Jon and Kate Plus 8, Official Thread-Part 4

I am like you, I just turned 35 and starting last summer I started losing weight, buying cuter less frumpy clothes and got a fashionable haircut. I am also doing it for me as well as my kids and my DH. I like that I feel better and have better self esteem.

I say good for Kate. I don't see all the bashing because she is putting some time and effort into looking good as anything but jealousy, enby and plain sour grapes. If I had 8 kids I would have a nanny too!!! Is she perfect no, noone is. Is jon perfect no he isn't either. But to slam someone for looking good even through surgery is a bit much for me.

Again, to add to my post above, I am not envious nor do I have a case of sour grapes. I don't see anyone on this board who feels that way. What I do see is a debate on whether Kate's personal needs are taking priority over her children's needs. And a debate on whether she had a breast augmentation is just natural curiosity.

If you are losing weight and getting a new hairstyle, good for you. That's truly wonderful. I think its wonderful that Kate has lost weight and looks good. I'm not envious of her at all. I just happen to think she is more self-absorbed than her children need her to be. JMO.

I don't begrudge Kate working on herself. An she may very well run on the treadmill for an hour. I have a hard time swallowing it's at 5 am when she couldn't get up with the tups when they were babies. She just left them in their cribs until she was ready to get up. This coming from Miss "My kids are my number 1 priority, everything I do is for my kids" Now if she had said that she ran while the kids were at school I think people could swallow that.

As for Jon spending money on the Glassman's well when Kate got her tummy tuck they couldn't afford it and the could very well be his way of paying them back. Although I have a friend who just put a down payment on her $7500 tummy tuck that she is having in August, so a $2000 purse is nothing.

Here is a thought for all of us. How would we like to explain to the world every time someone took a picture of you. Well yes I know we're not on tv but still. Hollywood stars never do so why does Jon????

I don't see the big deal everyone keeps saying how she would never get up with the kids before she doing a lot now that she doesn't llike doing now that Jon isn't there to help

I dont know if this was posted somewhere or not but i noticed on the new issue of People it says "kate her new lonely life". Anyone seen this article yet or is it out yet?

I don't see the big deal everyone keeps saying how she would never get up with the kids before. Now she has to Jon isn't there to anymore.

Jon would have to leave for work at 7:00 so the kids stayed in their crib until Kate was ready to get up. I'm sorry if it was 6:00 and my kids were up at 1yr old so was I big deal. I can sleep when I'm dead.

I do have to disagree on this: "I do think the most important gift 2 parents can give their child is too love one another sincerely." My parents are divorced and it was the best thing in the world for both of them to do. They weren't home at the same times and when they were it was bad to say the least. The best thing they did for my brother and myself was to be in two seperate places and get a divorce. I think children of divorce can be successful and there are many single parents (from rapes, adoptions, horrible accidents where a parent is killed) that can show kids are ok with one parent and don't need to see their parents love each other. Ideally everyone would stay together and be happy all of the time - in reality though, that's not always possible and many times for the best from my experience.

I agree with you. I'm talking the ideal situation here. I think most kids would be better off with divorced parents if the parents do not get along. I also agree with you that children of divorce can do just fine in life--as good or better than someone with 2 parents who are in love with each other. No matter what happens in our lives we all carry baggage into every relationship we have. JMHO.

Her hair is longer, with 8 kids who has time to fix it

She seems to do a fine job on fixing her hair now, even with all eight of them. Shorter hair is probably harder to fix than longer hair since you can just put it up in a ponytail and go.

short hair you don't have to put it up in anything

true, but I wonder how long it takes her to get it colored and cut, and then in the mornings, how long does it take her to get it spiked just right in the back? It seems to me that it would take a bit more effort than just putting it up. Not that it matters to me how Kate wears her hair, I'm just thinking out loud here! :goodvibes

I see

It is funny how people see things differently. Not that there is anything wrong with how you see it. I see her look before the kids as low maintenance.
I have had long, medium and short hair. Long for me is the easiest, medium second. I have not had short hair for years it is too much work to style each day. Long hair for me, is much mor forgiving than short hair. And I am like Kate said about herself, I have very thick hair and the more length I have the more tame it is. So, I just think the long hair on her looks more natural and less work and less done than her multi layered hairdo she has now.
And I can go much longer without a cut than when it is short, short hair needs to be trimmed much more frequently.

