He took ABC off our Cablevision line up. :headache:
I know you too are pretty tight..so maybe you could call in a favor.
Tuesday night is LOST and I'm gonna be pretty ticked if I can't watch it.
I already called Cablevision and they told me Iger pulled the station. I told them I didn't give a rat's hiney ho, who did what...but I want ABC back on the tv by Tuesday. :snooty:
See what ya can do for me...thanks.

Sounds like it's time to give DirecTV a call. ;)

All right, Bobby. Me and the boys aren't fooling around dis time. Disney goes back on da box, see, or we're gonna turn Phyllis loose on your email wid a major smilie attack. Now that's an offer you can't refuse.

Ya know..I looked into Dish Network a few years back. We've got seven tv's in the house, and it seemed as if we'd have to get at least three of those discs on our house if we went with them. Wasn't so crazy about that..and it was pretty pricey at the time.
Not that I"m getting any bargain with Cablevision.:rolleyes1 Internet and cable runs near $160.00 a month..:headache:
We've been hounded by Verizon, they offer all three services. I've hestiated to go with them, as they have termination fee's should you decide you don't want them any longer. They also were in trouble here, for charging installation fee's when they said they weren't. They have lower rates..but sock it to you after the first year. You can't win.
Seems to me there's always someone looking to rip you off. :headache:

:rotfl2:

I might have to call in smileys from a remote location.
By the way..I found out there is a limit to the number of smiley's you can place in a post. How many of you can say you new that?...

I tell ya, you can't even get through on the phone to the cable company. People are steaming mad over not being able to watch the Oscar's tonight.:scared1: (no biggie for me)..but whatever floats your boat. Cablevision did this to us last month when we lost HGTV and Food Network. I never realized how much I watch those channels till they were gone. I think they thought it would go over the same with ABC..only it's not. People are ticked off BIG TIME...and looking for alternatives to this monopoly.

I would never have guessed it from your unsurpassed talent for using them. :lmao:

:scratchin Hmm...You know..they say everyone has a talent. :)

Unfortunately for you folks..I seemed to have discovered mine! :lmao:

Well.....whata ya know....8:57 and ABC is back on Cablevision. Oscars are on. :wizard:
I don't know if Jim had a word or two with Bobby :confused3...or if it was all the ticked off  cable customers but I'm sure glad I won't have to miss LOST on Tues. :thumbsup2

Do y'all have ATT uverse yet? They are offering all kinds of rebates and such to get you to switch. It is even cheaper after the first year than Direct TV was.

No ATT here yet.
Dish..Direct, and Verizon.
I've hesitated with changing because we loose our local Long Island channel, which gives you all the traffic and train scheduling plus the local school closing type information during the winter months. They haven't made the deal good enough to want to switch.
Verizon has had some good pitches..but I've heard they yank up the price after one year, and they charge those nasty termination fee's (175.00) if you opt to cancel.
However, after this nonsense, I'm going to look around again. We lost HGTV, and Food Network last month, due to the same crapola. I never realized how much I viewed either one of them until we didn't have them for a couple of weeks. :headache:

Bright House pulled the same thing recently with Fox. At the 9th hour they came to an agreement. When we dumped Bright House (years ago) and went with DirectTV, I missed the local news network - but I got over it very quickly. Our local TV stations do a great job of traffic & weather updates and that's good enough for me.

As far as keeping up with episodes of Lost - you can go to ABC.com 2 days after the broadcast & watch for free - unless they quit doing that. :confused3

It's interesting to hear that you guys don't get your local channels with DirecTV. We have always gotten our local stations. I wonder why we get them and you don't. :confused3

Hi!...fellow Long Islander Rv'er here :-). Cablevision really has us by the you know what, don't they? It did come back on for the Oscars, but I didn't notice till headed for bed...wonder what we'll lose next?? I'm like you, Lost had better be on Tuesday or there will be heck to pay!!

I have DirectTV & get local stations. I think what is being referred to is the local cable company's 24 hr/day news station. In our area, Bright House has a local news station on Channel 9, and they call it "Bay News 9". All local news, 24/7. It really gets boring after a while.

We have that...but additionally, they also have a channel that's strictly weather and traffic, including the trains. If you commute to NYC it comes in pretty handy. It's updated fairly often.
I don't know, all I know is I'm paying $164.00 a month for cable and internet service. Seven tv's..five boxes... Half the freakin' channels I don't watch. Yet..they're included in our package. If you want the ESPN.. or MSG, then you get some other crapola along with it. I remember when cable was some $40.00 a month. :rolleyes1
I'm old. :headache:

If it makes you feel any better, I'm older!

Are you certain that it's ABC's fault? In our area, Bright House & Fox were in contract renewal negotiations, and Bright House walked away from the negotiations. Fox & Bright House kissed and made up at the last hour. I don't know all the details, but it had something to do with Fox & broadcast fees they were wanting to pass along to B.H. Sounds more like your CaTV company is bucking something that they will ultimately pass off to the customers when they get a rate hike. We all get rear-ended, eventually.:scared1:

It's a similiar situation..I'm just sick of these negotiations over the fee's coming down to the wire. When I called Cable...they blamed it on Bob Iger. Saying ABC is a free station and he wants 40 million in fees from Cablevision. They claim there only obligation is to make sure the signal is clear.
They claim Cablevision has been collecting 20 million in fee's from it's customers all along..and now they want a piece of that pie.
Who do ya believe...who cares. :confused3 It was a stand off as to who was gonna flinch first. Either way, as you say...ultimately it's passed along to the consumer.:headache:
I'm just sick of loosing the channels. First HGTV, Food Network, and then ABC. They need to get their acts together.
