No entertainer will please everyone, I personally don't like much country music.

That is his professional name. Per Wikipedia it is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye. I don’t know much about him, but heard he put several millions of his own money into the show.

I know I’m old because I had never heard of The Weeknd. . The “head gear” was very odd to me.

To be honest, I am not familiar with any of tonight’s performers. I think it’s the first time that has happened. Oh well, what can you do?

Being Canadian, I am surprised if no one has heard “can’t feel my face” since is played so much here. For the longest time I didn’t know he was Canadian.

DS22 and his friends have been huge fans of The Weeknd since high school, so I knew all the songs. I thought he did a great job, and DH and I really enjoyed the show.

Oh it hurts people didn’t know who he was lol. His song Blinding Lights has a very catchy retro feel to it, I feel like a lot of his songs have a kind of retro vibe. And his voice is quite good, he actually sings vs talks. Helps he’s localish up here too, Toronto area. All that said I didn’t love the show. A bit odd but not the worst one in halftime history.

I enjoyed the halftime show. I never heard of the singer before. I just thought what an honor to perform at the superbowl. I did think the masks were weird but liked everyone in the field. No drama - just a good show.

I really enjoyed the national anthem. It was a different take yet respectful, I thought. And the timing of the B2 (flown by a woman) and the other two planes. I got a little emotional at that performance. (Company I work for makes/made those B2’s).

My husband had no clue who The Weeknd was, but I knew him because of “50 Shades of Gray.” LOL! I have a couple of his songs on a couple of different playlists.

All that said, even though I like him okay, I was surprised he was the Super Bowl halftime show performer. His songs just aren’t the typical fun, high energy type songs for a performance like the Super Bowl halftime show.

It is not about being Canadian, he is an internationally well-known artist.

And then there's the Selena/Bella/Justin/The Weeknd square to add to that.

Oh man, the sound was HORRID right out of the gate. Kind of killed Starboy. What a song to kill, an absolute shame to have technical issues right away. But happy that improved.

And then the funhouse kind of took away from Can't Feel My Face, in my opinion.

To me, he is one of those writers/singers where his songs will sound current when they are decades old. I think he is that talented. Especially with songwriting.

Too bad the entire set didn't play like Blinding Lights. But very happy it ended that way.

LOL, I’m old. Never heard of him, but when I heard the name, assumed he was a rapper. (I should know not to assume.) He has a decent voice, I recognized the last song, but the show was just okay, IMO. I didn’t like the masks on background singers/dancers. First the robot/alien look and then the head bandages...kind of creepy.
