Good luck Claire, I have an interview on Friday too!!

My best advice: be yourself, listen carefully, don't boast and keep smiling!!

Be confident but if you dont know something be honest and say that you are always interested in tackling new challenges.

Good luck!! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

What type of ward will you be working on? Will this be your first job as an auxillary?

This will not be my first time trying for the position as auxillary nurse as i have had interviews before but they were short term contratcts but at the present time i am a home carer. I think the roles will be similar in some degrees. I just hope i get the job. But i not sure what ward i will be on.

I'm not really sure what type of questions are asked re: auxillary nursing positions, but you could read over the NMC code of professional conduct. It's not too long and it might help in case you're asked any questions about accountability or patient autonomy. What type of questions have you been asked at your previous interviews?

Hi Catherine
I was asked what i thought the job entailed and what qualties i had which would make me a good aux I think the question about what the job entails will let me down as at the previous interviews when i found out the contract was just for 3 months i told the interviewers i didn't want to waste their time.
Claire :)

Claire I don't know what you do as a home carer, but I would imagine that an AN position is pretty much the same. Basically you get patients up and give out breakfasts. Then depending on the type of ward. You assist them with their hygiene needs, bed bath, shower etc. You would make the beds. You would probably assist the nurses with things like routine observations, BP, pulse, temp, respirations etc. You might complete fluid balance charts or food diarys. Help give out lunches, and help any patients that require assistance with eating etc. You's probably help with moving and handling of patients and checking for pressure ulcers. I'm sure that there's a lot more that the ANs do, but of the top of my head, I can't think right now!

There's a lot of emphasis on legal stuff now, that is why I suggested that you might want to skim the Code of Professional Conduct. They also might ask questins about infection control, so you might want to familiarise yourself with that. Hope this helps. If you have any specific questions, I'll try and answer them

Your welcome! :goodvibes
