Johnny Depp / POTC

....which proves that he is more than a "method actor"....some memorable characters a little too close to home.

Sweeney Todd. Willy Wonka. The Mad Hatter. Mort Rainey.

In answer to the original question, I doubt Jack Sparrow will be removed. Yes, it is undeniably Johnny Depp (just as he often plays similar quirky characters). But from the POTC ride perspective, it’s Jack Sparrow, a fictional character from the movies. I’m not saying I agree one way or the other, I’m just trying to figure out Disney’s likely response.

Has he ever been charged with an offence and has there been a criminal trial in any jurisdiction? Or has there only been civil litigation, with the much lower ‘balance of probabilities’ burden of proof?

So would it be OK for "Captain EO" to return, on the basis that the star is not Michael Jackson, but a fictional character named "Captain EO"?

The news was announced while we were at WDW last week. I guess it was my imagination that Jack Sparrow was downplayed on POC? I swear I thought he was featured more on the ride, but this trip it seemed like other than the very end I didn't really even notice his presence.

Captain EO wasn't removed for that, it was removed because it was awful the first time through and just as bad the second. As much as I thought MJ was a nut case, I was upset with Disney for exploiting his image after he died. That was no class at all. That was also after all the accusations had come to light and the common consensus was that just because he was acquitted doesn't mean he was innocent. Just not proven!
