Wow, where does the time go? I could blame my absence from here on so many things, but the bottom line is, I dropped the ball...I've put on weight I lost last summer/fall...and bottom line...IT'S A REAL BUMMER! :(

Lot's has happened with me since I was last here...let me detail my journey over the past year...

When I stopped posting regularly last fall I had just moved back to my home town and took a teaching job with a 1.5 hr drive to work :( I was working 2 teaching jobs actually....one in Louisville KY and one in Bloomington IN...both are 1.5 hour drives from my home....well since then I've finished the Bloomington job, and now I'm only working 2 days a week in Louisville...and I think I'm going to keep it at that and have started freelancing out of my home...I like working in my pajamas much better than suits! ;) Lots of free time right? WRONG...since May things have been moving a million miles a minute, and quite frankly I could use a break!

Well on May 10th my grandfather had a simple outpatient surgery that has turned into a nightmare for the whole family….he nearly died, was in a coma for 3 wks and now is in a semi-normal state where he talks to us, but most times it’s only 75% coherent…it’s so sad…he’ll likely never make a full recovery.

Then on June 10th my mother-in-law found out she has uterine cancer…stage 3. She had a total hysterectomy done the Friday before the 4th of July and they found that it had spread to her lymphatic system and she was pretty much filled with these tumors that are a type of cancer called “clear cell”…which apparently is a nasty cancer to have…one of the most aggressive cancers there is, and they couldn’t get it all out because it was too near arteries that run to her kidneys and heart…so she will undergo radiation therapy when she heals from the surgery (4-6 wks) then Chemo….they have given her a 25% chance of living up to 5 yrs.

In the middle of all this we had closed on a new home on April 13th, and got possession on May 14th so we had to move into it before June 1 when our lease was up on our rented place…and we are finishing the basement so we’re in the middle of that right now too…things are NUTS to say the least….so I know why I’ve been “bad” where eating is concerned, but It’s no excuse…I’ve put this weight back on slowly since February and then faster once May hit….I’ve probably gained 20lbs since May 10th :(

With all these health problems around me it just makes me realize I want to be around to see my grandkids, and maybe even great-grandkids….and I won’t be if I keep eating myself to death…so I’ve got to stop this terrible habit of overeating! (and eating the wrong things)

I’m signed up for a mini-marathon in May next year with my mother and my son….last summer/fall I was walking 4 miles a day, but I quit and now I’m going to have to start all over….I’m going to go walking around the track tonight when I get home…I hope I can make a mile…that would tickle me to death! :)
Well enough blabbing! I’m going to pick up a battery for my scale on the way home from work too so I can get an accurate weight to put down here as my RESTART weight…I’m also not going to do this on my own this time (well I know Jeff will come along for the ride) but seriously…I’m joining weight watchers and I’m doing it tomorrow night! (that’s when the local meeting is)…ok, big plans, BIGGER GOALS, W.I.S.H. me luck! ;)

Thanks for listening, and I promise to be posting lots starting today!
Huggies,
Jen :fish: ;)

Jen -- I am so glad to see you back here and swimming! :fish:
I have really missed you and I know your life has been crazy busy. I am sorry to hear about your DGF and DMIL. Such sad news. Enjoy the time you have with them.

Let's keep in touch and motivate each other, okay? That's what WISH buddies are for.
I can't wait to hear how you like your WW meeting. I haven't been to WI in 2 weeks because of the 4th of July and busyness at work and before that, weighed in but missed the meeting because I was planning DD's graduation party. So, I am looking forward to going back tomorrow night. Hey, if your meetings are Tuesday nights, too, we can "powwow" after the meetings and compare notes and celebrate forward progress and/or provide lots of encouragement.

I have REALLY missed you too Cam! :) thank you for all your encouragement! I am going to need a "partner" in this...Jeff won't come post a lot here I know so I'm counting on you to lift my spirts...and I'll do the same for you! :) HUGGGGZZZZZ!!!! :goodvibes

:) Jen :fish:

 Right back atcha, sweetie! I have missed having someone tell me to just keep swimming, just keep swimming. :fish: :fish:

Jen, its great to see you back and posting again. I'm sorry you've had such a tough year. Just do what you can - you've got a lot on your plate right now. We missed you! :sunny:

Hi, Jen! I am glad you are back too! It's funny that we both rejoined at the same time! I am so sorry about all you are going through! I am praying for your grandparents and everything else that you are juggling!

Hi again! Here's my daily update....day two I believe for me...I didn't get off to the start I got off to last year I'm afraid...I didn't get the battery for my scales, so I don't know my weight yet, and I'm going to have to get the sweets out of my house...they are tempting....the twinkies called my name last night....when I'm under stress, I EAT A LOT!!! and I can't do that...so I'm going to do a clean sweep of my fridge and cabinets tomorrow...also I didn't make it to weight watchers...I lost track of time and then it was too late to get there before it ended...so I will join next tuesday and just watch things this week....

food today:

1 bowl spaghetti, 3 meatballs, 1 pc garlic bread
2 bread sticks
2 cookies

ok, not my best, but it's a start....compared to what I've been eating the last 3 months, it's great...and I'll just keep swimming :fish: ;)

I am going to have to get to drinking my water again....GOAL SET....now to just do it! ;) I'll go buy a new water jug tomorrow as I'm not sure my other one made the move...

huggies all and thanks for the words of welcome and encouragement!

Jen :) :fish:

Great start, Jenn, if it is an improvement over yesterday, right?
Sorry you didn't make it to WW tonight. The topic was creating a lean, mean kitchen. We discussed food and tools to equip our kitchen to help us on the journey. My biggest "tools" are the foods I keep prepared in the fridge or portioned in the cupboard and the frozen meals in my freezer and my food scale. Those are all things that make my journey easier each day.
What are you going to do to make your kitchen a great place to continue your journey?
Have a great Wednesday, kiddo! And just keep swimming! :fish: and Smiling! :teeth:

Welcome Back Jen! :Pinkbounc

I'm sorry to hear that you had a tough year. :( I hope that 2006 is a wonderful year for you and your family! :grouphug:

You sound like you are back on track! That's great! Just remember that baby steps will get you to your goals. :goodvibes

Have a great week, Jen! It's great to have you back! :goodvibes

Good morning, Jen! Hope all is going well for you. Are you still swimming? :fish:
Shopping? Cooking healthy goodies? Thinking of you and WISHing you a successful day!

Welcome back, Jen!! I'm in FL now, but will be back on regularly soon.

I've really missed your 'swimming' lessons!

When my DSis was going thru surgery, radiation/chemo last year, I bought her a talking Dori - 'Just keep swimming', right?

Hang in there! I've been absent from WW for almost 3 weeks and miss it! I think you'll like it a lot.

Have a great rest of the week!

HUGS!!! & Prayers!!

Okay, Jen, where are you, chickie? Did you go to WW last night? I am thinking about you and sending positive vibes. This is your summer, girl! I know you can do this. I hope you post soon and let us know how you are doing.

Welcome back! It sounds like you've really had a stressful couple of months. Try to do some healthy things for yourself while you also help with your family and their health concerns. I'm fairly new to this forum, but I find it very motivating, and it sounds like you've had success with it in the past.

Just keep posting! We'd like to hear how you are doing. Denise

Hi Jen,

How's it going, Jen! I'm so glad you're back & still swimming!
