I've been driving myself mad trying to find a juicer that's:
(a) quiet
(b) fast
(c) reliable

I had (and returned) an Omega masticating model that was very quiet and worked fine . . . except . . . it took forEVER to make a couple of glasses of carrot juice. It was like having a part-time job.

All I want to do is make a few glasses of carrot juice every day and not have it take an hour+ of my time. But I cannot deal with a loud machine.

I've read a zillion reviews on Amazon and at least I know what I don't want to get, but I'd like to get something, not just eliminate things!

TIA for all help!

I'm interested in finding a better juicer, as well. My roommate had the Ninja, which was great, but it produced more of a smoothie texture than juice, and the pulp is what gets me. Maybe I wasn't using it right...don't know. I have a Jack Lalaine Power Juicer right now (older model) and it also takes FOREVER to make a few glasses of juice, and I feel like it's wasting a lot of the nutrients by expelling the fruit remnants out the backside. It gums up after making about a quart of juice, too, so I have to empty not only the waste container but also the inner area where the fruits and veggies are ground up (especially if I'm juicing oranges). The inside spinner that you attach the blade to just cracked and broke off last week and I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it to pay for a replacement part, or just get a new juicer altogether at this point.

I'm considering getting a Vitamix. I've heard nothing but rave reviews about it. My friend is an MMA fighter who eats 6 meals a day, 3 of which are juice from his Vitamix. They're just so darn expensive! Even the refurbished ones on Craigslist are spendy. I figure it's a worthy investment, though, especially since I'd be getting all the nutrients from the fruit/veggie rinds that would be wasted by my other juicer. The Vitamix liquefies everything, so you don't get that pulpy/smoothie texture - or so I've been told. Haven't tried it yet.

Well, first off, I ended up getting a Fusion Juicer. I'll report back on it later. I know it's quiet but I don't know if it works for my purposes. But it must be faster than the Omega masticating juicer I had, which was beyond slow.

All juicers--even the heavy-duty juicers they have in health food stores--release waste. That's just the way of a juicer. Blenders do use all the ingredients, but you have to be willing to put up with the noise--which is substantial--and the pulp, which I'm personally not a fan of.

I didn't mention in my original post that I also tried out a Blendtec, which is quite like the Vitamix. It works fine except that it's unbelievably LOUD. I mean, it was like standing on the deck of an aircraft carrier among 15 planes that were all taking off at the same time. I couldn't deal with it. And the Vitamix, btw, makes the same amount of noise, if not more.

Luv2Run, if you want a Vitamix, you might try the Blendtec instead. It's somewhat less expensive, does exactly the same job, and you can get a 20% off coupon from Bed Bath & Beyond if you sign up for their email list, so it'd be more like $300 than the nearly $400 it costs. But, as you are already aware, it doesn't really make juice per se. The texture is more like a smoothie, which was not what I wanted.

Good luck to you!

guess I'm too late to chime in :teeth: I have a Breville. It's definitely reliable and powerful, it's not exactly quiet but it's not horrificly loud either. I just wish it was smaller, it's a monster to store

Thanks for chiming in anyway! Yes, I ended up getting a Fusion Juicer. Got it off eBay so paid very little for it. So far I really like it. It's not silent but one can have a conversation while standing next to it, so it's not loud, either. I have it out on the counter since I've been using it every day.

If this doesn't stand up to the test of a ton of juicing (which is going to happen next month) then I think I am going to get a Breville, which are apparently very well made.
