I had planned on staying at the Poly the first week of October. I usually work out in the early afternoon during our mid day break but see that the gym is at the Grand Floridian. Because my husband also takes his "alone time" when my boys are napping, I really cannot spare the 5 or 10 minutes it takes me to get to the GF.

So my question is this: Will it be too hot to run then? If so, I need to change resorts. As for personal tolerances, I am from the south and I can tolerate direct sun without breezes up to about 80 degrees and I can run in a shaded area or with a light breeze into the upper 80s. Not having seen the jogging trail, I was hopeful someone can tell me whether I will be able to run or whether I just need to move.

Thanks in advance,

I admit to being a little confused. Do you think the weather will be different in another resort? :rotfl2: Sorry, couldn't help it. But seriously, do you mean you would go to a health club rather than jog? If so, I think the Polynesian could work well for you. I can walk from the GCH to the health club in 5-7 minutes. You could easily jog there in a couple of minutes and then work out.

But if are just planning to run, I see lots of runners on the trails around the Polynesian and to the GF in the early am. Would that work?

We've been in October a number of times and have found it very comfortable midday. Probably low to mid 80s and sometimes even upper 70s. Less humidity than summer as well. Hope that helps a little.

Oh, and welcome to the DIS! :flower:

Ha, ha. (I'm not smart enough to use the laughing icon). Yes, the alternative would have been to switch resorts to a place that had a gym so I could work out inside. You answered my question, though, and it appears I will be able to tolerate the midafternoon weather outside, assuming no record breakers. Thanks.

If you do change don't change to the GF cause the Health Club is located pretty far from some of the rooms there - its really an easy walk/jog from the Poly to the GF health club.

We have been in early October, I would say that the weather will be Ok for running outside. I would suggest that you run to the health club at the GF, workout (do you run on a treadmill?) and then run back, making those 5 minutes part of your running/workout time. It's really very close, so even if it is hot out, you would only be in the heat for 2-3 minutes each way (running).
