Julie Andrews @ DL April 8th!!!

Candlelight is usually the first Saturday and Sunday of December, and there are only 2 shows each of those days. The tickets were a dinner package and you had guaranteed seating for the show, but getting the tickets for DL's Candlelight is one of the most difficult things to do. The past 2 years they have been sold online only, starting on a certain date at a certain time. They sell out VERY quickly, and both years the server crashed pretty much right after they went on sale. Last year, I kept getting to the reservation page, thinking I was guaranteed a spot, only to find out that after I had submitted my payment, those times for those restaurants were sold out. I finally managed to get tickets, but it took me about 45 minutes of constant refreshing and total frustration.

It is obviously done quite differently at Disneyland. Fewer performances (only 4), and you don't know who the narrator is until weeks before the performances. They don't even promise that there will be tickets available for the public, but usually Club 33 gets places. I've felt like my tickets were gold whenever I've managed to get them.

Can you tell me more about this Candelight show?? We will be there that weekend and I am interested to find out more. Does disney have info on their website and when do they have the ticket sales?
TIA!:)

can anybody tell me where the disney opera house on main street is?

Candlelight is a yearly Christmas program. It was originally designed to be a thank you to Disney's sponsors and was by invitation only. You don't have to have tickets to view it, you can still see it and hear it from Main Street. They have a huge choir process down Main Street while singing carols and carrying lightbulb candles. When they reach the train station, they go on stage which is already full of a complete orchestra and handbells, and the Disney employee choir makes up the Christmas tree shape down the center. They play and sing Christmas songs, and a celebrity narrator does the narration of the biblical account of Jesus' birth. I love the herald trumpeters that are on top of the train station, always make me want to cry.

There is very little info on the Disneyland website since they really don't advertise it for the public. APs get info of dinner packages being available sometimes, but there is never a guarantee that they will be. They will tell the APs that tickets go on sale at X time on X day (never really early, it's been sometimes just a few weeks in advance), and then good luck at getting some. Sometimes they have a few packages that are only for the APs. It really does sell out quickly, but the program is fantastic. I've been fortunate to have tickets 4 years in a row now, but the first year we got rained out. Our first narrator was Dick Van **** and I must admit that I compare everyone else with him, I love him.:)

The opera house is on the right side of Main Street as you enter the park, next to the bank. It used to house the Lincoln show, and now has the 50th movie.

Thanks for the info! We are AP holders and would love to see this! :thumbsup2 Are AP holders the only people who can buy these packages? What exactly is included in the dinner package and how much are the tickets? Is it dinner at a restaurant before the program or during?
This really sounds like something we would LOVE to see!!:)

No, you didn't have to be an AP holder to buy the dining packages. There was one that was only for APs last year, that was the one for Napa Rose. The prices and restaurants for last year were:

Hook's Pointe - $75 per ticket
Storyteller's Cafe - $75 per ticket

Steakhouse 55 - $100 per ticket
The Vineyard Room - $100 per ticket
Yamabuki - $100 per ticket

Napa Rose - $125 per ticket - for APs only

These prices were higher than they had been the previous year. You eat dinner before the show, and get your tickets at the end. They have a set menu that you choose from. We ended up eating dinner around 3:30 since we had the early show, I'm thinking it was around 5 or 5:30, but I'm having brain freeze tonight. You were limited to no more than 6 tickets. Last year they sold out completely in 90 minutes, and that included a bit of down time because of the server crashing.

Thank you so much for the info! One more quick question! :) :
If you buy the dinner package do you get a seat for the show? From what I am understanding people just stand along Main Street?
thanks again!

:scared1: Oh my ! Thats quite expensive. I guess its because the shows are quite limited. The most expensive dinner package at WDW is about $50, but they have many many shows available. Thanks for the info!!

Yes, if you buy a dinner package you have a seat. Last year I ended up front row, center. You never know where you'll end up sitting. The people that stand along Main Street don't have the dinner package. You can still view the program without the seating, I just like being able to relax and watch it.

Thank you so much! You have been very helpful! I am very excited about this possibility!

Yes I am going =]
Question:
Do you have to buy the book at the park? And is she only signing the book?

Cant wait to go!

i am down in Moreno Valley visiting with my aunt and uncle and I will be here next week for a few days...I really am seriously thinking about going down for this...

We are going too. (I made my husband alter his trip).
I spoke to DL about a month ago anbout the no photo rule, and was told that it was up to Miss Andrews on the day, so we might be in luck, but they did say that she would not be signing anything else.

Im scared we wont make it to the signing. I work till 7 30 and I will probably get down there at 8 15ish. after traffic 845. I am really dissapointed because I guess they are only letting a certian amount of people have ristbands and what not.

To all of you in Mo Val, I am in Rancho Belago:snooty: . We all know that it is really just the south east portion of Moreno Valley with a new name.;) DD told me today that the Julie Andrews thing is going to be crazy with a capitol C!!!
She is only there for two hours and they are only selling like 90 books. The line for wristbands will start at 4 am (it was 2 am, but they changed it). I am afraid there will be a lot of disappointed people. Good luck Mr Boogety.:)
