John and Jessica's Wedding - - June 2010 SBP

yay! thats awesome, do you have pictures? You guys look so cute! Better tell DF to work on smiling for all those pictures at the wedding! hehe My brother is the same way and his wife ordered him to smile properly at the wedding. He pulled it off nicely. 2 weeks!?! Mine took 6 months! Thats crazy..You are lucky. I have a huge bag full of honeymoon clothes! hahaha some of them I have had since the summer! I went a little crazy when things went on sale after summer as well. I do love deals. 5 Months! wow...that means I am there too! thats so crazy.

Woohoo less than 5 months to go! (OMG I can't believe that!) :cool1:

Yay for getting you dress in!! Mine came in early too so it's just been sitting in my closet until I get around to scheduling my alterations appointment, haha. If you end up needing alterations, are you taking it to David's Bridal? I'm still trying to figure out if I want to go there or not - I keep reading online reviews that they are kind of expensive! Your sis got hers done there right? What did she think?

You and your DF look so cute together!!!! That's so nice of his parents to throw an engagement party for you both. :cutie:

Yes my sister got her dress and alterations from Davids Bridal..she is rather short, 5'1 so she had to get her dress shortened quite a bit and she had no complaints about them. I plan on using them if I need alterations just because it is so convenient and easy. I'm really hoping that i don't need any and can just find a pair of shoes that makes the dress sit perfectly on the ground..we'll see. I know, I can't believe its already 5 months!!!! EEEEEEk:scared1: I'm home sick today and I'm actually getting a ton of stuff done..I just finished up my invites and will have DF bring them to post office tomorrow to get them posted. I'll post pictures tonight.

Hi Jessica! Everything looks great! Yay for getting your dress!

Sorry I haven't sent you that info yet:flower3:

Hope it's not too late for you! The Mickey Pomanders that we made were sooooo easy.
Lots of girls on here have done them differently but here is how we did them.

I went to Hobby Lobby (maybe Michaels) and craft store will do. I bought stirofoam balls in two sizes. One larger one for the head and two slightly smaller ones for the ears. The size you buy just depends on how you big you want your Mickey. I made two larger ones for my bridesmaids and one smaller one for the flower girl.
We used floral wire to fasten the ears to the head. Position the ear to the head and Poke the wire through the two balls at an angle. I just cut the wire and folded it over the ends. Do the same thing for the other ear, when you are done you will have an "X" going through the center of the stirofoam. I have seen people hot glue them together, but I never once felt like the Mickeys were going to break, so I like this way a little better. I thought the hot glue might not hold as well.
I think I may have explained that confusingly, just let me know. ;)

After this, use whatever flower you like. What I did was use three different color hydrangea and pluck all the petals off of them. Then, pinned each petal to the pomander until it was covered. I just used regular pins with sparkles on them and stuck each petal down. You can use any flower you want, I really like the ones with whole flowers, the reason I used hydrangea instead of a rose is because it made the Mickey's look a little less "bushy"

I went back and added a little green to them once I put all the petals in. But you can see the size difference.
Here is what they looked like finished. After the ceremony they put them on the cake table

Just let me know if I confused you!
Hope this helps you! Good luck!

So I have my floral appt with rosie today at 5:30...I'm deathly ill so I'm thinking I'm going to pass it over to DF and give him my list of questions. I haven't decided yet though, because this is a HUGE part of the wedding and I want floral to be right and DF has NO idea what to OK and what the vision is....i might just tough it out and do it myself..just as a reminder this is what I want..light pink gerbera daisies wrapped in brown ribbon.

I love those flowers! So pretty.

I would NEVER let my DFi handle the florist ever. He's helpful with boy things like installing/building/fixing but not with flowers, lol.

So my floral call with Rosie went great! She is really great to work with...she understands our budget and is helping me keep it under what we want. We discussed a LOT of things and I got a lot of questions answered. So I found out that I could have gerbera daisies substituted at no additional cost so I'm getting the exact bouquet that I wanted (pictured in above response). I also found out that to have petals down the aisle it costs $65...which was not something I wanted to splurge on. I did however really want a staged exit and at $3.50/toss petal bag, I went with that. I figure that I'm only going to have 10 toss bags, so its only an extra $35. The bridesmaids bouquets through disney were too expensive so I am still sticking with making silks for them. Also, as of right now I have Disney making the guy's bouts, but I may change my mind and make those also. Overall, we are going to have minimal floral because I personally (and this is my opinion only) do not see the point and spending a ton on floral for SBP when we are only going to be there for an hour..we are not having a reception where I could move floral to afterwards, so for us, it just didn't make sense....blahhhh ok, I'm done rambling, goodnight.:surfweb:

That's awesome that you can substitute Gerbers for your bouquet!! I want to do the same thing, so it's good to know it can be done at no extra cost (I was worried they'd try to charge us for going with a CHEAPER flower!). :thumbsup2 I totally agree with you about spending loads of $$$ on floral...not my thing either - I'd rather use that money during the honeymoon! $65 in petals for the isle?!?! That's crazy. Have you looked into freeze-dried petals? I'm pretty sure they are cheaper and they still look fresh. The staged exit flower petals price isn't bad, I think $35 is totally doable for some great exit pics...we are doing the same thing, just not sure where the petals are going to be purchased from. What's great about our type of reception is we don't have to spend more money on floral to decorate the locations! woot :yay:

I don't know if this is allowed at SBP but for our staged exit we bought roses from Costco and plucked them ourselves when we got to Disney. We just put them in a basket and let the guests take a handful.

