The Asian one was the one that it was mentioned she asked to not be photograhed.

Jon and/or Kate mentioned she preferred not to appear on the show; but to not be photographed when you're around this crew, nearly impossible these days.

I'm surprised there's not much talk about tonights episode - LOl y'all must be all talked out! HA HA!

To me it was clear the show was taped before the mess - they got along WAAAY too well - even sitting across the table from one another for supper - they wouldnt' look @ each other @ the b'day party & certiainly not sit & look @ each other. BTW did you think Emeril was just thrown in there - he looked like there was barely any room for hiim to sit @ the table - an afterthought - I would have given him the head of the table. And what was with the kids calling him Emeril? Shouldn't it have at least been Mr. Emeril!?

Y'all that have it tivod (if anyone did) go back & look Kate's hair is very different during the show & during the interview session. Her hair is skunk striped during the cooking with Emeril & just highlighted during the interviews - so clearly those weren't taped on the same day.

I had the exact same thought about the kids calling him Emeril! I've always had my kids call adults Mr. or Miss (First Name) when trying to be informal with adults. I recall them saying "Beth" back when she was around, and Carla, but other people were called Nanny Joan.

I agree about the timeline. This was clearly taped a while before the kids' birthday.

When I was growing up in Ohio we called all the adults in the neighborhood by their first name.

I really hate the "Miss Debbie, Mr. Tom" stuff. I know alot of people do it, but it wasn't common where I grew up and I think it sounds weird.

I was thinking of something last night. I don't understand why they need a helper so often. If the helper can take care of all 8 kids on her own then why can't Jon and Kate take care of the kids on their own. :confused3

I thought the Emiril episode was boring. I freely admit I am tuning in for the drama but compared to just the regular shows from past season it was on the boring side.

wow, I grew up in the south and we would NEVER dream of calling on adult by their first name, OUr parents would have killed us. Anyway, when my kids were little they said Miss so and so or Mr so and so, and as they got older they call them Mr and Mrs. Last name. To me a child calling an adult by their first name is disrespectful, IMHO

I did it! I did not watch last night. I have been a big fan of this show but the train wreck disgusts me. I hate/disagree with the decisions they are making for their family. I will not watch anymore. If and when they do divorce it will digust me beyond belief because I feel that they sold their soles for fame and money. They have eight beautiful, healthy reasons to stay and work on their marriage. IF J&K want to "be there for the kids" then they need to start my loving each other and creating a SECURE loving family for them - turn the cameras off!

A lot of adults tell children what they want them to call them. Emeril might just want to be called Emeril instead of Mr. Emeril. He works often with young people and he probably took care of that during introductions. I gre up in NJ and adults were always Mr. and Mrs. last name. Period. Moved south and a lot of Mr. and Miss (even though she was married--what the heck??!! Pet peeve, drives me crazy!) or first names. Most every adult I met here said they wanted to be called by their first name.

I have my dd answer adults with a yes, sir or no, sir/yes ma'am and no, ma'am type answer. She's 15 and still does it. Different strokes for different folks.

Kate definitely looks better to me all blonde than striped. I hate that look. See it all too often and wonder, "Who said that looks good?" LOL

What was up with Jon and the garlic? Who ever has seen that much garlic? I felt like he thought he was on candid camera or something. LOL

The interviews had to be done later. In the episode Kate has the chunky striped hair and in the interview, the chunks are gone and she is all blonde. I don't think I ever noticed how pronounced her color chunks were before, Thick blonde stripe, thick reddish brown stripe, thick blonde stripe, thick reddish brown stripe. Kinda weird really. Probably discussed 500 pages ago. :rotfl:

that's how her hair was when she was here in early March. The Emeril episode was shot the week after that, I think.

I think that totally a regional thing. My children know better than to call any adult by their first name. I still call my parent's friends Mr. and Mrs. ____ and feel very uncomfortable calling adults the same age as my parents by their first name, and I'm 41. When my dad had his business, he called all the adults that were friends of his parents Mr. or Mrs.

Definitley a southern thing.

that's why the ratings were dropping last season, IMO. There were a lot of complaints that the show had gotten boring, for whatever reason.

I really think it's a regional thing! In MI, we just called everyone by their first name. We moved to SC about a year and a half ago and it's Mr/Miss everyone. Thankfully my kids are young enough that it's been an easier transition.

I LOVED Emeril's quote from last night (and I'm kicking myself for not remembering it - I watched in bed last night so I couldn't write it down) but it was about doing things together can get more done or something like that. I dvr'd the episode so when I go back and watch it I'll write it down. It was just perfectly fitting for the family and can't believe TLC didn't use that for a commercial.

Also, in the episdoe following (the Korean dinner one - I only watched a few minutes before I fell asleep), Jon said his grandma cooked for the kids all the time. I thought the reason they were going to Hawaii was to see his grandma and her family??? Can someone please help me remember the details a bit better about who's where?? I'm thinking he meant the kids grandma (meaning Jon's mom) but I'm almost positive he said "my grandma".

Kate's blog - it seems to be it's only updated when lots of new pictures turn up in public. I can't see that it's tied to any of the episodes with this second one. I thought it might be with the first one being about the kid's party but now it seems like it's a way to take shots at the p-people when new pictures come out....JMO :confused3

I forgot something....Emeril said a couple of different times he didn't know it was the 100th episode. They didn't tell Emeril that??? And I loved the little "favorite moments" things

did anyone see Larry King Live last night? They talked about reality shows .. Joan Rivers had plenty to say about Kate Gosselin, including mentioning the tummy tuck and a **** job. Kinda like the pot calling the kettle there .... :lmao:

but she did say Kate needed to get off the TV and get home to her children. And that reality TV isn't really reality, because none of these people (generally speaking, not just the Gosselins) are good enough actors to pull off what we're seeing on TV. I thought that was interesting. Especially since she was on a reality show.

I totally agree!!! I think the ratings will start dropping soon. Maybe with all these vacations they can rename the show something along those lines.

The part I saw was Joan calling Kate a, curse word, and that Kate needs to get out of the bikini and get home and take care of her 8 kids. Wish I had seen the whole thing but I was busy flipping between J&K and the Bachelorette!

Totally regional because it was common in our neighborhood to use first names.

My girls were used to the Miss/Mr. first name thing because we were military and it was common around military bases. But when we moved from Alaska to North Carolina they were expected to say, sir or ma'am to their teachers and it freaked them out because they didn't do that in Alaska. My youngest never really caught on to the sir/ma'am thing, but my oldest does it all the time. When we moved to North Dakota she had adults tell her NOT to call her sir or ma'am because they were from the north and it didn't seem right to them. She told them "sorry, it's a habit I can't stop".

In Ohio we never called anyone Sir or Ma'am and my DH is from Texas and said he would get thumped on the head if he didn't say it.

Nope...I tried to use them and was told that they couldn't accept them. I was not happy....

Popping in to say that I visited my local Wal-Mart last night and they accepted mine. I was concerned before I used them so I went to the CS desk and they told me that they were being very careful due to fraudulent coupon use, but they said mine were good to go! Saved ten dollars! :thumbsup2

My Walmart is just dumb!!

I guess I was expecting they would cook something more interesting than green bean casserole and chili mac and brownies. I was looking for something new I could cook at home, ugh! Even the granola did not look appealing.

BTW what did they do with all of the garlic Jon peeled?
