I don't care what the law is. It's still dangerous and dumb, not to mention irresponsible. Especially when those children have been photographed many times with the bike helmet hanging from the handlebars.
i so agree.
5 years ago dd was almost completly stopped on her bike entering a driveway. she lost her balance and fell. thankfully she was wearing her helmet. she's had to have 2 separate surgeries on the arm she broke, and her two front teeth have compound on them to repair where she sheared off two large chunks.
to look at her helmet there was only a small scuff on the exterior-but if you turned it upside down, looked inside and pulled the first layer of foam away you could see where the interior materials had cracked and broken away from the impact.
concrete is no less forgiving in a fall than asphalt, and the speed a bicycle rider is going does'nt determine the force with which they hit they ground.