If you have a rental car 2 dozen roses were only $14.99 at Costco and I think they always have really nice flowers. Esp. pink roses. We bought four dozen and had more then enough petals for everything we wanted.
If you really want to aisle petals it may be worth looking into. We were local so it was just a stop on the drive down.

I'm always a go with your first choice person but that other dress is GORGEOUS! I love the simplicity and flowy fabric. It's such a summery wedding dress. Does it have a long train?

I can totally see why you are having such feelings of indecisions! I just looked back over your PJ and it seems like you liked this second one because it reminded you of an AA dress you really liked.

What about going to try them both on again? Maybe that'll help you decide.

I like them both on you, but I think the gerber daisies will look better with the second dress, IMHO.

Can't wait to hear the final choice!

They are both beautiful and both look amazing on you. I am partial to the first because the top looks a little like mine with all the sparkles. B&W photo but you can see the sparkles.

I think the other dress you tried on looks like Sam's (tiggersam). I just love the flowing feel to it.

The first probably shows off your waist a little bit more. Such a hard decission.

aww Jessica, I totally understand. I'm SO indecisive too!!! I thought DB's doesn't exchange, did you explain your situation?

I like both dresses. But they are both completely different. Like opposite sides of the wedding dress spectrum! The first is ornate and poofy, the second is simpler and straight. I think the first one shows off your shape more than the second does, but that might be just because of the corseted top and the second one is a straighter cut. Did you want a pick-up skirt? What draws you to the second one that the first one doesn't have (or vice versa)? I think the second one reminds me of a beach wedding type dress because it's so light and airy...but that might fit since you're getting married at SCP! I say the safe thing would to be try them both on again as well. Maybe that will solidify whichever you like more. Or maybe you could find another dress that has the characteristics you like in both! ehh, sorry this might be making your decision more difficult...

But I think they both look great on you. Ugh see how indecisive I am!?!? :rolleyes1

EDIT: Okay I took time to compare and looked not at just the dress but YOU in the dress, thought about it at an outdoor wedding with your Gerber bouquet and a flower in your hair. I think the second one will match that vision more than the first. It's more laid back, less princessy pouf. I see the first one with a veil, the second with a flower, ya know? Honest opinion there!

Wendy- I explained to DB that I was going back and forth the day I purchased the dress and that I wanted to switch to the other..she said no problem, but I was going to have a $200 store credit. Usually I wouldn't like a store credit, but I have to buy a bridemaid dress for my friends wedding and I figure with the other $100 I'll buy DF's sisters dress for our wedding and she'll give me the cash. So that's not a big deal.

Thanks to everyone who gave their honest opinions. I'm in love with both, so this makes it so hard. The only thing that is pulling me towards exchanging for the 2nd one is that when I envisioned my day, I envisioned myself in a more flowy simple dress...but then was thrown for a loop when I fell in love with the one I bought. I agree with those that think with the hair do that I picked out will most definitely go better with the second one...I think the first one is gorgeous..but the more I look at it the more I feel that its just not me.

I've always wanted to be a more decisive person.....glad to see even now that I've grown up and I'm getting married, I'm still the same old "can't make up my mind me".:lmao:

I'll let you all know when the final decision is made..even though I'm pretty sure I'm going to switch the dresses.

HI there! Congrats on your disney wedding!! Just read thru all the pages, and let me just say everything you have done is AMAZING!!! I love your invites, oh and your tank, and the window cling is awesome.... Can I put you to work for my VR next year?? LOL!!! :rotfl2:

You're dress decisions are hard for sure, would you regret getting rid of dress #1? Thats how I think about things, I'm also VERY indecisive...So I think okay if I get rid of this, will I regret it, and if I will, I don't. Usually that serves me pretty decent... Good luck with your decision. I love dress #1, but thats the inner princess part of me speaking!~ Dress 2 is also gorgeous!!

Can't wait to hear all the rest of the details!!!

I'm not a good person to ask...lol, I exchanged my original DB dress for one from the 2010 line. Personally I love number 2. Number 1 is pretty but it's very common (which isn't bad...it's popular for a reason) but the second dress is very fitting...it's VERY flattering on your body. Both dresses are goregous so you can't go wrong!
