Jon and Kate Plus 8, Official Thread-Part 4

Kate & Jon quit their jobs to film the show .. so they could be home with their children. That's the reason they gave for quite a while.

I wonder how many times they've said that on the show. Even TLC says "Because of the show, the kids and the family have economic security and the luxury of a mom who can stay at home and raise them."

Kate had been traveling quite a bit up until Mother's Day/sextuplets birthday... that was the first day she'd been home for a while. Instead of spending the day at home, she used it as a tabloid photo op (IMO) and went to the tanning salon.

Now I certainly don't expect her to be at home all the day .. but it was Mother's Day, the children's birthday, and a Sunday. If I had been away from my family more often than not over the last several weeks, I could have waited a day to tan. Obviously Kate couldn't. LOL.

I really hate when they show the eposided out of order. It really makes it hard to follow the show.

I don't see why some people on this thread give me a hard time because I don't believe anything out of tabloid some people on this thread act like tabloid are the gossips.

my thing with the tabloids ... and the (generalized) people who dismiss them or believe them as the Gospel truth .. in my mind, it's an all or none thing. you can't choose to believe one event/act is true because it's in (as an example) Us Weekly, but then decide something else isn't true because it's in Us Weekly. Make sense?

She did a lot of traveling the previous 2 weeks, before she came home for the birthday party. She had to be exhausted. When she was putting the party favors together, she kept putting her head down and saying how exhausted and tired she was. And complaining how she was home alone.

Remember the cake she had in her hands? on Mother's Day? I didn't think it was a birthday cake, it was such a small box. I thought maybe she got a cake for her own mom, for Mother's Day. Many speculate that she has no contact with her parents, but I have a hard time believing she "never" talks to her mom. I think they just don't want to be part of the tapings.

Apart from Kevin & Jodi no-one else (that seems really close to them) has come out and said anything. I'm disinclined to fully believe Jodi and Kevin because they have previously had a well documented fall out with Kate especially, and I kinda think they're just stirring it for a bit of attention.

The thing is, there doesn't seem to be anyone else that was really close to them. Even before all this, even when the show was just starting, outside family was rarely even mentioned. Kate has parents and I think a couple of sisters. Jon has a mom and at least one brother. I have always thought it was very strange that none of them seem to be in their lives. I've read the stories about Kate being enstranged from her parents, but it's more than that, it seems they aren't close to anyone. Kate never talks about friends (other than Beth, who is no longer around now either) Jon never mentions any friends or any family. Even if none of the family wanted to be on the show, you would think that you'd hear "We went to see Aunt Mary last week." or something like that. It's just strange and seems to stem from Kate. Like she cut everyone off and long before all this trouble.

I was just looking at the iTunes store. Guess what Tv show is number 1 this week? Jon & Kate!!! OMG, I find that truely disturbing!

I don't want to get into the debat of who should stay home and who should work. I worked when both of mine were babies and feel I am fortunate to stay home now.
Anway, people keep saying that it is wrong for Kate to travel and work and some people are taking it the other way and saying that their husbands travel and so should their kids be screwed up.
Anyway you want to justify Kate traveling is up to you but for me personally I think that there is a huge difference between a mother and father traveling. I know it is not PC to say, but there is a reason that men and women are different. There is a reason that we have the babies and the men don't and I am not talking about the pain. In most cases then not the mother is the more nurturing one. She is the one that the kids want when they are hurt or upset. Now I know that is not always the case but I think it is the majority.
The women needs to be home or at least cut her schedule in half for her kids. She had them, she wanted them, she needs to be there for them.

I agree 100% I have been in those very shoes being gone away, it was horrible. Even when it got down to just 4 days a month I would get home and dread the time I would have to be back at the airport. I could not listen to certain songs on the radio on my drive to the airport or i would just get all teary eyed. My husband, although never travelled as much as I did, it is just not so hard on him. That was 14 years ago and I am happy to say I do not regret my choice to not travel for work.

That might have been their initial intention but other oppurtuntites have opened up for Kate...They might not last long so she is grabbing them whilst she can....One parent is home full time. I don't blame Kate one bit..Good for her working to support her large family.

I am sure most people read things with a skeptical eye these days (truly who knows what to actually believe), but I would urge caution in believing anything stated in the above quoted article.

I am a local resident (grew up in Wyomissing and attended middle school there, but I am almost 10 years older than Jon) and I still live in the general area. The places quoted above do exist, but the particulars do not ring true for several reasons.

