He is going to tax my employee health benefits for the FIRST TIME in history and give MY tax dollars to other people to buy health insurance! I guess he thinks he can make better choices with my money than I can.

What a hypocrite!

ETA: Here's is the point I'm trying to make.

Socialism - 1. a system of society or group living in which there is no private property 2. a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state

Neither candidate is a socialist by definition. I'm saying that Obama redistributing taxes is no different that McCain redistributing taxes.

Would you prefer he leave the health care system as is?

UUUH -- He's also giving you a $5,000 tax credit, which when you run the numbers, will give you much more net $$ in your pocket than today. The tax credit can only be used if you actually go out and buy insurance. So you actually have to do something to get the credit. Unlike Obama's plan, which only requires that you do NOTHING to get something.

I am no fan of McCain but you are way off base on this. The tax break is designed to give you the flexibility to choose a health care provider and plan that may not currently be available to you through your current employer. If anyone is a "Socialist" it is Obama who btw I am voting for. I personally don't have anything against the idea of Socialism and it would be rather interesting to see how it would work in a strong Capitalist Society such as Ours where it failed in France and England. McCain is for smaller Governement thereby discrediting your claim of him being a socialist which is only possibly through larger Governement.

I would also like to point out that if Obama is elected, you will likely get all the taxing and spending that he has promised and MORE because they would control all of government. If McCain is elected, we would likely only get some of what he wants because Dems will control Congress.

Remember, Congress raises or lowers taxes, not presidents.

So, that's a reason to vote for McCain? Because he won't be able to stick it too us completely?

He's still taking my money and redistributing it, is he not? I'm being punished for having good insurance.

Also, to get an earned income credit, you have to actually earn income. That is doing something.

Wow, I'm impressed. I can actually respect a person who supports Obama with their eyes wide open.

No more laughable that Obama being one.

What if I like my insurance? Can he send the $5000 to my Health Savings Account?

And if people DON'T like their insurance, what is stopping them from declining their employer coverage and purchasing it on their own?

I hate this health/tax plan.

My guess is that those of us whose company's paid $5,000 in the first place (we pay the other $5K), will stop supplementing, and we will be right back where we were paying the $5K on top of the $5K that our company no longer supplements.

I dont' want socialized medicine either though.

Something needs to be done about health care plans overall. Limiting frivolous lawsuits is a good start, as is preventative medicine, and paying a large enough co-pay that the moms who take their child to the ER for every sniffle will stop and let others who have real health needs get taken care of.

Whew....I didn't realize I had such an opinion on this.

I love and am voting for Obama but he is a "Socialist" and to deny that would be not knowing the facts. Take the time to do some research before expounding your views, it will make them a heck of a lot more credible. As previously stated Obama is for larger Government and wealth redistribution two of the key components to Socialism whereas McCain is for smaller Governement which by default discredits any claims of him being a "Socialist", moderate Conservative with some Leberal tendencies absolutely look at the mans record but "Socialist"? Not even close.

Of course not. I'm just making the point that McCain is just as guilty of taking money from one person and giving it to someone else.

I appreciate your honest answer since this thread is designed to stir up trouble where there isn't any.

According to the dictionary on my desk:

Socialism - 1. a system of society or group living in which there is no private property 2. a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state

Neither candidate is a socialist by definition. I'm saying that Obama redistributing taxes is no different that McCain redistributing taxes.

Have you read Obama's writings? Have you listened to his previous speeches and interviews dating back all the way to 2001? I'm sorry like I said I love the man but he expounds "Marxist" views left and right. You can throw your Dictionary out the window because when the term "Socialism" is used one is referencing Karl Marx's view of the ideal Society and anyone who has taken Sociology 101 or Cultural Anthropology 101 or even done a little bit of research would see that.

Here's the old Marxist thing again. Okay, how much of Mark's writings have you read? Taking a 101 class doesn't count. I'm guessing not much. Which means, generally, you have no idea of what you are being told on talking points on Fake News has any real value at all.
