I think they planned to seperate and maybe work on things but for Kate something happened (what it is, she hasn't made public yet) that made that impossible. Maybe it was the apartment shopping in NYC (not locally) or maybe it was his talking and giving pictures to "teen girls" that were at the gate to their property.
I heard this as a reason for stating the two year seperation on the divorce papers. If they were living "seperate & apart" for two years, then all the money she made from the book and speaking engagments wouldnt be part of the marriage property. There has been some speculation that perhaps it was a financial decision.

If they were really living "apart" for over two years then the entire show has been a lie. The first (non "special") episode of the show aired in April 2007.

I understand that it doesn't mean that they have actually mean that they have been seperated for at least two years.Actually there's a link on the other thread about the 2 year thing.
Basically for the ease of the divorce it is better to say they have been seperated for two years then for two months. Just makes it quicker and less messy (if that is even possilbe).I'm still not sure I understand this whole 2 years thing with relation to the divorce...
Actually there's a link on the other thread about the 2 year thing. It doesn't mean they have been seperated for 2 years. It means if Jon contests the "irreconcilable differences" (or however it's worded) then the divorce would be finalized after 2 years of seperation instead of 90 days (if he agrees.) Sorry, I'm too tired to look up the link.
They would need to prove that they have been living as "individuals" and not a "couple" for 2 years. Not necessarily in different homes. If they kept separate bank accounts, separate credit cards, bought & sold property or cars individually without consulting the other.....these are all things you would do if you weren't married & considered yourself single. Looking back on the events that have played out....it's very possible they have been living this way for 2 years.
I would think getting "remarried" less than a year ago would pretty much say to anyone that they have been living as a couple.it may be hard to show they have not been a couple for 2 years.
Is there two interviews? One on Today and one on GMA? Here is an article about a GMA interview with People Magazine.
You know I never understood why everyone was bashing Kate for doing book tours...she was out working making money for her and the kids. What was Jon doing out partying with 20 year old girls. When i first started watching the show i liked Jon and thought Kate was to uptight, but now i think he is the one that is selfish and she is doing all she can for her family.
