JohnKerry.com Part 2 - Let the Flames Begin

Fantasyland?

I really don't give 2 hoots if Heniz Corp gets sacked for having manufacturing plants all over the world. It won't affect Kerry and if they DID somehow fall under what would be categorized by "outsourcing" I don't think he would give them special favors.

I am just trying to explain to you the difference between manufacturing food products around the world (they may have to meet certain aggricultural standards in thoes areas) and having your tech job shipped to India.

So. you never answered my question, is a McDonald's in France outsourcing? They are a food product.

wow, some people just scare me.

ok lets keep it simple here for you.

McDonalds is a franchise, hate to tell yea this, but every one of those over seas has paid a fee to be able to open the restaurant.
the neat part is,(now keep up) they also PAY money every month or year to the main company in order to keep that licenese.
the best part, they even have to pay extra to sell those little toys in the happy meals.
so see theres the big difference, they PAY money back to the U.S.
where as Heinz doesnt pay a franchise fee,the factories are owned by the company, and produce the product there to keep labor costs down.
(before this gets embaressing, you may want to google about frachising)
dont pretend to be all about labor and manufacturing in the U.S.,if your going to send the labor overseas to be cheap and save money.

now just to help you out, almost all of the Heinz products are not time sensitive,(this means they have a long shelf life) so they could be produced in the U.S. and shipped overseas.
its all about cost..............
Dont pretend to care about the jobs here if you cant back it up by keeping the jobs here.

heres the funny part, if your going to agree that its ok for Heinz to seek out cheaper labor costs overseas, dont fault other companies for doing the same thing.

as you libs like to say so much................ pot...kettle............black!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

now we can keep up this discussion, but you really have nothing to back your side up,
i mean really,McDonalds, thats too easy, you should have tried a tech company, but then again if your going to complain about the job loss there, make sure the ketchup queen and her hubby arnt looking for low wages too.

ok lets keep it simple here for you.

Let's make it even simpler. You're wrong.

Now, for the details...

From Snopes....

http://www.snopes.com/politics/kerry/heinz.asp

Regarding control over the Heinz corporation:
".....she has no involvement whatsoever with the management or operations of the H.J. Heinz Company, nor does she own anything close to a controlling interest of the company's stock.

"Neither Mrs. Heinz Kerry nor Senator Kerry nor any of the Heinz trusts or endowments — either individually or collectively — holds a significant percentage of shares of the H.J. Heinz Company..... their current holdings are under 4 percent......

There is no connection between any philanthropic programs of the H.J. Heinz Company and its Foundation and the Heinz family interests.....
(A 4% stake in a company as large as Heinz still represents a considerable amount of money, but it isn't nearly large enough a share to give the holder any significant control or influence over the company's business decisions.) "

Regarding overseas production and outsourcing...

"Moreover, the Heinz Company's operations are not an example of the type of outsourcing that is currently a hot political issue (i.e., sending out work to offshore companies to provide services which a company might otherwise have employed its own staff to perform). Heinz is a U.S.-based global business which sells its products in dozens of other countries, and like other food companies it has to localize some of its production at factories located in its foreign market areas. (It makes little sense from either an economic or a freshness standpoint to be shipping fruits and vegetables and/or finished food products halfway around the world rather than producing them locally.) One wouldn't expect, for example, every can and bottle of Coca-Cola sold anywhere in the world — whether it be Australia, China, or Portugal — to be produced by U.S. bottlers.)

As the H.J. Heinz Company notes, well over half its sales come from foreign markets, and it therefore operates overseas facilities to serve those markets:

Currently, 60% of the sales of the H.J. Heinz Company are outside the United States and to accommodate those customers by providing facilities closer to those markets, the company maintains a number of overseas facilities that provide products for consumers in those markets. This allows Heinz to pack the freshest ingredients, tailor its recipes to local tastes and deliver the finished products in a timely and efficient manner. In the United States, Heinz makes its flagship ketchup in factories in Fremont, Ohio; Muscatine, Iowa; and Stockton, California.

Wow, some people scare me too.

Please show me where people in the US lost their jobs at Heinz because their job was sent overseas.

Are you this angry at Coke and Pepsi too?

I'm not.

I still can't believe you can't see the difference between manufacturing and tech job loss, etc. that is shipped overseas.

well 4% is something that large is a big deal, try and spin it all you want but deep down you all know better.
its funny a few of you were whinning about $87 when it came to a company with Bush.
(oh wait thats right, when its Kerry its ok)

pretend and spin all you want, but it still comes down to the fact they can bring those jobs back to the states if they want, its cheaper to produce overseas so they do!!!
dont complain because other companies do the same thing.

whinning about outsourcing and tax breaks doesnt look good if you cant practice what you preach.

btw, Answr is there any chance your ever going back to talking in the 3rd person, it was really funny to laugh at you then,at least then you stood out from the tinfoil hat crowd, now your just blending in with the others.

Blending in? Do you really think he blends in? Gosh, I think thnswer is in a class by himself!

If you understood how corporations work, you'd know it isn't.

Argue in the face of the facts until you're blue, but it won't change them.

You really don't understand simple concepts, do you?

No one complained about Bush making $87. The complaint was that Bush says that making that $87 qualified him as a small business owner.

It's all well and good that Kerry thinks he can solve this problem...but how? Where is the money going to come from? These companies are moving jobs overseas because it saves them money. That's a good thing. What incentive will they have to keep a costly job here? Tax breaks, you say? Well, I thought we were supposed to be against corporate welfare? Like I said, it's a zero sum game.

What the hell are you babbling about? I never talked in the 3rd person.

how soon someone forgets their own weak attempts at debates.lol
to bad we can't still quote from the DB,think back to the threads you started and talked in the 3rd person.
dont worry alot of us still remember them.
ironic how you have slammed Bush/Cheney for not remembering things but you do it yourself?

oh wait its just another case of its ok if "i" do it, but the rest of the people cant.

you folks really follow the party line dont yea?

If you understood how corporations work, you'd know it isn't.

wow glad you can attended economics 101.sleeping that day in class?

if you did understand anything you would know that 4% in such a large company really can make a difference

tell yea what do a little search about Kirk Kerkorian and his attempt to take over chrysler,he almost pulled it off when he owned 9.8% of the company.
just to make it easy for yea,

http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=11987735&BRD=1395&PAG=740&dept_id=226963&rfi=6

Kerkorian first made waves in Detroit as a precocious 73-year-old in December 1990, when he became Chrysler Corp.'s largest shareholder, buying 9.8 percent of the auto company then headed by Lee Iacocca.

Chrysler lurched quickly into panic mode then, fearing a possible hostile takeover bid by Kerkorian.

heres another fun 1 for yea, lets look at disney and see what percent of stock Eisner owns.

http://corporate.disney.go.com/investors/proxy/proxy_2003.pdf

wow, back in 03 he had 1.3%, gosh look at all he can do when he only owns less the 2% of the company stock. never mind the fact he ranks as the 26th largest shareholder.
btw, roy comes in at 18,but then again he has less the 4% guess he didnt do anything at the last disney stockholder meeting?

cry all you want that 4% doenst make a difference, but in the big game its alot.

guess it still comes down to the fact that for Kerry and family, they can have it 1 way,but any other company cant.

In all sincerity, you've got me confused with someone else. I don't speak in the 3rd person and if I've started 5 threads over the last 2 years, I'd be surprised.

Great, maybe you can get them to step up to the plate and verify what you're saying.
