Job placement agencies anyone

Anybody ever use a job placement agency?

Right now i work at Target and I'm pretty much burnt out. I've applied for a couple of jobs that didn't work out, and now I'm having trouble deciding where to look next I'm more than half serious when i talk about applying for a house cleaning job.

Anyway, who here has used an agency? I'm looking through the phone book and browsing sites. It seems that "Temp" is not all they do anymore

A lot of companies use temp workers as a trial run. If they like you and need you they will hire you permanently. There are plus sides to being a temp though-working when you want so you don't have to worry about vacation time, etc. Downside is no paid vacation time although many temp agencies do offer benefits and if you work for them for however much time they do offer paid vacation, benefits, etc.

Yeah, I'm basically spitting in the wind here, no matter what i do. I'm torturing myself with my current job, but can't afford to quit until i find a new job. And I am too good at this 1 that I am in no danger of losing it.

I used a temp agency years ago. They found me a job that I worked at as a temp for 90 days, the rate of pay was slightly reduced to make up the temp agencies fee. After the 90 days the employer had the option of hiring me, which they did, and I immediately got a raise. I stayed with that company for three years before moving.

I use employment agencies for hiring more than I do direct hires. They do the screening and testing and I've got 90 days before I have to make a decision. This set up has worked well for me for several years now.
