Jollywood Nights vs MVMCP

So trying to decide between Jollywood and MVMCP. I have done MVMCP before and was thinking Jollywood but considering both are priced around the same. I know at MVMCP there are treats included like cookies and stuff and many options of treats to purchase, parades, and so much more.
On the other hand I have never been to Jollywood and it’s billed as an adult event and we have no kids.
So what is everyone’s thoughts who has been to both

A few changes I saw for JN this year: 5 hours instead of only 4, have fireworks, and it will come with a themed snack.

JN prices are a bit cheaper than MVMCP each week, between $20-$30 less per ticket and $40 less on last dates.

We tried JN mid-December last year and enjoyed it. The 2 shows were fantastic. The adult vibe of the party was cool.

DH and I were discussing our Nov trip this year and if we’ll buy party tickets or not. He felt JN wasn’t as good a value as MVMCP, which I can see. But another way to look at the value is comparing to HS After Hours, which is at least $125 that time of year, only 3 hours and doesn’t have the unique holiday offerings. Looking at it that way JN is not a bad value - maybe ~$30 more than AH tickets but with almost double the time and special character greets, photo-ops, shows, atmosphere, etc.

I went to both last year and, by far, preferred MVMCP. I found JN downright boring - the mainstage show was ill-conceived and the Night Before Christmas show seemed out of place, IMHO. It really wasn't a festive atmosphere at all. I know they are trying to make tweaks this year, but I would be hesitant to throw money at that again. MVMCP has been around for so long and they have it down to a science - it's just a great, festive atmosphere with great shows and treats!

I hadn’t thought of it that way. Thanks

We'll be there the entire week of Thanksgiving and are trying to decided between the two. Does anyone know when JN and MVMCP typically sell out for that week? I don't want to wait too long and miss both.

We did both MVMCP and JN (first night - ugh) last year and we are not doing JN again this year. On the whole, it just didn't feel that festive to us. Admittedly, that first night was a disaster of disorganization, so we didn't really get to experience the shows because of the short time frame and how long the lines were. In the end, it basically worked out like an after hours for us, which is fine, but HS is our least favorite park.
So, our money this year is taking us back to MVMCP where I will happily watch it "snoap" on Main Street U.S.A., have cookies and cocoa, wave to Santa during the parade, enjoy the beautiful fireworks, and also get in a bunch of rides. (And we made that choice even though we are also doing MNSSHP in late September.) Magic Kingdom just has the party vibe we prefer.

Wife and I prefer MVMCP, but our daughters (15 & 19) loved getting dressed up and going to Jollywood Nights. We all really enjoyed the Muppet variety show and NMBC stage show. MVMCP just exudes pure Christmas magic and whimsy, while JN is more of a glitzy holiday cocktail party.

Glad you posted this. Im wondering also. My kids want to do both but I feel like it may be
overkill. It sure feels like overkill on the price:rotfl2:.

My DH and I did both last year (two MCMCP and one JN) for our 30th anniversary trip (no kids). We hadn't been to DW for close to 10 years and used the party tickets to mainly ride rides, so the party aspect was a secondary thing for us. We did stop for cookies and food samples and everything we had was good. We did not watch any of the shows as we were concentrating on riding the rides. I would totally do both again just for ride access.

I'm in the same boat. I don't really want to commit to doing both. I'm interested in JN because I prefer the retro feel of DHS during the holiday season and there is also a DVC discount for ALL dates. Also, the only reason why I would even do MVMCP would be the parade anyway as I've done the party a few times. Right now I'm leaning toward JN even though it would have to be a Saturday evening which concerns me as far as crowds. Then again, we are staying at GF the first half of our trip so I'd be much closer to MK. Ugh!

If it's like last year (and how MNSSHP is going this year) all dates will sell out so doesn't really make a difference which night you choose to go as crowds will be the same at all.

These are perfect descriptions! I did both last year and I did give MVMCP the edge for the better value. But, with the longer hours at JN and the addition of a treat, they may line up better this year.

WHY YOU GOT TO DO THIS?!?!

We already have our MVMCP tickets and was debating Jollywood. We were ready to pounce last year but I held back because I didn't trust DHS could host ~ and they basically failed. Now they have added the time and small extras I am tempted but so far been hesitant to spend that kind of money.

Now I'm torn again when you say it like that!!! 😵

Okay. I didn't think they would all sell out but it's been a few years since I've attended. I know I've gone to a couple of parties in the past that were less crowded than others and tickets were still available.

Funny it was you I was thinking of when I was reading about the updates Disney made to Jollywood Nights. Hopefully they have ironed out the kinks and adding the extra hour sold buying a ticket on me. Plus I had an amazing time doing the AH DHS event last week. So much better compared to Epcot's.

Do they still do Sunset Seasons Greetings? DHS and Epcot are my favourite parks at Christmas. I just love the retro feel of DHS and the international feel and interesting beer availability at Epcot.

I LOVE DHS at Christmas, passionately when they had Osborne Lights. As you say the retro is perfection. We enjoyed Epcot last December, DS#1 liked seeing the different "Santa" figures and the Witch in Italy was amazing. The two of us return this December which will become our annual winter trip replacing February (give or take time frame) we've done for at least a decade.

I'm REALLY torn now as I have booked a VERY unexpected last minute trip to LA in November with DS#2. We are flying out for a special rare concert and were going to fly back the next day but DH (who will stay home with DS#1) said "stay and go to DL" ..... WHAT? So we are. A first for both of us. DL ticket for two days would equal the cost of two JN tickets. So right now I'm saying no ........... but yeah never know as long as my date stays available ... so torn. 😔

For now we have MNSSHP 🎃 and MVMCP 🎅 booked.

👿 Do it! Do it! Do it!! ;)

OK - Now returning to 😇

🤣

We are planning a trip for 2025 and are considering Jollywood nights. It looks right up our alley. It will me Myself, my husband and our 21 year old daughter. I am getting the impression that it's a more adult centered event than the Magic Kingdom party. Can anyone weigh in on this?

I did both back to back last year around the 5-8 of December so the problems with Jollywood had been ironed out by then. I very much enjoyed both. I think MVMCP is still the most festive with that parade and fireworks and snow on Main Street - it just has all the feels. Jollywood has great characters to meet and the music was fantastic. I enjoyed the shows but didn't see them all and didn't eat too much of the special food (and I don't drink alcohol). If I could only do one...I'd still probably do MVMCP. Jollywood needs something more and I don't know what - but I hope they figure it out because the theme of that party is wonderful.