That's debatable. (Did I spell that right?)

I've had both. When kate's hair was cute short and blonde (not the dark icky look she sported about the time of their birth) cut short in the back, possibly over the ears and had long bangs down to her eyebrows (but not long side bangs like when she was growing into what she has now), that is a fairly easy short 'do. It depends on the haircut and how well it is cut, but that style takes little time to do, falls into place but must be blown dried and fixed a bit.
However, go into that cut and cut it shorter and you have a lot of work! That is when short hair can be just as time consuming as longer hair. Drying time is cut down but that's all. Unless it is short and spiked, short hair can take a lot of time when done like that.

What she has now is very similar to what I have. Mine's cut better though ;) and I don't have the heavy bang or rooster tails but otherwise it is quite similar w/o looking like 2 different (or 3! LOL) styles on one head. Anyway, THIS is the easiest I have ever had my hair. I'm a hairstylist so I've had a lot of different styles and this one is easy, quick to dry, and stays looking nice enough even after a long day. Kate would look silly to me dressed in such cute clothes and sporting a ponytail! While I'd change up her style in a heartbeat, I'd still give her something short and sassy and this easy to do. JMHO.

What do you mean? He is the one at home with the kids while she travels right? If he is "not there to help" she certainly has other people to. You see she took at least one nanny to the beach, and she isn't the Vietnamese woman who works full time, it's Karla's daughter. During one of the first specials, she left the babies in their beds until she got up at 8 or 9. The twins were going to afternoon preschool or kindergarten. Mady was up alone when Jon left for work, Cara slept in like Kate. Sometimes if the babies were crying Mady would be sent into their room to entertain them without taking them out of bed. I don't think it's horrible, or abusive, just a bit self absorbed. They were out of their cribs at 9ish, back in at 12 until 4 ish, and then Jon was home soon afterwards, and back to bed before 8. That's year old babies in their beds 17 or so hours a day. Many people would find that a bit odd. Who can't be a morning person once you have kids? Is school going to wait? Our middle school bus comes by at 6:25 am! That's the thing with Hannah and her migraines if she gets up too early...what's she going to do about school? Kate has also said her hair is short because it gives her headaches when it is long!? Hannah's is down to her hiney! Hello. I'm done for now.

I dunno even know where to start so I won't. Well I do have one point I have watched this show from day one and have never saw Kate make either one of the twins take care of the others when they were babies. Do you have kids?? I know alot of people who aren't morning people even with kids. I didn't know anything about Hannah and her miagranes. I know alot of people with long hair who don't have headaches, If you don't like the show turn it off. You seem really upset by this. I would suggest turning off the tv for your health.

She flat refuses to give Hannah anything other than a trim. Wonder why?

Does she ever get it spiked "just right" in the back??!! :lmao: Not that I have seen! :rotfl: It often looks like she has been sleeping on one side or spot. The only time I have seen it "just right" is when she's had it done for a photo! There are secrets to cutting it to help it spike up though. I am sure that helps but gravity pulls it down or else she doesn't look at the back from all angles in a mirror. She may not have time for that! Remember those big high backcombed bangs from the 80's? :rotfl2: People only looked at those from the front--never the sides or back. Those were hysterical!!

I have heard Kate say her hair isn't "easy" that it takes work. I still say 100% that the reason her hair takes work is because it is not a good base haircut.

We're talking 20-45 mins start to finish for her haircuts. Probably every 4 weeks. Her color could be done in 30 more mins. but they probably foil that mess (to add more colors and charge more to boot!) so it depends how fast the colorist/stylist is at putting foils in.

She tried to get it cut Hannah throw a fit

Was that Hannah who did that? I was thinking of the haircuts before Oprah and the Globetrotters and someone pitched a fit. I don't remember it being hannah, though. Now that I think about it, didn't she want it shorter and Kate said no. ARRGGH! I can't remember! I hate getting old, :lmao:!
