Both my DH and I are looking for new jobs right now. I think I can do ok in interviews, I know DH is doing good in interviews. We are expecting either some rejections or some offers soon which leads to my big question.

My question is how to handle a job offer. We have both been lucky to this point in that our jobs have fallen into our laps or we have been in the right place at the right time and we have never really had a job offer per se. What should we look at and what questions should be asked? What should we expect?

dh just changed jobs (in his forties!) the hardest question is that "salary" - dh is camping so I cant confirm HOW he answered, I just know he prepared himself for the inevitable - he wanted this job, but didnt want to price himself out of it - he mentioned he went on salary.com and found comparable, comparable salaries for the position/job description - they were very impressed with dh!!

GOOD LUCK :cheer2:

Thank you-we will definitely check that out!

My approach after getting job offers is to always realize it's a negotiation up until the point I accept the job. Don't get so attached to the offer that you can't walk away from the offer to find a better one. Use the offer phase to get what you want out of your potential employer--make a list of what you're looking for: vacation time, salary, incentive pay, etc. and be prepared to negotiate with your potential employer.

The bottom line is you want to make this the best possible arrangement for both your employer and you. Everything is negotiable and this phase of the process to negotiate for those things you need or want to be happy in your employment.

Good Luck,

I know that's going to be one of the hardest parts.
