Hi

After my fourth trip to Disney World last month for my honeymoon :lovestruc , I have decided that I would like to know more about how to get a job at WDW, and what us English people need to do to be allowed to work and live in America.

Does anyone have any information on this?
Has anyone ever looked into doing this?
Or has anyone actually done it?

We are thinking it might be fun for a year, before we settle down and have kids, to just go out there for a year and work somewhere within WDW.

:sunny:

How do you find out what jobs are available?
Is there a Disney Cast Members website?

Thanks

Back when i was 16 and then again at 18 i nearly did this for a year before going off and doing my computer science courses.

When i was in epcot at the brittish area of the park i got speaking to a nice young brittish girl from out my neck of the woods who was out there for a year.

Basically it works like this.....

You apply via a disney office of some kind in london. if they like what they see they invite you down for a series of interviews. if they then like that they ask you to come work for them. They arrange a work visa for you which lasts for 1 year and i believe you are expected to provide your own flights.

As i remember it they provide you with accomodation and you pay for your own food etc and they pay you a full working wage. HOWEVER for that first year you have to work in epcot, typically at the brittish section.

after the first year you can choose to re-apply, if they liked you then you will be reassigned to another park if you wish to be.

they take a limited number every year but from what i heard that numbers fairly large, and there isnt a great deal of compititon as not many know about it.

i almost did it but by the time i was legally eligable to do it(18) i had signed up for my degree and universal had switched to my favourite park. Plus i didnt fancy working in epcot for a year so i could eventually work in my favourite disney one(MGM).

give it a try though. i bet it'd be fun. Sorry i dont still have the address to hand but i bet you could find the HR department for disney out there and they'd send you the address to write to.

oh and dont take this as gospel as thye may have changed how it works since i spoke to that lady.

Thanks for the info.
Not sure if I fancy Epcot for a year either, but I will look into it if we think it's for us.

Thanks again.

Most welcome

By the sound of things you prefer disney over universal(where as i prefer universal) so dont let a year in epcot put you off. and who knows they may have changed the procedure now so you can go straight to another park.

Write to some places and get the info first before getting disheartened :)

No advice but I just wanted to say, how fantastic :)

There are no cast memebers sites so to speak, as you have to be a cast member to gain access to them.

Good luck with the hunt, im toing with applying myself as an interpreteur!!!

You need to look at the website www.wdwip.thefairground.com for more information. This tells you all about becoming a Cultural Representative on the International Programme. Once having read and completed an application form you are contacted by Yummy Jobs, who are a firm based in the UK which acts on behalf of Disney to screen future cast members. The jobs are In World Showcase at Epcot either in Merchandise or Food and Beverages. You will be given a telephone interview, and if successful you will be invited to London for a small group interview, which is attended by representatives from Disney in Florida. The competition is huge! Trust me many people do know about this programme. Once accepted you do pay your own fare to the USA, but Disney reimburse this upon completion of your contract, which is usually for one year. You stay in appartments provided by Disney, and the rent is deducted from your salary. I hope that this is useful.
