Johnny Depp Fans Are Petitioning To Bring Him Back For 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' Reboot

IMHO #4 was the worst by a mile! We are HUGE Pirates fans. In #4 Penelope Cruz was pregnant and only shot from the chest up. They used a body double for Johnny in any shot without his face showing - (which was most of his scenes). It was horrible. I’d say go watch it and see for yourself but I don’t want you to have to watch it.
(my DH knows JD’s stunt double from 1,2&3)

If he is actually in #6 as his charming self then yes, but really they need the original 3 (Jack, Will and Elizabeth).
Maybe a total reboot is best.....

I love how we're arguing about which "Pirates" movie was the worst one; there were a few candidates! They should definitely ignore the petitioners and set Mr. Depp adrift.

agreed the penelope was not a good choice for the 4th film. not even about her being pregnant - just her character and the job she did overall felt distracting and goofy and i didn't buy any of it.

the first 3 presented themselves as dead serious, but with fun quirks. 4 went too silly, probably featuring jack too much. Depp got overexposed around that time. a year or so later you had Lone Ranger and we all know how his career went after that.

Yeah, that "Lone Ranger" is among the worst movies I've ever paid money to see. It was just *bloody* awful.

I actually didn't hate The Lone Ranger - it had it's moments. It's from the same director as the first three POTC films so it's no shock that is suffers from the same problem of being much too long for the subject matter. In my estimation though I like it as much as I like the third POTC movie - if it were tightened up (drop the framing sequence and a lot of Depp's over-long silent bits) it could have been great.

I liked it. But yeah, it was a bit too long.

Of course, I have to be honest, the only Depp movie I don't watch is Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I find him to be a very talented actor.

Yeah, I feel like it gets a bum rap. I mean, other than the length/pacing its a lot of fun. Toward the end when they finally play the overture is all perfect!
