I do agree about the dirty nails, they can wash their hands jsut liek the girls did. However I don't equate that with not showing them affection/attention.

As for the days out....It was suppose to be Jon out with the boys and Kate out with the girls. Kate doesn't like to drive to unfamiliar places, so on the girls days, Jon drove them. It wasn't Kate going along with Jon and the girls, it was Jon driving Kate and the girls.

agreed and agreed.

well, not about the cats part ... I don't have a cat. LOL

why on earth does Cara (I think?) have such long fingernails? :confused3

I did notice they were long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cara's nails....
I know something was said in an episode. Cara wanted to grow them out and they let her on a certain condition. I can't of course remember what that condition was LOL

I LOVE this show, I find find it highly entertaining and have watched from the very beginning.:goodvibes I don't/won't pass judgement because I don't live their life. I have noticed one thing that sort of bothers me though. I feel like Kate doesn't show the boys as much affection/attention as the girls. I realize the show is heavily edited but it was just something that I noticed. For example, when the girls were making the cake, the boys weren't allowed to help because of dirty hands and nails?:confused3 They could have washed their hands and helped. Also, when they did the individual days out, did you notice that Kate went with Jon on every single girls day out but not 1 of the boys days out? I am in know way saying that she ignores them our doesn't love them, it was just simply an observation. Am I nuts or does anyone else agree?

there is something about the boys and the girls ... Jon & Kate do have some rules (not sure if that's the word I want to use?) about what girls can do and what boys can do. Like the boys aren't allowed in the girls' rooms, the girls always go first (Jon said that today in one of the reruns) and as you mention, the stuff with the cake. I don't know if it's intentional or edited, but there's something there.

I certaintly wouldn't equate just 1 example as a lack of affection/attention either, it just was 1 part of a pattern I noticed.:goodvibes

Man, they were long.... icky long for a little girl, IMO. My DD is 6, and there's no way I'd allow her to have nails like that.

Cara's nails are their business, though .. not mine. LOL

Just checking in post episode, but I haven't seen the Memorial Day one, so I'm watching.

We do JBF (yep, Madge, Just Between Friends). JBFSale.com! You make 65% or 70% if you volunteer. If you've got kids, it's a great deal!!! Find great prices (this weekend I bought a LT climbing cube for $45, Step 2 sand & water table + umbrella for $30, bag of 31 Disney movies for $25, several pairs of $2 Gap jeans among other great items!) and make some money, too.

But Jon was equally involved in each girls' activity. He didn't just drive them, he was actively participating. The girls got both parents, the boys only got Daddy.

I thought tonight's episode was fun. I can't believe she made them get so much hair braided..especially the girls who were not interested! Now the episode where they go to church is on...cute!

I did notice lots of people in the background at Cocoa Castle that a PP mentioned. It didn't look like they had the whole playground to themselves. Or were all those people hired, Kate-approved extras?

Don't be offended, PP (I don't remember who you are and don't really want to backtrack), I'm just saying what I see and poking a little fun.

The boys were probably thinking "yeah us, we got the laid back parent" ;)

I missed the episode tonight,I'll have to catch a rerun.

Why were they doing a Mother's Day craft? (I'm about 20 minutes behind)

Because the episode was filmed before Mother's day, but they tried to make it seem like it was Memorial Day because that was when it originally aired.

Maybe they got their ms mixed up. I don't know off hand when each of those holidays fell this May, so maybe it was close?

Mother's Day is the second Sunday in May and Memorial Day is the 4th Monday in May. And the way they were giggling about the craft being a secret, I'm guessing this was filmed on the first Sunday in May. It doesn't really matter, I just think it's silly to call this a Memorial Day episode when it clearly isn't Memorial Day.

I never noticed how much Kate tells Jon what to do until tonight's episodes. The two they showed back to back tonight certainly showed Jon doing most of the work, and if he wasn't doing the work he was talking about the work yet to do. And Kate really wasn't doing all that much ... other than the telling people what to do.

I wondered if anyone else noticed in one of the latest episodes, one of the girls was in a mad/bad mood getting in the van (might have been Hannah? sorry I'm not too good at telling them apart by name, but the one in the carseat beside the window and Aaden on the other side), and she reached up with a mad face and smacked the new helper while the helper was buckling her in her carseat - then she looked up at the helper like "Uh Oh, I did it - Now what" :rotfl:

Actually I was glad to see that little burst of independence and fire - to me it just shows that they are really starting to grow up now and make their opinions known. :)

:happytv:

And just when I thought you were softening up. :lovestruc:lmao: ;) .

I tried, I really tried. But tonight was a challenge for me. The beach show was mostly cute - it really was. I do think Kate is in for some big-time struggles with the older girls, bigger than we're seeing. I don't know how much, if any, being on the show plays a part in their behavior - I have a 6 year old and am starting to see the beginnings of the same type thing here.

The Memorial Day show is going to need a second watch from me on Wednesday - it bugged me tonight, for several reasons. I want to give it another chance to see if I still feel the same way. Kate just came across as soo bossy. And she must have pointed out 2 or 3 times that they were having an organic picnic. And it wasn't even that they were having the organic picnic, it was just the way she said it. I don't know. Just lots of little things. I'll watch it again.

But I liked the first episode much more before I saw the second one.
