We will be there week after next. Our family down there won't touch DCA with a ten-foot pole do to it's lack of things to do for their kid.
When I began reading reviews and reports when DCA opened, I thought about our experience at MGM last year. MGM was a shock to me, because my Disney theme park experience had been based soley on a lifetime of visits to
Disneyland. I think that same sort of shock must be involved in the comments from the locals. Magic Kindom was odd to me too. Overall, MGM was by far my favorite park at WDW (RnR and ToT are fantastic rides...The Great Movie ride was really neat too).
After about an hour there, I began to understand what it was all about. MGM is an entertainment themed park, that a certain mouse pays visits to, just as Animal Kingdom and Epcot are based on non-Disney themes. The main focus is providing the guest to get a more upclose experience in a unique "show." My impression is that people have gone to DCA expecting something else...perhaps another "fantasy" park.
Having not even been there yet, I can see there are flaws. It's going to take time for it to build it's own character. I'm ready for that. Seeing what MGM is now, I can imagine what a special place DCA will become.
