Julia's get back on track journal!

Dance classes this month have been FUN! granted a little confusing trying to straighten out the moves for each class. On Mondays I am taking Shag and on Thursdays I have Salsa, Merengie and Wiggle Jiggle Giggle. Going to the seconf class of Shag tonight, I had to stop and figure out what the hand hold was, what the turns were like... Once we got started I got all my moves down even to the fact that the instructor got me to help him show some of the moves for next week. I like dancing with him, because I catch on quickly and the other guys in the class not so much. It will be good when my hubby is back. He will be able to "catch" on quickly with me.

DH is home and has been for a couple of weeks now. YEAH!! We went to Chatanooga for a small vacation (3 days) and saw Rock City and Ruby Falls. It was a very nice vaca with a lot of walking which is very good.

Charles decided he didn't want to do the shag class with me since I went on to to level 2 this month. We decided to go to Country and Western 2 step class on Wed nights together. the Wiggle jiggle Giggle class has been cancelled because they didn't have enough people interested with a later time in the evenings. So no WJG this month.

I did go to the friday night dance this past week and had a blast and the owner asked me if I would like to start working on a Formation class for performance level. That's quite a compliment. Now I have a bit more of an incentive to get a bit more weight off so I feel more confident dancing in a performance. Now I just have to figure out what need to do to fix my diet and fitness regime.

Thank you for the encouragement. After reading a lot of tips on here about preparing for all the walking at disney by starting to walk now, I decided that is what I am going to do. So Along with my dance classes my hubby and I are going to start walking a couple of miles a week to start. We have 151 days os of today to break in our shoes and our legs!
This will be one way to get into shape and have the incentive to be more fit come September when we travel to Disney.

We decided that we would buy new clothes and shoes for our "get fit for disney" walks and started may 1st (today). We jumped in head first and I am very proud of myself!:woohoo:

We picked up our MP3 players and plugged in and walked around our neighbourhood. There are some gradual hills and a lot of flat areas. I also bought a pedometer today as well to keep track of what I am walking. I took 6700 steps which was almost 2 miles.:cool1: I think that is an awesome start.
Since I have a while to condition my feet and legs before september, I should be able to increase that to 5 or 6 miles and be comfortable walking around Disney without getting too pooped!

The walking 3 times a week and dancing 3 times a week, I should have very strong legs by September.:banana:

I should weigh in as well and see if this regime will make a difference. I think I will do that tomorrow and keep track of what I am walkign as well, now that I have the pedometer.

I am just so proud of me! :goodvibes It was actually fun and I wasn't lonely with my DH and my MP3 player the time flew by! I'll be able to sleep well tonight :cloud9:
 
ok, It's been awhile since I posted. My original plan to start being more active while the hubby was away was a start. When he came home we made plans to go to Disney in September for free dining, so we decided we would start walking to get ready for the miles we will walk while in the World. Then my mom came to visit for the month and we didn't get any walking in other then when we were out shopping.

Now, Disney is 90 days away. I've been talking to my dance instructor, who is a weight watchers coach, and I have decided that I am going to join weight watchers as of tomorrow morning. The Dance Studio also has a summer program that will give me unlimited dance classes and dances for July and August.

So my activity level is going to triple and with the healthy eating promoted through weight watchers and the fact that my instructor is my coach, I'll have a "friend" with me to support and be supported. This way I'll learn to eat, increase my activity level and hopefully loose a bit of weight.

Sounds like you've got your weight loss & exercise programme sorted, cant wait to hear how it goes, your gonna be a healthy eating exercise machine! :)
 
My first week on Weightwatchers was pretty good. I stayed on plan (except for one night during a huge thunderstorm that lasted 3 hours or more) , and wiggled and jiggled and giggled on thursday night to gain an additional 14 points then on Friday night, I went to the dance and danced all night to almost every song. gained another 14 points.

Weigh in on Saturday... -4.6 pounds. WOOHOO!!!

This week will pretty much be the same thing. Thursday wiggle jiggle giggle and Friday night dance. The week after though will be dancing every night for the whole summer. This is going to be the best summer ever!

Week 2 is over, and today was weigh in day again. I was a tad nervous this morning, but I had no need to worry. I lost another 2 pounds. I am down a 5 pound bag of sugar and a one pound box of corn starch! When we went to the store, I grabbed one of each and just held it for a minute. It feels and looks like a lot of weight. I can't wait til I can lift an economy size bag of cat food!
Total weight loss so far: 6.6 pounds! YEAH!!
 
Week 3 is over. I was up .8 pounds this week. Though afterwards, I realized I had my keys and my cell phone in my pockets. :headache: So next week I have to make sure I have nothing in my pockets.
So this week I'll put a little more effort into being on plan and dancing with gusto should make my weigh in on Saturday a tad more impressive. :dancer:

week 7 is upon us and weight in this morning was good compared to the last few. I am down another 2.2 pounds for a total of 9.8 YEAH! .2 to go to hit 10 pounds.

At this rate, I won't be down the 30 ponds I wanted by september, but a slow and steady pace is good!
 
Slow & steady is deffinatly the way to go!

I guess I am having trouble staying on track. Though I am dancing. Not as much as I would like since I am now working as Administrative Assistant at the Dance Studio. I just don't want to stay after working 6 hours in the office. I feel like I have been hit by a truck and am exhausted!!

The only day I do dance after work is on Thursdays. There is a Salsa class that my Dh and I take then I have Wiggle Jiggle Giggle for an hour and half. We're practicing a couple of numbers for the show in December and working on costumes this week.

Though I'm not sure if I am happy with the "mermaid" slinky costume they want to put on my 3X size body. I don't want to look like a beached whale. I hope they will be able to make it accommodate my Pooh size frame and be some what flattering.

Today we were working on the costume and they had the fabric around this super skinny no shape woman and I was feeling horrible. When I got off work, I bought a 6 pack of donuts and sweet and sour chicken at the chinese restaurant by the house. I ate all the rice and chicken and 3 donuts. Luckily, my DH called at that point and we talked and I left the other 3 donuts in the box.

I hate feeling like this. I just feel that I have been defeated and that I can't do this. I wish I could develop the self esteem and confidence to be comfortable with the way I look and the motivation and time to make a difference in my exercise program and food habits.

I just feel Defeated!:sad1:
