Hi all! I've kinda been lurking on the boards for the past few months and am FINALLY making my PTR to share with you! pirate:

Here goes on my first PTR!

The Dates
August 17th-22nd 2009

Resort
Port Orleans French Quarter

The Cast

Josh- Disney lover (obsessed) since I was born, currently a flight attendant for "unnamed airline" :littleangel:, "The Trip Planner", loves all things cheesy, CP alumni

3818168846_621792182e.jpg

Scott- Hasn't been to WDW in 26 years :scared1:, works for a Non-Profit and finishing up Master's Degree in Literature, rents too many Disney movies for us to watch before our trip

We live in a cute, LITTLE studio in Chicago right along the Blue Line to the airport. Spend most of our days going to see movies, enjoying great restaurants, or checkin out the most recent exhibits at the city's museums.

Why this Trip?

I haven't been to WDW since I worked there in 2004 and have been dying to go back. Also, mine and Scott's birthdays are just a few days apart (May 29th and June 2nd) so I thought it would be a great gift to both of us.

It All Started With a Layover

I was bored on a layover (flight attendant remember?) back in April, and started looking up vacations on the hotel lobby computer. I just happened to see an ad for the Free Dining promotion and couldn't resist. Started looking at what I could afford and saw that every resort still had availability. Well, a few days later I booked a room in All-Star Movies which I thought would be fun since my boy has his bachelor's in Film and loves everything to do with movies. After a few more weeks of research, I thought it would be really romantic (and nice to go back to after a busy day in the parks) to stay at POFQ. Worked quite a bit the next few weeks and was able to upgrade to POFQ and was glad I did because soon after there were basically no more rooms available in Value or Moderate resorts.

Will come back later to let you know how my ADR process and the rest of the summer went :)

Hope you all enjoy!

Not so much freaking out as can't contain my excitement any longer! :scared1:

I really don't want to go to work today either, just want to sit around and watch Toy Story and Peter Pan. :happytv: Hopefully I don't get called in....

Welcome!! WE just got back. Here's my 2 cents. Epcot, AMAZING place. I wouldn't waste a lunch on Mexican. That's something you can eat everday...we did Chefs de France for lunch...OMG, to DIE for. We later did Le Cellier for dinner, again, terrific meal, and the ambiance is wonderful. I'm done. ;)

Whatever you do, it will be great. Enjoy every second, we did!

Yea, I wasn't sure about the Mexican food....

On that note, I am also thinking about changing my reservation on Wednesday. Currently have Whispering Canyon Cafe, but am thinking about Kona Cafe.... reason I had WCC was because that day were were going to take the boat over to WL and eat, then go to Contemporary, Poly, and GF for a little resort tour. However, I do love the KC's food...

Which would you do?

86 the Mexican joint! It's worse than Taco Bell, HONESTLY!

IMO go for Morocco! Easy to get into, and the food is great!

We actually ate at both WC and Kona and if your looking for ambiance as well as a good lunch, I'd say Kona. WC was fine, but nothing special. The resort is gorgeous, but then, so is Poly. Oye vey, what to do! :confused3

WCC is kinda loud right? And the point of a lunch at a resort is to get away from the chaos of MK and relax.

I think I am gonna go with Kona Cafe, I think their food is superior. And I guess we can always go to WL, Contemporary, have a late lunch at Kona, then on to the GF and back to MK. Yea.... that's what we'll do.

Well, I'm sure with being a flight attendant on call, you know how to pack, and pack quickly....so even though you leave on Monday, I can see why you wouldn't be "stressed"....lol

Then again, I'm one of those who plans everything out to the nth degree, only to procrastinate the packing. Yup, that's right, I pack the night before, and the morning of departures. :)

Can't wait to see more of your report...

Have fun!!
<as if I even have to say that>

I had a such a great time giving Scott his card for his birthday that said we were going to Disney World. He was pretty much speechless, "WHAT!?!?! No WAY!!" I showed him POFQ on the Planning DVD and he was hooked.

So the planning was done with regard to tickets and resort. Now it was time to become really obsessed :lmao:

I have spent WAAAAY too much time in Border's reading every Disney book, flipping through my Passporter 2009, watching the Disney Planning DVD, Longing to ride Soarin', subscribing to Touringplans.com, trying to get RideMax to do the rides in the order I want.....

Yea, I am that guy!

Scott and I have been trying to watch some of the old Disney Movies to get us in the Disney Mood, and watching Pinocchio just made me soooo freakin excited. "A dream is a wish your heart makes...." oh I welled up haha

A few days ago I left this on the bed before I left for a work trip:

I got the reply "you are crazy!" as a text message haha, but as soon as I got home the next day, the number had been changed to 6 by Scott... ahhh the man I love

Our trip is finally almost here! YAY!

WCC is kinda loud right?

They have a section called the library that is reserved for adults who dont want to deal with the noise.....you may want to ask for that.

Jackskellingtonsgirl just at at Kona, she didn't seem to like it too much, she should be here by the end of the day to give advice on what she experienced.

Your right, and if you ever decided to eat at WL, I HIGHLY reccomend Artist Point! Kona is great and the food is yummy, he'll love it!

Haha, yea I can pack fast... however I've been packed for 6 days already...

I guess I can say I pack efficiently too. I have like 3 pairs of shorts, 13 shirts, underwear, socks, and more in that little teeny flight attendant bag :wizard:
