July 18, 2007 07-18-07 Med Cruise

Formal night I usually wear a nice dress, but nothing overly fancy like I'm going to the Oscars. It isn't required that you wear a dress each night, but most women tend to wear a cute summer dress, skirt, pants with a nice top, etc. Your brother definitely doesn't need to wear a suit each night, either. Khakis and a nice collar shirt would be acceptable. I would say you are safe if you stay away from jeans and shorts.

Hi Everybody,

Looking forward to meeting all of ya'll soon.

I have a question, how formal is formal night? Are we talking long dress and white gloves or what? The other nights would capris and a nice top be fine or do you still need to wear a dress? And what about guys? My brother is not going to be happy if he has to wear a suit every night. We are from the south. Dreesing up to us is a nice pair of pants i.e. kahikis and a top even for church. DCL could be a little more helpful in this area instead of saying dress is cruise casual.

2 days until WDW and birhtday celebration:banana:

Hi Lissa

I saw it on medi forum

wonder if you have see it or not

show copy :

(We are planning on doing.

The guys:
* Formal/Semi Formal night(s) - a dress shirt, tie, slacks
* "Normal" nights: Polo shirt and "dockers" and/or slacks (remember that the clean polo you put on for dinner tonight can be worn on shore the next day - only need one shirt per day instead of two!!)
* Pirates night - see "normal" night
* daytime wear: in attempt to "blend in" (but we'll be the ones with the cameras and saying "look at all of those old buildings" ) we are wearing slacks and polo shirts on our touring days. Considering getting some of those "convertable/zip off leg" pants.
* shoes: ONE pair of reasonable looking comfortable black shoes (maybe all black tennis shoes, or Ecco or Rockports. Also will bring one pair of sandals or thongs (oops... I mean flip flops )

The gals: (ok, so this is much more difficult but...)
* Formal/Semi Formal night(s) - a dress, or nice pants suit, but probably better would be a skirt and blouse
* "Normal" nights: Skirts, capri's and blouses - coordinating, but different so you don't/won't be wearing "the same thing" every day/night (I know how much you hate that ). Bring a couple of scarfs to change the "look" of your outfit.
* Daytime wear: see "Normal" above. Here's where the scarf can also come in handy - many churches (Vatican especially) require knees and sholders to be covered. If you are wearing a sleavless blouse, a scarf can be used to cover your sholders, and if you're wearing shorts or a short skirt, a scarf can be wrapped around your waist to get your knees covered.
* Pirates night - same as normal
* shoes - OK, you can take as many as you can fit in YOUR suitcase - no fair making anyone else carry your shoes.

For everyone
* one swimsuit and one pair of shorts - for when we need to cool down.
* toiletries: as minimal as possibile and as small of a size as possible - purchase refills as needed before the cruise.)

Just wonder if that is help?

I have been reading posts regarding dress for us older "girls". I found out about a great line of clothing a few years ago. Put it to the test a few weeks ago on an extended trip to Florida. Just gathered the clothes, and then folded in half. They laid in my suitcase for 2 days in the car during travel and an additional 3 days at home (carpet installation delayed my unpacking:confused3 ).

Anyway, to get to the point, the line of clothing is sold at "Chico's". It is their "Travelers" line....get it :flower3: ! It is terrific. You can mix and match almost anything! I have tried to stay with the color black in the basics....pants, skirts, shorts, jackets....and just add colors with my tops. You can have an endless array of choices for the entire week. And!!!! They weigh practically nothing, so that means.........MORE ROOM FOR SHOES !!!! Anyway, you get the point. Check it out. You can order online. Only confusion is their sizing charts. They do explain them pretty easily. Hope this might help all of you. Good luck! I am counting the days till April 19th....Woo Hoo! :cloud9:

GOOD MORNING:wave:

WHAT A LOVELY DAY TODAY AND I AM DOING THE WASHING :laundy:

Happy Easter Fellow Cruisers!

We are still going over our excursion choices and still fine tuning them and making the final selections. So excited to be getting closer to booking them!

Are most folks thinking of including Pisa in the LaSpezia tours? Part of me really want to visit it, but seems like there are lots of other great choices for that port. Just wondering what everyone else is thinking of....

Have a great day all!

Anyway, I realize that a lot fewer people can book today than at 90 and 75 days, but maybe it's a good sign that everyone else on the thread will get what they want too!

We finally paid in full and are booked in a cat 3. We paid in full on 4-6-07 and after we went to go book our excursions. So I started choosing them all from the large menu with all the ports and I clicked everyone that I wanted no realizing that I could only do 1 at once so after I booked two I went to go get Lucca by Bike in La Spezia, which was available my first round through and I go to get it and it was gone  . So I called the conceirge and we missed them for the day and the weekend. So to make it short some excursions may be gone that you want by only 22 or so staterooms on the whole ship. I hope I get it somehow.

Yikes!! So it looks like some excursions are already booked up for our cruise?!? Sounds like there truly is some very limited availablility then for some of them. Hope they come up with some more openings....

I noticed that as I booked excursions, when I'd go back to the list some of the ones formerly available were missing. I thought it was due to something else though, like I had something else booked that overlapped. It wasn't anything I was interested in booking so I didn't think much of it. Also, when I first went into the website at exactly 3am on the 4th, not every excursion was listed. I wasn't sure why, but since it wasn't affecting me I didn't put much thought into it and really forgot till you mentioned this.

I hadn't really thought that they were sold out already though, cause it seemed really unlikely at the exact moment that booking opened, but who knows.:confused3 Maybe they're taking them off the website or withholding them till the 90 day or 75 day mark? What I mean is, maybe your excursion was booking up so they decided to cut off the 105 day people to save spots for the 90 day bookers? Or with the excursions that I never saw listed, maybe they aren't releasing them till the 90 or 75 day marks?

Carol - we're doing the Florence and Pisa tour assuming we can book it!

Hi

We would like to see Florence and Pisa tour, finger cross hopeful we all can booking it? As we think not bother it until my son asked me that he want see Rome and Florence. I think something to do with history for school.

Scottishwee35

Still mulling over the excursions here. Think we better hurry up and decide LOL!

Pisa is slowly coming off the short list. Is a great icon to view, but just does not seem to be much else to do...and not a short ride either.

Will keep you posted...

For us, Pisa is a must because our boys want to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa - they've read about it and it's an icon that they recognize from school, etc., so to see it live and in person will be very cool for them. One thing that we've had to do was remember that this is their vacation, too, so we're picking excursions based not just one what DH and i would like to see and do, but on what we know our kids will be able to handle. I'm a bit concerned about Rome and Florence/Pisa being back-to-back days and being long excursions for both, but also know that because there is significant drive-through-the-countryside time on the 2nd day, at least it won't be all-day-walking / touring and they can rest their "crumbling feet."

"Crumbling feet" started a few years ago after a commando-marathon-day at WDW and we were leaving the Magic Kingdom after 10 p.m. and our older son said he couldn't walk any further because his feet were crumbling. FWIW, the next morning, we took his cue and had a nice leisurely morning and slowed down. But you know what? I've had times when my feet were crumbling, too :)

I was going to have us skip Florence and do a half-day going to Pisa, but DH really wants to see Florence, so that's why we've ended up with cramming in both in a day.

Hi All

I am sooooooo excited I just booked a trip for the 14/10/2007 to 17/10/2007 to Disneyland Paris staying at the Disneyland Hotel in a :dance3:. It will be great to help them celebrate their 15th birthday.

Only 8 days until we can book excursions and 98 days until we sail. . I am just away to check the excursions on the DCL site and then make my final selection so I am ready for the 90 day mark. These are my choices so far.

Barcelona - Chocolate Factory
Naples - Mt Vesuvius hike & Pompeii
Rome - Jumping Back to Eternal Rome
La Spezia - Lucca Treasure Hunt
Villefranche - Create your own perfume
Palermo - Palermo for kids.

So actually the conceirge contracted us and they said they have been having some problems of excursions being avaliable. Anyway we got it. Justhat I noticed that also with some not being there; it could be because you already booked and excursion in that port. Thats what I think it is.

Hi Everbody,
Thanks for the clothing suggestions. Scottishwee35 thanks for the list I had not seen that forum but it was helpfull. We had a great time at WDW. The highlight was Easter Sunday which was also my birthday. We were tagged by the Dsiney Dream team and got to spend 30 minutes alone with Cinderella. Which may bot seem to be a big deal but Cinderella is my favorite and I was thrilled. The only problem was Delta decided to play lets cancell and delay flights on Friday so instead of getting home we got to spend Friday night in the Atlanta airport. Hope thay don't do that this summer. After spending time at WDW we are even more excited about the cruise!!!!!
Lissa:tinker:

Hi Tinkerbell_29! Seems we spend Easter the same way you did, only at an other Disney-park: we were in Disneyland Resort Paris during that time! Congratulations with your birthday, and we're also counting the days 'till the cruise now!
