I don't care what the law is. It's still dangerous and dumb, not to mention irresponsible. Especially when those children have been photographed many times with the bike helmet hanging from the handlebars.

i so agree.

5 years ago dd was almost completly stopped on her bike entering a driveway. she lost her balance and fell. thankfully she was wearing her helmet. she's had to have 2 separate surgeries on the arm she broke, and her two front teeth have compound on them to repair where she sheared off two large chunks.

to look at her helmet there was only a small scuff on the exterior-but if you turned it upside down, looked inside and pulled the first layer of foam away you could see where the interior materials had cracked and broken away from the impact.

concrete is no less forgiving in a fall than asphalt, and the speed a bicycle rider is going does'nt determine the force with which they hit they ground.

Scarry. Those heads are easily breakable so good for you that she had a helmet on. We wear hemets and we usually ride on dirt roads in campgrounds. It would just take one misplaced rock and one hear to do some real damage. They have to know there are comments about the kids not wearing helmets, and must realize the safety issue.

I really don't think any of it matters. They are apart now, it's over, move on. Takes two to break up, and that's what (IMO) happened here. Neither were stellar partners in this marriage.

But looking back at old footage, Kate said she isn't the one who changed during their 10-year marriage.

"I was me all along," she said. "Jon discovered he was somebody different than we had known him to be."

TLC just advertised again, that it's been five years, and now there are only 2 weeks left (I thought there was only one week left). So, was TLC involved shortly after the tups were born, for specials?

Ah..the lead law, that's what you are talking about.

I hate the CPSIA (or whatever it's called) law. It really hurt my consignment sale totals because I couldn't sell any of DD's old Gymboree with sequins. Bah.

It's been a nightmare, and we are going to cease selling some of our items because we have to have each batch tested. If I get 500 of one items tested, the next time I order, I have to test again. And each color (it comes in 6 colors) has to be tested. Another item we have uses all parts that has been tested, but they are saying that maybe, when we put it together, it will suddenly have lead, and have to be tested once it's put together. Even the computer ink has to be tested, which means the prices will go up. After February, as it stands now, unless it has changed again, you won't be able to sell used clothing at all that is more than a year old..unless you pay to get it tested (Let's see, pay $50 to test something I can sell for $1? Yeah, that makes sense). Our local missions have already cleared out all of the toys, and say unless they amend it, they will not be reselling kids clothing. This really has been overly 'big brother' IMO.

keeping it on topic :upsidedow ... that will really hurt Kate in her consigning, as well. She has a lot of old Gymboree.

but I agree, it's a ridiculous waste of time. I have to think there's a better use for my tax dollars.

We should make that our mission--related OT posts in some way to Jon and KAte...

that way we will always be relevant...unlike Jon and Kate.:lmao:

(See how easy that was?:rotfl:)

Does she really do that? I can't believe there's something I "haven't" heard of that she does.. LOL..

You are too funny! In some way, somehow, it can always be tied to them, can't it :rotfl::rotfl2:

She has mentioned the consignment selling in the past, nice connection Madge (or have you finally changed it to Marge..you were thinking of it) :lmao:

2 associations on 1 off-topic post.:dance3:

I actually watched Monday's show, and usmagazine quoted Kate saying this:
Looking back, Kate said it was wrong of him to use that crass phrase with her. She then sighed, "Perhaps [that] was a sign of things to come."

Kate also said, "Jon wanted to say that on tv, he had made up his mind to say that, and it was wrong for him to say it. (It was wen Jon told Kate to get the stick out of her butt.) So apparently things weren't as "real" in which we all knew but more scripted. TLC probably gave Jon the OK and encouraged him to say it.

Kate also admitted that TLC begged her to show her "jowls" stomache and it eventually led to her getting a tummy tuck. And Kate said Dr. Gosselman's name last nite. Then Kate mentioned how she is working on her six pack stomache and they showed her jogging on her treadmill, with the kids running around her.

My take on the show-Kate apologized for her behavior, but threw Jon under the bus. Though she did say, it was a happy moment when she saw Jon jogging along side Joel when he rode his bike without training wheels.