The most blatant issue is that if you lived on State Hill Road in Wyomissing(and really hard to actually live on that road since it is almost entirely businesses...maybe two houses in several miles of road?), you would actually not attend the Wyomissing school district (complicated districting lines in that area). What that article states does not match known biographical facts.

I noticed this on Little People, Big World. The whole season was out of sequence.




It surprises me how people are speaking now, vs. when the show started, even even last Fall, many of us were questioning, why neighbors, families, parents, were not making any statements. Just Jody's sister, and she almost got crucified, sorry for the religious statement. Many of us thought, Kate had some kind of confidentiality gags on everyone.

I get what you are saying about homes on a Business road, but in my town, our Main Street is non-existant. 10 years ago, we had 10 businesses. All the businesses, either left, or relocated to the outskirts of town. Is this maybe what happened in your city?

Hi guys, I just saw this discussion (which came through my website) and I would like to clear up the confusion for you (sorry):

PAPrincess, you are right ... I forgot that State Hill Road turns into Wyomissing BLVD ... Jon actually lived on this road! Sorry it's been a long time (I now live in Boca Raton) and I haven't been in the neighborhood for quite some time. Besides, I met Jon in my twenties, not during High School (I went to the Dump on the Hump/Reading High - Class of 91) However, everything I said was true!

McDiser: Sorry, I really didn't write that article to grab any spotlights! I'm a writer, and moneyremix is just one of my blogs. With all this talk about these two in the news, I thought I'd just give my opinion/two cents of Jon, who by the way was a solid individual when I knew him (pretty honest too), and how greed sometimes tears people apart (moneyremix is a lighthearted financial blog, by the way). I just thought it would be nice to talk about with my readers. I'm seriously not pulling an Aunt Jodie! Besides, I don't want any media attention anyways!

Another poster called us delusional for trying to sell a convertible, but our idea was so much more than that (engine type, features, etc.) and I had drawings and a clay sculpture of what it should look like, and we were shot down! Still don't want to talk about it - LOL!

Well, I hope I cleared some things up, and that you won't be too mean on me when I get out of here. If you have any further questions, why not send me a comment on my blog (I could always use some more readers anyways) because I don't think I'll be writing on this DISblog anymore (I don't care for Disney, which is three hours away)!

I agree with Tinker. The kids are growing up and Kate has a new world open to her. It's not like the traveling went on for years. It's fairly new. We really don't know how often she flew home, but even if she was gone more the past couple of months, she did think she had their dad home with them. I don't see any difference in which parent is home...I just think it's great one was able to be.
The picture we saw of Kate coming out of the tanning place (if that's where she was) carrying something) is just a picture. I didn't hear her give an interview where she said, oh, I stopped to tan. Maybe she was picking up somehting there. Our local tanning hut sells all sorts of hair products, jewelry. I find it hard to believe there was a cake in that box for an at home birthday party..unless they were all going to eat crumbs. We also don't know how long she was out of the house. Maybe it was an hour before she had to get home and get kids ready for church. I went out on Mother's Day to the supermarket..I don't get what the big deal was.

As for mentioning friends, one of the twins mentioned a friends name and something about playing with her, and the other told her hush, we can't say that name, so I guess it's like survivor, unless the person gives permission, even their name doesn't get mentioned.

I just don't get how some of these things are big deals (although they do make for interesting convo's).

I agree. Many assumptions have been made in regards to J & K and the bottom line is that we really have no idea. Perhaps Kate was felt so out of place being around Jon given what has happened that she needed to step out for awhile and collect her thoughts. Either way I have no problem with her being out running errands on Mother's Day/tups birthday.

Yes but your not Kate and he's not Jon. I know several women that will make their husbands lives miserable until they get what they want. I feel that Kate falls into that category.

I mentioned upthread, I don't think it's unreasonable for Kate to be out -- it isn't what I'd choose to do, but I'm lazy like that, especially on Sundays.

my "issue" (and in no way a big deal at all ..) is that I believe that it was a photo op for the tabloids... although a better/different photo op would have been Kate playing with the children instead of being photographed in front of a tanning salon.

then again, it may not have been a set up shot. Kate may not have realized the paps were in town. it was the first day back in a while, and maybe she thought she could run some errands in peace.

But she was there for them at home up until the last year, it's not as if she has been doing this hectic schedule since their birth.

And marriage and parenthood is a partnership - both parties can and should 'hands on parent'.

It's pretty obvious that at the present time Kate has the potential to earn more $, so I don't see any reason for her not to take advantage of that potential, and I do think she's doing it for the children. If Jon could be the major earner in the family I'm sure he would be out working/travelling.

She's savvy enough to realise that the show does have an end point so she's taking advantage of it while she can.
