They are going on a trip...!!!!!!!!
From Yahoo:
Jon and Kate want to combine a speaking engagement in the South with a family trip to the beach, so they pack up for the drive

I feel bad for Jon and Kate because people complain about leaving the kids at home when they leave for a speaking engagement, now I'm sure they will complain that they are taking the kids.

And about the "complaing" in tonights episode I interrupted that Kate thought that what he was saying was going above the kid's heads.

I thought tonight's episode had some cute moments. Loved Collin building the "home" for his dino on the couch.

Oh she was clearly complaining..
I've seen things before on the show, and people on this thread have suggested that I maybe didn't see what I saw, though. LOL.
Hello,, it was FREE!!!!!!!!! She just seems so ungreatful for the freebies, like they owe her.

not only was it free, it was either offered or arranged specifically for them to do for the show. Even if it wasn't her thing, she should have kept her mouth shut in front of the camera.

That's the attitude that makes it so hard for me to believe that Jon & Kate have changed in the years since the show started.

And speaking of attitude? whichever one of the older girls were talking about their trip to NYC was full of it (attitude). I know that is part of that age,so I'm willing to cut a little slack there.

Anyone,, watching it tonight???!

Yep, and apparently we were watching different shows because I loved it and didn't see anything wrong with Kate. Big deal that the kids didn't want to sit with her, Kids go through phases that they want to sit with different people. :confused3

Free or not, to tell 4 year olds about movies that were filmed on the train was a bit much, they didn't care, and I agree with BOTH Jon and Kate on that one.

I have no idea what was going on with the pants episode, but I had a child that would flip out over socks and have a total meltdown and there was nothing wrong with the socks....I'm quite sure Kate wouldn't make the child keep walking if her pants were around her ankles.

I was watching and laughing and thought, "what will people complain about this week" and I couldn't find anything, but I guess if you want to complain about Kate, you'll find something.

I loved tonight's episode! Reminded me of the feeling the older shows had. Both Jon and Kate seemed happier and more relaxed, and all the kids were adorable!! I think my favorite to watch now is Collin - he is so much more talkative and expressive now that he is getting older. I loved him taking care of his "Diney"!

I guess you and I were watching the same thing and everyone else was watching something else. I agree about the guy talking about the movies. I'm sure those kids probably didn't even know what or who he was talking about. I thought it was a good episode and there weren't all that many problems.

Yes - they go on another outing - to the Strasburg RailRoad and a visit with Thomas The TankEngine. Guess we should be prepared for more criticism about the "special" treatment they'll get there.;)

Well, it was a little funny that they were saying how crowded it was then they had the whole car to themselves! BUT I know it is more for TV because for them to have others in the car and have their faces shown on TV they would probably have to get waivers signed by everyone and that would ahve taken forever.

You won't get flamed for that! Welcome to the minority!

yeah, really that aren't too many of us that think Kate is ok most of the time. And we also totally get where she is coming from.

Tonights episode was cute. I've been to Strasburg too and I liked seeing them at someplace I've been 2 weeks in a row. I did chuckle when they were going on the big train (the 3rd ride) and Kate was saying "how come no one wants to sit with me?" and John replies with a muttered "cause you're a grouch". That is so what my husband would have done to me. :)

And John was actually being the kinda crabby one towards the end there when they were getting in the car to go home.

Also, when Kate was doing her "complaining" about the conductors little speech, I do agree that it was over the kids heads..do they really know or care that Barbra Streisand was on there? Should she have said it on TV? Probably not but she does tend to say what she thinks.

I want to make sure I understand what I'm reading ... because the man was doing his JOB (even though he was telling JK8 something they thought was boring), it is perfectly acceptable for Kate to be rude/complain about it on national TV? :confused3

I don't get that at all.

They should be mature enough to hold off on those comments until they camera is off. That doesn't set a very good example for their kids either. Be gracious, sit through it, say thank you and move on.

I thought that was a good episode. Thought the boys were funny playing in the water when they were getting ready to leave. Jon was even more funny telling about it and making his goober facial expressions. :lmao:

I tivo'd tonights epi and am 16 minutes into it. I'm wondering if they are getting the special treatment (the empty train, the special time with Elmo, etc) because it is becoming a safety risk for the children? Not to mention onlookers constantly coming up to talk with the kids/autographs/pictures/whatever.. Just another spin on the special treatment.

that's a good point.

That's how I took it. 4 years olds and even the twins have probably not even heard of the movies or actors he was talking about. It's probably part of his spiel (parents may get a kick out of it) and he just sticks with it - no matter who is on the train.

I think it should also be noted that BOTH Jon and Kate were "complaining" (which did not sound like complaining at all IMHO) about the train spiel.

I really had no problems with this episode. Like another poster said she was looking for things that others might complain about on the boards but found nothing. I have to agree. I saw nothing major that it is worthy of pages and pages of discussion. However, I think it is even more sad that there are probably people out there who watch the show with the intent of finding things they don't agree with and then going on and on about it in various places online.

Maybe he should tailor his JOB to be more age appropriate.

That was cracking me up too!!

I didn't say it was OK, I said she probably should not have said it on TV, but she does say what she thinks all the time (whether she should or not). I only agreed that it was over the kids heads because it was. They all looked like that sat there quietly, hopefully the kids didn't hear her comments. Of course if they watch the show they'll see her saying them.

Agreed...when they first arrived at the train museum and were walking in, I clearly heard a woman say (to the effect of) "oh look, jon and kate plus 8".

They don't do that one on one chatting with the passengers on the train. I've been on more than once and never heard that. I'm trying to remember if something is said over speakers during the trip but can't remember. I know the ride we did on a steam engine in Connecticut had a running commentary the whole trip but can't remember if Strasburg did. I would have remembered someone talking to me about Streisand though..she is one of my favorites.

That was funny and Kate didn't seem all that stressed talking about it either, she seemed to be taking it all in stride that the boys are going to get into that stuff.

maybe more adults take that part of the tour? I've never been there, so I don't know about what is offered there.

and someone (TLC, Figure8, Jon & Kate) thought it would make for good TV footage OR the train museum offered the ride to them, either way ... this guy is doing his job, and because JK8 are coming aboard he should have to learn a new monologue?

I enjoyed the Sesame Place episode and looked forward to this one. And it was very cute in parts. It brought back fond memories for me when I took my younger two kids to see Thomas the Tank Engine.

I was bitterly disppointed in how the adults behaved, though. I thought it was very disrespectful.

I stand corrected :thumbsup2

Either way, we can't fault J&K for what their train conductor said to them on the train. Do I still think they were complaining about it? No. Do I think that they should have kept mum on the subject until the cameras were off? Maybe. But I think many people watching the show were thinking the same thing - that what he was talking about was way over the kids' head. Maybe since the 10 had a private train car, they also had a vip tour guide so to speak that includes these extra bits of info not typically given on the "regular" tour. I don't know. I'll have to watch it again, but I don't think EITHER of them said anything horrible about it other than the fact that the kids had no idea what he was talking about. Like a PP said, they all appeared quiet and well behaved while he was saying it though.

Part of a docents, tour guides etc job is to tailor their talk to their audience.

I was really impressed at the kids' behavior on the tour :)

I know I used the word complain upthread - but in hindsight, it was really more (to me) of Kate & John sharing a snarky moment after a family outing. My DH have done that many times over the years. It's fun to do - but, I thought that it was really rude of them to do it on camera. That guy might be watching tonight for his time on TV and sees them laughing about how it's over all of their heads. Rude.
