I have ADR's for Boma but I'm thinking of switching for Jiko. If you've eaten at Jiko, I'd appreciate your thoughts on what is really good and what is not so good.

IMHO, Jiko is the best WDW restaurant. We have never had anything we disliked but, we were not crazy about the app. taste of Africa. Everything else was AWSOME!!! Some of our favs were the flatbreads, Lamb Patis, and the Filet w/ mac & cheese. For dessert the flourless chocolate cake is really good.
Go for it, you will not be dissapointed!!!!

Any of the flatbreads as an appetizer. We, too, did the tour of Africa appetizer and didn't care for a few of the items (something wrapped in a small corn husk, as well as a mini lentil quiche). You can't go wrong with the flatbreads!

For the entrees, after several dozen visits to Jiko, DH, my mother and myself just can't bring ourselves to order anything but the filet and mac. We've even eaten it for dinner two nights in a row in the same trip. It's truly amazing.

Our favorite dessert is the pistachio creme brulee. Word of warning: It's huge. And I'm not known to share a dessert, but it's totally shareable between two or three adults, depending, of course, on how many flatbreads you ordered and how full you are ;)

Enjoy!

Jiko is our favorite place to eat WDW. On our last visit last December I had the Lamb shank which was fantastic. I have also had the beef tenderloin & several fish entrees over the last few years. We always start with the barbecue chicken flatbread, it is excellent. They also have an excellent wine list. Have fun.

Jiko is AWESOME! We had our Christmas Eve dinner there this past December. The only part of the meal we didn't care for was the bread. It was just weird. Other than that, everything was delicious. I highly recommend Jiko.

I think the appetizers are all very good here. The filet with macaroni and cheese is wonderful, and they know how to prepare fish well. The pistachio creme brulee is my favorite dessert on property. Definately try at least one African wine; the servers are good at determining what would pair well with your meal.

How is the sauce on the filet w/mac and cheese? I know it's a wine sauce and people say it's very good but I don't like wine flavored (beef burgundy comes to mind) food. I don't even like to drink wine while I'm eating. Does the sauce taste like wine? Can I get this without sauce?

We had a great meal there (the best during our stay). I had the maize crsuted sturgeon and absolutely loved it! However meals there tend to be slower paced than other restaurants. Which does not mean bad service, we actually had a great server who recommended a fantastic white wine to go with my fish.

Fabulous restaurant - like many others, my favorite at WDW. Great service and a unique wine list. Never had a bad meal there.

I have had the filet w/mac and cheese several times. The sauce is very good and it didn't taste specificially like wine. You can order the filet without the sauce, but you could order the sauce on the side and decide for yourself.

We were there in January. We ordered the Taste of Africa Appetizer, Filet with Mac & Cheese, Maize Crusted Sturgeon, Flourless Mocha Stack and Kenyan Coffee served in a French Press. Everything was delicious! The service was excellent. Oh, the wines were great too! I can't say enough good things about Jiko.
I think the Filet is the best steak in all of WDW! It sounds like an unusual combo but the sauce with the mac & cheese is just great. I don't think it had a very strong wine flavor, but I do like red wine, so I'm probably not the best judge of that.
I don't know if I would get the Taste of Africa again, not that we didn't enjoy it, the dipping "sauces" were wonderful. But it's a lot of bread & then they bring you the "regular" bread dish.

I loved Jiko, but really disliked Boma. I had the Filet(I ordered it without the wine sauce) with mac and cheese and the creme brulee. It was all fantastic.

Love, love, LOVE Jiko!!! Second favorite restaurant on property, and that's only because I've got serious sentimental value attached to the California Grill (it's where my wedding reception was held). Best fine dining 'value' on property in my opinion is Jiko - excellent service, good sommeliers, fabulous wait staff, food is yum-O! V&A's is superb, but IMHO overpriced and stuffy. Jiko is laid back, but definitely 'fine dining'.

We get one of the flatbreads, which ever appeals to us at the time. I usually get the scallop dish, which is fabulous - spicy though (so not for everyone, I realize). DH gets the filet & mac and cheese - best restuarant mac & cheese I've ever had (not as good as mine though... ;) )

Highly recommend it! And if you just have to have the Zebra Domes from Boma for dessert, just head over to the counter service spot at AKL - they've got them there! (been known to do that... :rolleyes1 ).
