Jon & Kate: Sad it's ending?

I am. :(

I think Kate's heart & intentions were in the right place with this show & I don't think the kids seem to be negatively impacted. I also think the show would have survived with just Kate.

I like Kate. I think both of them probably messed up their marriage equally, but I think she was/is the responsible and smart one of the couple.

JMHO. I think it's sad that the show is over....

I agree with almost all of your post. I'm not completely sure about what's best for the kids (to go on with the show or not,)-not that I think for a minute that the reason for the show ending really had anything to do with the kids, however for my selfish feelings;) yes I'm actually pretty sad about the show ending. I'm from that part of PA, so I think some of my saddness, is the fact that I won't get to see or hear the accents of that area:sad1: I will absolutely miss seeing the kids and Kate, and even Jon (especially if he ever decides to make being a Dad his 1st priority again.)

I'm kind of sad, mostly because I too think the kids are adorable. :goodvibes We were talking last night and thinking how maybe they could do update shows every so often (maybe once a year? :confused3) just to see how the kids are growing up.

Anybody think the show with Kate they're talking about will come off? :confused3

Jon is not as much of a pushover as he would LIKE you to believe. Didn't anyone see how nasty he was to Maddy and Cara when they were making the lemonade signs???? He was talking to them horribly and then punished them for NOTHING! Didn't anyone catch it when Maddy say that she liked it when Mommy was here???? That made him furious. I have never seen such an immature selfish excuse for a man.

Boy you said a mouthful there. He was talking about how he would be there no matter what and DH and I looked at each other and rolled our eyes.:rolleyes1 If he finds some hot young chick who is jealous of the kids or asks him not to see them, I would lay money that he would slowly fade out of their lives.

I was very sad to see the show end. I thought that Kate handled her part with grace and compassion...Jon not so much...as for the harmful effect that the show would have on the children...I feel that the divorce and Jon's foolish behavior will be much more harmful to them than the show...they will always be a "circus" of sorts due to the fact that there are six of them...maybe we will be fortunate enough to get annual updates since they have all gotten in our hearts...and for those who hate the show all you have to do is change the channel...Happy Thanksgiving....

Maddy said "I wish I was doing this with Mommy" and he flipped! Then he punished Cara for good measure (now she was being a little snipppy earlier but it looked as though she had stopped and was doing her poster....). ANd not only that he made them go to their rooms but the way he got that point across....GOODBYE! Go away! Thats not something a father says to their kids, especially a father who only gets to see them on occasion.:confused3

I'm going to miss it. DS loves watching this show - he gets so excited to see the other kids.

I'm not going to miss seeing Jon though. I can barely stomach him now. (Why has his voice changed so much? It's so nasal now) I had to fast forward through the baseball segment on the last episode.

Yes! That was it! I'm afraid we've only seen snippets of Jon's true self. This was pathetic. I feel very sad for Kate for what she has endured with this person.

:thumbsup2

Yes, I'll miss it. I won't miss what's going on in the kids lives right now and I do think they need a break right now during the divorce.

Good post.

It should have never been anything but a special in the first place. Everyone got greedy, TLC included and it imploded. I'm pretty sure if the parents get off their celebrity high horses, the kids will be fine.

Another show seems to be going the same way as J&K. Little people, big world. How long will that couple bicker and fight in front of the camera before they call it quits?

Exactly. I had to watch it twice to make sure I didn't miss something. It's about Jon, Jon and more Jon. Just look at his face and his body language. Says way more than words ever will!

Yes! I had my jaw on the floor after that one. Felt REALLY awful for the girls, and then for the little kids who were trying to smooth things over as quickly as possible after Cara left. :sad2:

I did.

I haven't watched an episode since the "Pimp our divorce" extravaganza. The show started out fine, but then started to turn into a train wreck about a year ago. Last Spring it went into full meltdown and should have ended then, if not sooner. I don't doubt for a minute that most, if not all, of the kids are going to need some serious couch time with therapists when they get older. Also, while I don't directly blame the show for the end of the marriage... it sure was a catalyst.

As for another show? Don't bet on it. The J&K brand is effectively "dead". The prospect for "K" alone isn't much better. Through the fiasco of the last 6 months both "J" and "K" have managed to make themselves pretty unlikeable people in general. Ratings have tanked, and the golden goose has probably squeezed out the last 24K egg. No channel is going to be willing to risk the kind of nut "K" has been accustomed to getting to try and resuscitate the corpse... even while it's still warm.

I haven't read all the posts here, but I overhear a show yesterday where Kate was saying something like it ended too soon...my question to her would be why? Why has it ended too soon? Because now you have to actually go out an get a real job like everyone else to support your kids? Sorry, I'm not fond of her. I did used to watch the show, but I really think they're taking advantage of the kids to make money without actually working.

I'm sad at why it ended. It's too bad that Jon and Kate couldn't hold their marriage together. I feel bad for both of them (well, more Kate than Jon) and I feel bad for the kids.

I hope everything works out for them.

I'm am sad that the marriage ended, but not the TV show.

I think Kate is delusional for thinking that this show is good for her children. Kate wants to be rich and famous. Jon ... who the heck knows what he wants. I'm betting that those kids just want Mommy and Daddy to love each other, live together and stop fighting. Sorry kids, you lose.

I will miss those kids very much, they are so precious and it has been such a joy watching them grow and change.

In all fairness, I do think J&K's intentions at the begining of this was good. They had 8 kids 6 and under and only one income, something had to give and this was a good way to earn money for current and future expenses without really having to do anything. All they had to do was live their lives and do some voice over work for the episodes. Seems like a perfect solution.

There is NO way either of them could anticipate the show would be a smash hit or the tabloid attention they would get. The bigger they became the more money they got from TLC. And between the money and the fame, and the flaws that existed already in their relationship, the wheels just came off the wagon (I made comments on the dis about how kate spoke to jon back in S1 and I darn near got my head ripped off. Go figure!).

I think the biggest vilan in this story is TLC. The film crew, editors, and producers of the show must have seen a lot more than the final cut showed us, the viewer, and they should have seen that this show was making an already shaky marriage even worse. One their last contract was up, TLC should have stepped up and ended the show, rather than re-sign them. The mariage may still have ended but it would have been the responsible thing to do.
