We just got off the 7/1 cruise and rebooked for 7/15 because there was no 7 day. I was just looking for a thread too! I've never planned a cruise this far out before. I'm still trying to convince dh to go for a back to back, but so far, no go.
It'll be me, dh and ds5 (he'll be 6 when we cruise). He's a Matthew too!!! And a daredevil. He went on Expedition Everest twice!
We cconsidered a back to back but opted for a few days at WDW instead - we haven't been since everest opened so the boys are looking forward to it - and my Matthew (his friends now call him Matt) says he'll now ride rock-n-roller coaster but still a NO for the TOWER!! My Ryan however has ridden those since he was tall enough (4 or 5 and has always loved them). The only ride photo we've ever purchased is his first trip on RnR - the speed just thrilled him!!
Any hints since you just got off?? We've got 2 rooms booked cat 8's. We didn't want balconies since we weren't going to be in the room with them - DSis just found out she could actually go so we had her added.
We'll be celebrating our 15 yr anniv. and DSis b-day (I won't tell you which one she might read this).
Is this your first cruise? We were in a balcony before ds came along, then windows, now inside. We're doing just a few nights before at the parks (just a taste) because it's hot as hades and the lines tend to be a bit long.
We had a blast pirate night. I heard they don't get as dressed as on the 7, we'll be going all out. We asked for the 8:00 seating. We're late risers and hate to be off the ship at like 7.
Bring your own containers for sodas. The cups are small and the lids blow off really easily.
We just finished the 7/16 to 7/20 Wonder cruise and I rebooked for 7/15/07 while onboard. It'll be myself, my DS (who will be 5) and my Mom--a few others may join us as I can't stop raving about Disney Cruises now. Too bad they won't give me a commission.
Yes, I noticed the age similarities. That would be wonderful if they could get together--Bryan is always looking for new friends. And we've moved around sooooooooo much lately that he hasn't found any real buddies. I think having a buddy or two in the Oceaneer's Club would make the experience that much more fun for him.
Does everyone have a stateroom assigned yet? I picked mine while on board: 8550. I even went up to that deck and took a picture of the door. I wish I had had enough courage to knock on the door and see if the current occupant would let me take a look.
We're doing the nights before just because it'll be easier to have them take our luggage right to MCO for us. This last 7 day was a killer with tips for transportation. We opted for DCL buses this time, but since it's a short cruise we might rent a car and just park it there (depends on the rates of course).
I heard they don't go as "all out" on pirate night on the 4, but we'll be in full gear dancing our little hearts out.
I think I'm more excited about going than ds. Last cruise was a family reunion so this time I'm inviting all the friends.
I'm still trying to talk DH into the dressing up thing. He said it depended on what his costume would be - since I sew I told him to just pick it out. Good thing I have a year because if I have to make 5 costumes it might take that long. Wonder what kind of lightweight material I can find - I'm sure it's going to be hot!!
We're in rooms 7504 & 7506 (connecting). I'm gonna have to make some door signs.
Thanks for the welcome perpetualplanner--I appreciate that.
On our cruise earlier this month there weren't very many people dressed up for Pirate Night--in fact I can't recall any in our section of the dining room. Some of the kids were decked out in pirate gear that they found in the onboard gift shops (which were loaded with the stuff since Pirates 2 has just come out and is playing onboard).
And YES, it will be plenty hot--if it is anything like the cruise this month. So I'd definitely go with a lightweight fabric. Hot AND humid...that part was the most difficult part of the cruise.
Mattmommy--we did the rental car/park at Canaveral arrangement. We flew in two days before our cruise and stayed at the Residence Inn at Port Canaveral. My kids loved the beaches and we played a lot of miniature golf at the Jungle Time playland. It was $48 to park at Port Canaveral for four days. We got there early enough that we got to park just across the crosswalk--a super easy walk over to the terminal. I'm going to do the same thing next year--it made our trip so convenient and, best of all, completely under our control (something I really like I hate waiting on buses and someone elses schedule).
I'm starting to wonder if it'll be just the 3 of us on the cruise. I know it's a long way out but some of the other threads are too and seem to have more people. Not that I'd complain!!!
If not many people dressed up then maybe I won't worry about doing such a big job with the costumes and stick to something simpler.
We're in room 7567. Might I suggest post-it paper for your doors? Cheaper and repositionable and lighter.
We will use our costumes from this past trip (if we all still fit in them). Mine was a cheap peasant skirt from WalMart and a white gauzy top from Old Navy. The worst part was the deck party before the fireworks. There was plenty of air, but they stop the ship for the fireworks--then it got hot.
I bought ds a white pirate shirt from ebay and he had black pants from a captain hook costume a few years back. I think the kids got a big kick out of it. Of course our family of 14 hammed it up. I wish I could figure out how to attach a picture.
Wonder Woman, can you not park near the terminal anymore? Is that a 9/11 thing? We parked really close on our first 4 day cruise (1999).
We're going for a few days on 8/31 for dh's birthday. We got a great deal from our Hilton timeshare and JetBlue. I told ds we're going on the cruise next year and he things we're going next month.
Let me see if I can describe where we parked: If you come out of the terminal and head directly towards the road that runs in front of the terminal you encounter a cross walk. If you cross the street you walk directly into the parking lot where you can park---the earlier you get there the better parking spot you get. We arrived at 10:30 am and truly were right up front, perhaps 10 yards from the cross walk.
Does that help? I don't know where you parked before so I was unsure if this situation is new or not...let me know if I can muddy the waters any further.
Wow--looks like we are all pretty close to each other on the ship!!! If my Mom and my DD (who is 18) both decide to come then they will be on deck seven, too.
Ok, still working on dh for a double dip. First he said the 4 day was loads of money for just 4 days, now he's thinking of going to the Med. cruise. AGH. He's killing me.
We've been pushed to the 3rd page. Oh well. I'm very happy for and jealous of all that are going before us.
