So who is her friend with the baby?

I have to say, I really don't get all the Kate hate. John's been shown with pictures of his 'friend' in the middle of the night. He's been off to Utah with her on Kate's birthday. Kate was accused of holding hands with her bodyguard, although no one had a cell phone with them to take pictures, so so far we have nothing to show she really had an affair (and I'm not saying she isn't), unless you count all the pictures of her and her bodyguard where they cut off the other people with them.
Kate is mean to Jon on the show loudly, and he is mean back to her, albeit quieter. Jon says he wants out of the show, but it's Kate's fault that they are still in it. Uh, if he really wanted out of the show, couldn't he pay up the fine, and be out of it. Or is it that he wants his freedom, but wants the money the show brings. But it's OK for him to say he wants out and stay, but not OK for her to say she enjoys what she is doing and staying.
Kate was a bad girl for staying on vacation or shooting or whatever, while the twins went back to their dad and school, but if Kate keeps them out of school she's scum.
Just to add to this, shame on Kate for getting her hair done, and dressing nice, etc, all the junk I said earlier, but no one says anything about what a bum Jon looks like in his ripped up jeans and playing with his belly button.

To me it's easy. Kate is just plain not likeable and so easy to rip apart. I enjoy talking about celebrities especially what they are wearing and how they look. Kate wanted to be a celebrity, so be it.

Seriously? Have you read some of the vile crap people spew over on GWoP? I don't blame Kate one bit for having bodyguards after reading just a few of the posts over there. There are some real hateful people out there. And I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Kate or the kids had been threatened.

When it comes to celebrities who have been stalked, threatened, or killed; I only know about the perps being over the top fans...never heard of someone doing it because they didn't like the celeb.

I'm curious what you like about Kate and/or the show? Plenty of people have lots of reasons to like her and the show I'm sure. I just never hear any specifics. Do you know anyone like Kate? Would you want to be her friend? Neighbor? Where do you think her family and friends are? I respect your opinions; obviously there's no right or wrong. I truly would like to see both sides.

The baby on the ferry has now been reported to be a stranger's that she asked to hold. I have no idea if that is true, but she isn't vacationing with friends and not many people take a newborn to the beach on vacation. They could be locals I guess.

The first time Kari saw the show, she felt sorry for Jon. She said he looked so lost and confused with Kate always talking about everything. And it didn't seem like he could ever voice his opinion.

I know a lot of kids go through divorce. But now that the little ones are finally in school, it would probably be best to postpone the show for a while... do like summer updates or something. It's one thing being on tv constantly, it's another thing to have the whole school talking about your parents relationship.

Kate seems way too over powering for jon... and maybe he wants to be around people that he can feel in control of... or at least on an equal level.

I certainly don't hate Kate, because I don't know her. (I don't hate anyone .. there are people I don't like, but I don't think I've ever met anyone that inspired me to truly hate them)

That said, I don't like either one of them. LOL ... but Kate just grates on my nerves. She's not someone I'd likely be friends with IRL.

And what I know is that the stalkers of celebrities are obsessed. I don't know if it is obsessed love or obsessed hate. Regardless, if I felt threatened by someone, whether it was a hater or an over the top fan, I would get protection.

And IIRC, Mark David Chapman, John Lennon's stalker/murderer, killed him because he was angry with Lennon's statement that "The Beatles were bigger than Jesus".

I saw those baby pictures earlier and I was going to post a link, I didn't.
The first thing I could think of when I saw them, great PR just like a politican,hold that baby it will create empathy. Ot was not a friends, ha, how ya like that. Flames ,I am feeling warm now, I also thought I wonder if the baby was a paid model.

I think the most disgusting thing about the both of them is that farce of a vow renewal last August.
I find it had to believe that anyone would think that was anything more than playing to cameras at this point.

I like that she laughs. So many people say they never see her laughing, but I do. Her elaugh is like Duff's..very infectious. I see the gentleness (OK, not always LOL) she has with her children. Yes, she gets upset when they throw up all over the bed, or get gum in their hair (not so much when she threatened to toss the lovey) but that doesn't mean she loves them less, it just means another load of laundry.
I like the special days she does, such as the Valentine's Day. She did it up so nice for the kids.
I don't know where her friends and family are, because that isn't something that TLC wants us to know. I have heard one of the twins mention a friend and the other shush them, saying they aren't supposed to say their friends names, so I assume (yep, I know what that makes me) it's the same with Kate. The baby was mentioned to be a friends baby, and I don't know that it wasn't
I love watching the kids play and interact with each other. I actually enjoy watching them at meal time and am amazed that they all get food at once. I like Kate's organizational skills.
I like to see her on the few occassions TLC lets us see her parked with a kid or two on her lap. Unfortunately TLC seems to think that isn't what we want to see. I like it back when her and Jon talked more about their church, and were shown getting the kids ready to go. I like that she seems to be (when TLC let's us see it) charity minded.

