Jon an Kate plus 8 ?

that Kate! god bless her, I don't know how she does it!:confused3 I have watched their specials a shows and I just love them!:happytv: what I wonder is how on earth does she keep up with all that laundry??:laundy:

I haven't paid that much attention to the laundry so I am not sure. But I just LOVE the show. I watch in amazement most of the time that she doesn't just sit down and scream. I'm ready to do that with just two under three! I think that it is a great example of REAL life since they aren't perfect and they deal with their kids in a real way. I admire them so much!!!!

She has tons of help!!!! She goes to the spa more than anyone I know. While I find their show somewhat entertaining I don't think she is some wonderwoman. She has more help and alone time than anyone I know.

I bet she doesn't have as much alone time as you think. Remember it is television and editing is a wonderful tool. If we had six kids that age, I am sure we would welcome all the help possible.

Is this based on personal knowledge or just your perception from watching the show?
In the editing room, you can make me look like a really nice, wonderful guy... In person... not so much. :headache:

I agree that editing can make a person seem awful or nice but she said in one of the shows that she goes once a month.

That may be true and I am sure editing is a big part of it, but I still don't think she is wonderwoman. I think she's okay even if I don't agree with the way she speaks to other adults. JMHO.

I loved when one of the boys pulled off a knob on the girls new bedroom furniture and she went back and forth to their rooms asking about it. I've went on rants like that too....so I was glad to see her being so human. While she does nip at Jon a lot, he has his days too. And remember, edited for television! I think they are great, and much more realistic then many of those multiple shows. I like the other ones too, that start with a C? They seem realistic (even said on another board that the crew was with them all the time and they wouldn't do it again unless they had more to offer)...which I thought was true. The Duggars make me feel inadequate LOL.

As a member of the same community as the Gosselins: You've heard the saying "What you see is what you get?".:rolleyes1 Oh yes, I've heard plenty from neighbors, moms circles etc... It's not a huge town!

I would love to be as organized as her and I agree she has OCD. She admits that. Did you notice under the frequently asked questions she said she doesn't even know how much she spends on groceries but it is about 600 to 800 dollars, not that 150 a week like suggested in the show due to editing. Watching them go to WDW got me jealous too. I want the YOAMD hats! That show really got my kids excited to go to WDW though :woohoo:

Thanks,

There is something cute about her on the show. (I'm a guy) but I bet she could wear thin if you had to be around (or live around) her all the time. Her OCD comes out as endearing on the show, but I know first hand it can/will really annoy a lot of people.

I also live in a small town. Yep, there isn't much that goes unnoticed. (or un-gossip'd about)

I read on another board that until last year they had 75 helpers per week. I guess the poster went to one of their speaking engagements. She didn't really say anything else about the speaking, so I'm not sure how that all worked.

She does have a lot of help, but it has to be stressful to have that many kids all the time.

Back to the garbage can - I think the stainless steel one they have by the kitchen counter is a Simple Human. They're not cheap - most models run in the $100 range. But they are very sturdy and should last for many years. We just bought one last week for our recycling and we really like it. We found them at Bed, Bath and Beyond and Storables.

We have that garbage can. It was $100 but I love it!! I believe we got it at either Home Depot or Lowes. I didn't notice the laundry sorter but if you go to the container store you will find amazing things for organizing your house. Also, Ikea has the stuff she used to organize the toys in the basement. I loved everything she picked!!

Where they live looks like a really nice town. Anyone know where it is?

I think they are in Harrisburg PA but I am not sure. As much as it pains me to admit it I agreed with her with the cleaning ladies. That one that she interviewed who wouldn't scrub the floor because she has arthritis in her family? She should not be cleaning houses. Come on! Then she says how she goes around with her electrostatic duster. Look- if I clean my house better than the house cleaner why would I pay them? I also think she was right to pull out the stack of books to see if the lady dusted. I take things off the entertainment center before I dust. I don't clean around things. So while I think she should spend less time scrubbing her floors (3x a day!) and play with her kids more, I think those cleaning ladies were stinky.

Jon and KAte live in central Pa,I work where the sextuplets were born.

Sorry, I know this is OT, but did anyone catch last night's episode? It was the Christmas one and I'm glad my kids didn't watch it with me because I'm guessing they don't do the Santa thing. I get the impression they are pretty religious so that doesn't necessarily surprise me, but it caught me off-guard. It also got me wondering whether or not they celebrate Halloween because you would think they would do an episode on that if they did. Unless they did and I'm just forgetting.

Another question...Does anyone know if Jon or Kate have any living parents because it strikes me as odd that you never see an actual grandparent in any episodes. They have lots of "Nana's", but I don't remember any talk of grandparents visiting, etc. Just curious is all.

Why were you glad that your kids didn't watch the Christmas episode? They didn't say that there was no Santa, did they? I guess I'm not sure what there was in the episode that was "disrespectful" of Santa and what caught you off guard. Was Jon supposed to dress up as Santa and hand out all the presents?

I think I heard Jon mention not being close to his mom (I think his father passed away). I'm not sure about the relationship w/ her parents though - I'm guessing that they don't live nearby.

I found the christmas show to be delightful. There was some tension making cookies with 8 children :rolleyes1 , but there was a lot of love and family time in this show. They seem to be teaching the children the joy of giving back to others.

I know that others have commented on how much STUFF they are given but the children really seemed delighted with everything they got, including underwear!!!
