Which would be better with 4 yo kids? I've been told that Citricos is not really kids friendly. We have reservations for 6pm. Which has been food in your opinion?

Citrico's is kid friendly in the sense that kids are certainly welcome there. However, it isn't a place where we normally see a lot of kids.
Jikos would probably be better. The food isn't as good, but once at the AKL the kids can go out the back of the lobby and get in view of some of the animals.
You've by now checked out the menus (and the childrens menus) at both, so that may sway you one way or the other.

I think Jiko's food is much better than Citricos's. Citricos to me has mediocre food that's disguised by intricate presentation. At least Jiko actually tries to serve some interesting, inspired dishes.

And Jiko, while quieter, has decor that would probably be more fascinating to kids.

Both are good and both are very kid friendly. In my opinion, you couldn't go wrong at either place.

I second this. Love, Love Jiko. I did not care for Citricos as it being nothing special for us. Me, DH and DD who is 4 years old go to Jiko every trip. We try something new each time and really enjoy the decor as well. Plus, I love trying the S African wines at Jiko.

Jiko intrigued me, but in the end I decided to make an ADR for Citrico's. It seemed like it would be difficult to get from BWI to AKL and back using Disney transportaiton.

We enjoyed the food at both very much. To answer your question, I would personally not feel comfortable with taking young children to Jiko as it is very quiet, darker and more romantic.

I love both places.

I don't find either one to be more kid-friendly than the other. They're both not the greatest places to take children. There isn't anything to occupy their interest, so I would suggest maybe bringing some coloring books or something along those lines.

Thanks for the input. I still don't know what to do with that dinner. I know the girls go do at restaurants and we will have nap in the afternoon before going but we never know with kids and I don't want to be a annoyance to other people.

You won't be an annoyance to people like myself. I don't let what others do bother me personally. I mind my own business and could care less if someone else's kid is rolling on the ground, as long as it isn't mine LOL. But seriously, you could always send your kiddies to the kids clubs @ WDW. Mine LOVED going to the Neverland club. They also went to Simbas as well but begged to go back to the NC. For piece of mind, it was the best $$$ we spent on our recent vacation. If you book with Disney you will also get a 15% off coupon to use at the clubs, which was nice as well.

Been to both and there were children at both. Citricos IMO has better food and a more relaxing atmosphere. And if you sit by the dessert station the kids would most likely be quite fascinated by the pastry chef working on his fabulous desserts, I know I was ;) Jiko was much more quiet, though both were fairly slow paced and at ease.

GL with your decision!

Just realized you have girls...I'd totally send them to the Neverland Club! They would LOOOOOVE it there. My girls watched movies (tangled had just came out that night) made all kinds of cute masks, played dress up, were gived autographed pictures of characters of their choice, etc. Heck, I wish I could go hehe.

Jiko and Citricos are my two favorite restaurants on Disney property. I've been to both many times with my kids when they were younger. I was just at both during a trip a couple weeks ago and I saw plenty of kids at each one. So, I don't think you can go wrong with either restaurant, even with kids.

However, I do echo a previous poster who suggested bringing coloring books or stickers to keep the kids occupied during what will likely be a somewhat lengthy dinner (at least 60 minutes and could be much longer if you decide to stretch it out).
