Jiko wine tasting - thoughts?

Anyone ever do the wine tastings held at Jiko on Wednesday afternoons? Any reviews?

My DH and I did it on our last trip to the world. We thought it was a good value for money. A table is set up for you in an empty restaurant which is nice. The wine was superb and the accompaniments (cheese, small fruit dessert) were yummy as well. We also were given a piece of paper to take notes and were able to take home a description of the wines. We had a great time!

I've never heard of this! How much does it cost, and are children welcome?

I was going to book - it is $62.50 for two including tax & tip. My only concern is there was no cancellation policy listed. I really went to do this but am afraid it may conflict with food & wine festival activities we will be interested in. Oh what a good problem to have.

My husband and I did this a couple years ago and it was fantastic, and definitely worth the price we paid. The restaurant is empty, except for staff and those doing this event. We were all seated at one long table and there were probably 16 of us, mostly couples or small groups of 2-3 but we all socialized with those around us regardless of group. Each wine was introduced along with the accompaniments, and we were given a description of the wine as well as a lot of information about South African wines in general, and the Jiko wine collection. I enjoyed all of the wines we tried, and felt like the person leading our tasting was very knowledgeable and approachable. I would absolutely do this again, we just always have a hard time fitting it into our schedule. I would not think that it would be appropriate for children.