I like to see when her and Jon go places together, like the trip to Disney..all that stuff piled in the car in a certain order (OK, not so much the ice cream, but I did cringe when it started spilling, knowing they had the rest of the day to get through and no other clothes with them). I loved seeing the kids at the different amusement parks (not so much Mady, when she was in a funk) and having a good time. I love that the kids laugh at nothing when Kate is around. So there you have it. There is also things I'm not happy with Kate about, but you didn't ask me that.

Totally agreed!

You know people are texting each other when person A texted, puts down their phone, less than 30 seconds later person B picks up their phone, reads a message, responds, less than 30 seconds later person A pick up their phone.... The pattern repeats. It doesn't take a genius to figure out 2 people in close proximity are texting each other. It is the 21st century's equivalent of passing notes in class.

Don't you think they'd hold onto the phone and try to make it a little less obvious? Or they were texting really "dumb" things like "hi" and "how are you?" just to give us something to talk about....

I was definitely sucked into the drama that their life has become and while I've never been a "hater" (not a fan of that word at all), I was not a fan of Kate, or Jon, for that matter. I know that TLC and the media has sensationalized this beyond any sort of reality television... and now I follow along, not because I'm a fan or anti-fan, but because I've been sucked into the story for a year. I've invested too much time now to walk away. I want to know how it ends.

And I like this thread, most of the time. Good people here.

Was it just the one picture? How on Earth could you prove that's her? I think it's kind of smart (that might not be the "right" word) that Jon didn't totally cut her off. If they're "just friends" then no I don't think they should stop hanging out with each other. If there's something more, then I think he should dump her and wait until they have a little piece of paper saying he and Kate are no longer married. JMHO

That baby is beautiful and looks very young! Do they have family in the area?? They were looking at houses there right? Was there a reason (other than warm weather and TLC) they were thinking about moving there?? From what the "locals" said in previous interviews, they weren't allowed anywhere near Kate to even thank her for coming to their establishment so I would think it has to be someone that Kate actually knew if she was holding their baby. Maybe Kate was picking it up - didn't she want to adopt because she loves babies? (j/k of course!)

I'm with you here. Just because I like them (when I do like them) on TV, doesn't mean I would want to be best friends. I would like to go out with either for an evening with the agreement they would answer my questions, though, and I would love to babysit for a night with all the little darlings.

Really? I've never heard that; very interesting. I read the book Let Me Take You Down about Mark David Chapman, and remember him being a fan and obsessed with Catcher in the Rye. , but it's been a long time. Some kind of nutty, and very sad; that's for sure. Lennon said that in 1966, and was killed in 1980. Talk about holding a grudge!

back on topic...those Gosselin kids get more beautiful every time I see them.

Just wanted to say to DMRick that I hear ya, girl! Your positives are also mine and I just don't get all the critizism of this girl. I'll keep watching and see if I see it though.

I watched the vow renewal and as I stated before I felt Kate was much more into that and sincere than Jon. I felt he was almost mocking their marriage during the whole thing.

I watch the Gosselin's Go Green last night and could not see all the stuff they were complaining about between her and that "green guy". I thought they seemed to have an understanding about each other and seemed to have fun poking fun of each other and what not. I just didn't get why people thought she was a monster in that episode.

I keep watching and thinking I'm going to see what people love to *hate* but I don't.

I would really like to see the Disney trip one again because that was the first time I watched an episode and when I saw the ice cream incident that was my first exposure to her. I remember watching and thinking how that was how I would have reacted to that (wrong or not ) . Then, all I heard was how terrible of a person she was cause of the ice cream incident. So now, I think I should watch that again (maybe I'll try youtube) and see if I still can relate to it or not.


The baby is very cute. Maybe she made friends on the trip or just on the ferry and they wrote it up as a "friend's baby". I doubt it was a photo op. So many women I know love to hold babies--I am not one of them. I'd hold your puppy but not your baby.

I also wondered what happened to the possibility of them moving to NC. Was it maybe because NC has strict child labor laws, and they decided to stay in PA so they could keep the show going?
