What do you mean? He is the one at home with the kids while she travels right? If he is "not there to help" she certainly has other people to. You see she took at least one nanny to the beach, and she isn't the Vietnamese woman who works full time, it's Karla's daughter. During one of the first specials, she left the babies in their beds until she got up at 8 or 9. The twins were going to afternoon preschool or kindergarten. Mady was up alone when Jon left for work, Cara slept in like Kate. Sometimes if the babies were crying Mady would be sent into their room to entertain them without taking them out of bed. I don't think it's horrible, or abusive, just a bit self absorbed. They were out of their cribs at 9ish, back in at 12 until 4 ish, and then Jon was home soon afterwards, and back to bed before 8. That's year old babies in their beds 17 or so hours a day. Many people would find that a bit odd. Who can't be a morning person once you have kids? Is school going to wait? Our middle school bus comes by at 6:25 am! That's the thing with Hannah and her migraines if she gets up too early...what's she going to do about school? Kate has also said her hair is short because it gives her headaches when it is long!? Hannah's is down to her hiney! Hello. I'm done for now.

I'm leaving this thread. I'm sick of people trashing for Kate for everything she does. She can do no right. I think you all need to have 8 kid then you all can judge.

Take care all:goodvibes:goodvibes

Sorry to see you go. I guess I just don't see anyone here trashing Kate. I see a healthy debate where everyone is welcome to their opinions.

Unfortunately, the majority of us here seem to not agree so much with either Jon or Kate at the moment. :goodvibes

LOL would you take 8 kids by yourself anywhere

I'm not talking about take the kids anywhere I'm talking about getting them out of their cribs before 9:00. And by the way I would take 8 kids somewhere staying around the house makes me depresed

It is funny how people see things differently. Not that there is anything wrong with how you see it. I see her look before the kids as low maintenance.
I have had long, medium and short hair. Long for me is the easiest, medium second. I have not had short hair for years it is too much work to style each day. Long hair for me, is much mor forgiving than short hair. And I am like Kate said about herself, I have very thick hair and the more length I have the more tame it is. So, I just think the long hair on her looks more natural and less work and less done than her multi layered hairdo she has now.
And I can go much longer without a cut than when it is short, short hair needs to be trimmed much more frequently.

As someone who has hair that is as thick as horse hair, no joke, I have had my hair long all the way down my back and as short has Kate's I will say that long hair is harder to dry and really style, like go out style, but everyday style it is easier. With short hair you have to fix it everyday whether you are sitting in carpool line or not because it will look horrible if you don't. Long har I can pull back in a ponytail but short hair is not forgiving.

My hair is very fine. Can I have some of yours???

LOL!

I'd probably wear my hair short, but I'd have to have three arms to fix it. :headache: I just can't seem to manage with my hairdryer in one hand and a brush in the other. One extra arm and I'd be good to go! ;)

I agree with you here too! Super thick hair that I've had in every length you could imagine (super long to super short) and I'm just not good at "fixing" it. It's much easier (and quicker) for me to blow dry it and throw it in a pony tail before work!

In just thinking about the eight children becomming tweens. My DD turned 13 on May 29th, and I had nine girls between the ages of 11 and 13 over night, and I know a party is different than just having siblings those ages, but if they are anthing like I had, Kate won't have any hair to discuss, she will pull it all out!:rotfl:

Kate is that you??? No seriously, I don't think anyone is proKate or proJon at this moment. We have said things about both of them, but I do remember her letting the kids stay in bed until she was ready to get out of bed and the older girls did go in there and entertain until she got up. I am sorry, I am a mom of 3 and I could not imagine doing that. My oldest one is 9 and yes I have asked him to watch the youngest one while I go to the bathroom or somthing but the minute my baby wakes up I am up. Now before he was born, which was 9 months ago, if my two older ones got up, I did not have to get up with them because they were older and could take care of themselves. A baby is different

I would also have someone with me if I had 8 kids and going on vacation. I wish I had someone with 3 lol, I don't think that is the problem. I don't think there is a problem with her making herself look better,I think all women should do their best to make themselves look their best. I don't think a man wants to be married to an ugly women. I do think it can make their eye wonder if their wife looks bad. Not that I am saying a man should cheat if he wife can not take care of herself but a marriage needs work on both sides.

Sorry to see you leave but you seem to want everyone to agree with what you are saying and if they don't then they are wrong. I posted something this morning and you came after me and I had to leave for a while because I just could not deal with it but I am back and I know that everyone is going to see things differently. Thank god because it would be a boring place if everyone agreed with me.

I have to get involved in the long/short hair debate in Kate's defense. I have superthick hair and I get headaches when it's in a ponytail or barrette. Maybe it's not just a hair thing, but a combo of hair and head because I know other women with thick hair don't have this problem.

Unfortunately, my hair doesn't look very good short either because it's so bushy, but I have tried again and again with long hair to just pull back in a pony and my head throbs by the end of the day. Also, can't just tuck it behind my ears because it's so thick it flops out into my face. I have hair similar to Kate's, although not so extreme in varying lengths and stripes. I spend zero time on it in the morning. I wash, brush in a little product and don't even use a blowdryer or anything.

You are so right!

My hair is very fine. Can I have some of yours???

I wish I could give you some of mine. It is such a pain. It is long right now and when I pull it back I get a headache. I had a baby 9 months ago and lost a lot and I was actually happy until I noticed it all growing back and now I look like a little kid because i have all this new hair growing on my hair line and it stands up and it is thick!!! My mother is a hairdresser in Atlanta and she says I probably some of the thickest hair she has ever seen and she has been doing hair for about 35 years.

Please take my hair!!!:lmao:

She tried to get it cut Hannah throw a fit

When was this?

One of the most recent shows in the new house - prior to the Oprah taping - Hannah wanted her hair cut and Kate said no. Kate wants Hannah's hair long and doesn't care that Hannah wants her hair shorter.

Kate wanted Cara's hair cut and Cara did not want it and she got upset.

My hair sounds just like you. I will see these cute short haircuts and I can't do it because of the bush that will be on my head! It is scary.:lmao:

This is a thread discussing the show, not a thread only discussing how people love the show or love Kate.

It's a great decision to leave if you are incapable of handling opinions that are not the same as your own.

Thank you! Maybe I'm not going senile after all! :rotfl:

I totally thought Hannah asked to get her hair cut shorter and Kate said no, but then I began to question myself. It WAS Cara who didn't want her hair cut, and then didn't Kate make her get it cut even shorter b/c she threw a fit?

Exactly. We all parent differently.

I would not have ever thought about my DD not taking a nap, at home, in her bed. I see people walking around the mall all the time letting their kids sleep in the stroller. Does that make them a bad parent? Nope, just something I never would do. My sister put hers down for a nap and they were not to get up out of bed for anything except to use the bathroom. If they woke up from the nap they were to stay in that bed--rest quietly or look at a book or play with a toy quietly. I can remember seeing my niece stretching to reach for a book whole keeping one hand on the bed! LOL
Pretty extreme if you ask me but those were her rules and that's how she parented. Like I said, we all do it differently. When mine finally woke up (naps were 3 or 4 hours!) I couldn't wait to get to her asap! I missed her. If DH was home, we'd fight to get there first! LOL
