I was laid off from my FT job in July of 2009 and I've been searching for a job ever since. I've had the most sucess with finding jobs to apply for when I visited indeed.com and simplyhired.com. Does anybody know of any other job search web sites that I should look at? I also check craigslist as well as careerbuilder. Any suggestions would be great!

:)

I think you're doing pretty well. The only other suggestion I have is to check the local newspaper - but not the large city paper. Try the papers for the suburbs. I find those job classifieds are a lot less cluttered (no work from home and earn $1000/day ads). Plus, smaller papers charge a lot less for ads so a lot of local companies find that to be a better option. If you want to check the larger papers, check their online website. It's usually cheaper to place an online ad versus the paper ad so again, more options. Good luck searching.

Thank you both for the suggestions. I have my resume posted on Monster and I do also check Yahoo every once in a while. I will look into the smaller newspaper's classified ads, I didn't even think about that.

Thanks again!

In my opinion the job sites have become worthless as the amount of applicants to job postings would make your head spin. The best advice I can give you is this:

1) Go to www.linkedin.com, make friends, and network with people (alums of your college would be a good start). This has been an invaluable source for me in the past and I've created my own jobs off it by convincing companies I could help them.
2) Work with a headhunter/recruiter. Don't rush them or pressure them but just talk with them and keep in touch with them frequently.
