Question about timing at the Jingle Bell Jingle Bam Holiday Dessert Party.

When I made the reservation I was told:
Check in at 4:45 pm
Party starts at 5:00 pm

The Disney World website says Jingle Bell Jingle Bam starts at 6:30 pm that night.

If someone has attended the party, can you tell me:

a) Does "check in" time mean that you are allowed into the party area at that time?
Or is the party area closed until 5:00 pm?

b) Will people be allowed to check in before 4:45 pm?

c) What time will people be walked out of the party to the viewing area?

d) Is the timing the same if it's cold or rainy and they move the party portion indoors?

I know people have posted about their experiences, but it's confusing because the show starts at different times on different days.

Q- Check in at 4:45 pm
A- Check in will begin an hour or more before the advertised party start time.

Q- Party starts at 5:00 pm
A- Guests are allowed in by 4:45.

Q- Does "check in" time mean that you are allowed into the party area at that time?
A- You can check in at 4:45 and enter at 4:45 if you wish.

Q- Or is the party area closed until 5:00 pm?
A- Closed until about 4:45.

Q- What time will people be walked out of the party to the viewing area?
A- Guests are not walked over, they are directed to the area. All guests must be clear of the party area by 6:05

Q- Is the timing the same if it's cold or rainy and they move the party portion indoors?
A- Departure to the viewing area will begin earlier.

it's confusing because the show starts at different times on different days.
JBJB will be at 6:30 every night except NYE.

Because tables are preassigned and unless you want to be among the first to meet Santa Goofy, there is no advantage checking in much before 4:45. If you choose to, check in within an hour or so before the party starts, get your credentials and return at about 4:45

When are you attending?

Super helpful info! I'm not going, I purchased for family members as a gift.

Attended this Monday evening and thought it was really great! Tell your family members to keep an eye out as it gets closer to show time. At our party, people started lining up by a cast member who did sort of walk us over to the viewing area. The best place is to be at the back of that area along the railing. There is a little curb in front of the railing, and standing on this combined with the slight incline (if I'm remembering correctly) of the area will put them higher than the people in front of them. They will also be able to take in more of the scope of the show from this vantage point.

We arrived right around 4:45pm, checked in, and met Santa Goofy immediately. We were supposed to wait for a ticket that cast members bring around to the table with the time for meeting him (every table has its own meeting time), but we didn't know this and went over before getting the ticket. The handlers asked if we had our ticket, but when we didn't, they let us go ahead and meet him/get pics with him anyway. It was great! He took a good amount of time and we got a lot of pictures. This may not always be the case though, so be aware that cast members do assign times to go meet with him and have pictures.

Hope your family enjoys it as much as we did!

We went Monday too. Had no idea we were suppose to wait for a time to meet Goofy. There was no line so we went over shortly after 5. Now that you mention it I did notice a CM walking around holding times and she said something to the table next to us but only asked us if we had our pictures taken.

The process is: check in, receive your lanyard with credentials from the check-in host. The 2nd check-in CM gives you a card and explains what's on the card which is the table number and a Santa Goofy meet and greet time.

Unless they did something totally different on Monday, as I was their on multiple days before Monday and after Monday, a CM will not come around handing out cards or tickets with a M&G time. If you miss the time on the card, didn't get a card, or aren't aware that there is a time on the card, a CM will probably come around double checking that no one misses out on the M&G and that you can just go up. Have a "Totally Tinsel Time". What the heck does that mean anyway?

The way it worked for us was that we got in line at the entrance to the party area and checked in. We were given our lanyards and told that we would receive our other "paperwork" (I think that's the term they used?) at our table. We went to our table, but spotted Santa Goofy, and so we headed over and got to meet him pretty much immediately. Goofy's handlers asked us if we had our "card" and indicated we should have gotten something at our table. We didn't have that, but they let us meet him anyway.

A CM came by our table shortly after we'd met Goofy and gave us a card with a time written on it that was our appointment for meeting him. It seems like the time was early (pre-5pm) and we informed her that we'd already met him, so she took the card back. Later, a CM came around to take the bottom portion of our JBJB card on our lanyards and gave us our ornaments.

There were definitely CMs checking to make sure everyone had a chance to meet Goofy. We got asked twice.

It was sooooo Totally Tinsel. (LOL)

we would receive our other "paperwork"
That other paperwork was the card. Either the 2nd check-in CM that hands out the table cards was missing or was busy with someone else. What happens sometimes is that guests walk away after receiving the lanyard thinking they're all done and then we catch up with them at their table and hand them the card. Also, maybe they were experimenting that night, but on the previous Friday and following Tues & Wed, it was as I explained.
We didn't have that, but they let us meet him anyway.
That's normal.

Hand written cards are for guests who may have fallen though the cracks.

That's the toughest assignment. It's like herding cats. The objective is to give everyone the ornament before living for the viewing area, but there are guests at the food tables, restrooms, etc. Only the best of CMs catch everyone, just sayin.
It was sooooo Totally Tinsel. (LOL)
And exactly what does that mean?

CMs are encouraged to say it to guests, but before the party, they look at each other with a puzzled look and ask what does it mean? Is it another way to say Merry Christmas?
It goes along with the Prep & Landing part of the JBJB show. One of them says, "Totally Tinsel" in the show. In that context, it just means "Totally Awesome" as far as I can tell. So "Have a Totally Tinsel time" would be "Have a Totally Awesome time" I guess.

Oh, ok, didn't know that. I didn't even know who Prep & Landing, still don't, were until last year's show. Mystery solved. I'll spread the word because I'm not alone as to what it meant. You must have little ones.

No little ones, just a Disney geek. LOL.
