:goodvibes I have decided to join the WISH forum. I love the DIS and have tried the sparkpeople site, but found it difficult to navigate. Gave me some good ideas though and motivation to start. Grammy

Welcome to WISH!

I'd suggest taking a look at the sticky thread WISH Challenge info where you can click to take the DIS WISH Challenge. That gives you a bit of info about what WISH is.

In this main part of WISH you will find many threads where people offer support to each other. Browse these and join in anywhere you want. Everyone is most supportive. You might also try starting one of your own for folks to join in.

I would definitely recommend posting often. I find that offering support to others is motivational for the times I don't necessarily "feel" like doing the things I know I should with my lifestyle choices.

There is a journal section where you can start a journal to record things that keep you moving and ask others to support you.

There is a recipe section where you can find many great ideas.

We've also got a section for Events/Competitions where you can find others who may be training for a particular event and training tips.

Set yourself up so that you can make positive steps toward a healthy lifestyle and try not to think of things using the "D" word. Set small goals and have fun!

Thanks for the welcome and advice Tiger Lilly! I will be starting to get familiar with what this forum has to offer and hope I can be a help to others also. Grammy

:welcome: Grammynelliebelle!!! (I love your screen name)!

WISH is a wonderful place to find support, friendship and advice. I hope you will visit us often. I have been around here for several years and have found that I do my best when I stick around the WISH boards, the accountability and support are wonderful.

Are you following a certain program or are you just working on getting healthy on your own? Either way, you will find someone here who has been there, done that. Again, welcome!!

Thanks tiggerlover for the welcome. I'm basically also doing core, but trying to pay attention to portion sizes as that is a big downfall for me. I love the good foods as well as the not so good. I think Im starting to realize what is meant by how full you feel and when to stop eating, but Im not there yet. Also trying to drink the water and walk 20 min or so each day. Trying to check in here each day and post a little. Grammy

Grammy can I just say I have been lurking around here and would finally like to start making some lifestyle changes of my own, i am lacking motivationand i have also tried the sparkpeople site but it was hard to navigate and my inbox was always full.

Good luck on your journey....

Tink

Granny, I am in the same boat as you, as a foodie it has been hard to learn how to stop eating when I am full. I am (slowly) learning to slow down and enjoy my food, but it is hard. If you are following Core (of Flex) you should check out the WW thread here, great thread, great support and always nice to hear other folks ideas. Here is the link if you haven't checked it out yet:

 Tink. Core is a part of the Weight Watchers plan and it is based on the premiss that you eat off of a Core food group and you eat until you are satisfied, not stuffed. Here is a link to NBC, they wrote an article on the Core program: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5774013/ And of course you could probably find more information at the link I posted above for Granny or even at www.weightwatchers.com.

Hi Tink, Another good site is www.dwlz.com. The person who operates it is named dotty and she is a weatlth of info. She has a section related to the WW core program as well as the flex (traditional) program. I went through my things to see if I had an extra booklet from WW that I would send you, but I must have thrown it out. The library might have more infor also. Good luck to you.
