some things.
  6. I'm going 'over the river' to a Daily Café workshop with "The Sisters" :goodvibes

Oh, well, here's the budget as it stands.

Groceries/Household: $600 $53 ($512)
Drug co-pays/medicine/lens: $40 $0 ($75)

Pool expenses: $200 $0 ($0)

I am calling this day early. I went out to Starbucks with some friends this morning. We were there chatting for 3 hours. :thumbsup2 I spent $2.55 on an iced coffee, but I had a gift card so my out of pocket expenses were actually $0. The thing I am most proud about is that I left Starbucks at 12:45 and was hungry, and was so tempted to stop at any one of the several fast food places and snoball stands I drove past on my way home. However, I came home and had panini instead! So $0 it is! :thumbsup2

And I am changing back into my "at home clothes" (lounge wear) so I am less tempted to go back out today. :rotfl:

HAHAHA :rotfl2: Of course we all need a status shirt.

I've always wondered about getting a shamwow....

Do you guys know of the store Ardene? I can't remember if it's a Canadian-only store, but they pretty much sell the stuff that Claire's does for much cheaper. They often have $10 for 5 headbands or $10 for 5 pairs of socks or $14 for 2 fancy necklaces.

I love accessorizing and it's really hard not to at least BROWSE the store when I pass it. It has so much cute stuff!

IMALOVNDISNEY, great win at the casino!!! Wow!

Where'sPiglet, changing into my lounge wear is how -I- keep myself from going out too!

Mel, I've been wanting to watch Bad Teacher too. Good to hear it's entertaining!

I was planning on buying grocery to make lunch and dinner for the next couple of days, so it's not a $0 day for me. Instead of giving into$2-$3 iced coffee drinks, I've decided to make some simple syrup and just make my own drinks!
