Jon and Kate Plus Eight Go To Disneyworld

Anyone know how many days they spent at WDW? They couldn't have just done MK right?

they were there for 5 days. On the way home they stopped at the beach (I dont know which one) to visit family, I saw that on a out take episode last week at 3am :confused3 they also showed them at Cirque Du Soleil at disney that looks like so much fun, I'd love to go but I priced tix :scared1:

When I watched the WDW episode, it was the first time I heard of, and saw, the show. Since then, both my DH and I have been watching the show (today's marathon). No one is the perfect parent or perfect spouse. We look at the positive aspects of the show. One of the things I have noticed is that Kate never calls any of her children "bad". She tells them not to be "unkind". In order to take care of that many children that are so young, one would have to be "extremely" organized, and they do a wonderful job of raising those children. They also obviously really love their children. :thumbsup2

It was just on TLC...the melt-down with the princesses was really funny...although it wasn't too funny for Jon and Kate! :)

I highly doubt they are suing hershey medial center (my dd#1 was born there and had open heart surgery there! She's our chocolate baby). I googled it and found nothing. There really isn't much about disney on the actual episode.. she just freaks out about them getting sticky with ice cream, but with 8 sticky kids I might freak out as well.

Wasn't one of the recent episodes of them going back to Hershey Medical for a reunion of sorts? That would be an odd place to go if they were suing!

Just chiming in to say how much I love this show and personally I think Kate is great - I'm like her and I only have two - I think I would have to be medicated to have that many kids!!!

I loved the WDW episode - just wish they would have shown more. The only thing I could think of with the ice cream incident was you're staying at WL - go back to the hotel, change, swim, nap and come back.....but probably the camera crews hindered that...

Jenny:)

When I was watching the show, I kept thinking 'Thank God I am not in their shoes'!! It would take a special person to be able to manage all those kids.

I saw the Disney episode last night. I will say that I will never watch that show again. First and only time I'll ever watch; and I only watched b/c I heard so much about them here on the DIS.

I didn't see anything great about that show, all I saw was a cranky woman who has more temper tantrums than her kids! I mean who (with kids) goes anywhere without a change of clothes and/or handywipes? (and I'm not talking going to a store - I'm talking going some place that you know you won't be going home (or to your hotel) in an hour or so).

I feel sorry for the kids and for her husband!

I !

I have NEVER carried around a change of clothing for my children when I was out for more than an hour - let alone out for the entire day. Quite frankly - mothers have enough crap to haul around - unless you have an infant that spits up alot - why would somebody haul around a change of clothes for 2 6 years olds and 6 3 year olds?

Because kids have accidents:confused3 . I still carry a change of clothes for DD8 when we're out for the day along with wet ones. Kids can be slobs and I hate having my child out in dirty clothes. I don't freak out like Kate does but just quietly have DD change.

I agree carrying a change for each child would be crazy but having 1 or 2 unisex outfits doesn't take up that much space in a backpack. Also, they had so many adults it wouldn't have been a big deal to split things up among them.

For someone who claims to be so organized she really drops the ball sometimes.

Also, did anyone find it funny that with her being such a germaphobe she didn't have any problem with the kids kissing the characters?

You know who I feel sorry for? Cara and Madi. It seems like Madi's tantrums and dramatics are just to get some attention from her parents. Cara seems good about it.

Quite frankly, I don't understand how they can stand all the crying!!!! It would drive me crazy!!!! When one stops crying, another one starts up! And, the meltdowns. Yikes!!!!

Anyway, I was watching the marathon y'day and on the sextuplets 3rd Bday show, Kate mentioned something like their families not being around or not being part of things. It sounded like their families have basically "dumped" them. Can anyone fill me in on that? Do they have issues w/the parents or vice versa? The only relative you saw was Jon's "Gammy". What's w/their parents?

That's what I was thinking!

I noticed that too about Cara & Madi. And the crying...I couldn't believe Kate actually said they were going to use ear plugs. And Jon was actually wearing them while driving. :sad2: I would think that would be unsafe. But that would be my opinion.

Jon's father is deceased but I don't know what the situation is with his mom. I believe Kate's parents live pretty far away in another state. Her siblings have made appearances on the show and 1 brother/sil lives down the street.

I was confused about that too. I'm not sure if their parents are alive. Jon's father passed away two years ago and they showed a picture of him holding all the babies so I doubt he wasn't a part of their lives. It was also stated that there are around 17 grandkids between Kate and her brothers and sisters, and the grandparents aren't involved in ANY of their lives, so I don't think they had a falling out. I know it would kill me if my parents weren't involved in my (eventual) kid's lives! Jon's grandma was cute, though, and it was nice to see her at the sextuplets party! Kate definitely looked like she was masking some annoyance or hurt when she said that none of the grandparents were at the party.

I love this show! I Tivo every new episode and just think the kids are the cutest! I love how they all have their own personalities and quirks. I've always watched the "big family" shows, and I hated how some of them treated their kids like little soldiers. You never heard a peep out of them, they never cried, they never had their own personalities and they were all expected to raise each other while mom and dad went off on their own to make more babies (the Duggars  They freak me out). The kids here have their own personalities, they cry and whine and are bratty, they care about one another and take care of each other without being expected to raise each other, they all get their own individual attention (I loved how everyone sang Happy Birthday to each of the sextuplets separately!), they do fun things around the house and around their area, and they're allowed to just be kids. In other words, they're a normal family. Yes, Kate may be uptight but you can tell she's doing her best to not just be another "big family", but to be a regular family. I can't even imagine what it must be like to have 8 kids running around all the time, and she does a good job of keeping things organized and generally under control. I think they're a really cool family :thumbsup2

I wonder if any of us can really imagine what it must be like to live with all those kids day in, day out. I think they do a remarkable job with them, and yes, Kate does get edgy but what mom among us wouldn't be edgy or downright witchy dealing with all that she has to deal with. Easy to turn the show on once a week and tell everyone how a certain situation should have been dealt with. I make mistakes on a daily basis with my 4 kids, can't imagine if there were 8 of them.

My hat goes off to Jon and Kate. On a side note, I am getting sick of the whole organic thing.

Here is why I REALLY dont think she is sueing.. first of all they live pretty far away from Hershey. For those in PA she lives down by Reading (wyomissing). That's an hour drive. I would think they would have found a fertility Dr down in Reading! Hershey has one of the only higher level NICU's in PA. The other option for her would have been Philly, or Pitt both of those are MUCH further than Hershey. I know this because my daughter was in that same NICU (I was also given the choice of hospitals) but 4 years before the 6 were born. I've also gone to one of the NICU reunion's, knew most of those same nurses that were on the show, the one who names them while they are sitting in the stroller was one of Abby's daily nurses as well! She helped discharge us. These are things a mother never forgets ;) Last night me and DH sat here and watched the show .. we see ourselfs in them.. and our middle daughter is EXACTLY like one of the twins. I love the show, I think they are doing a WONDERFUL job.

Can someone tell me what "season" the Disneyworld episode is on? My library has Seasons 1, 2 & 3 (4 is on order) and I don't want to watch all the episodes, I'm just curious to see the Disneyworld one.

Thanks.
