Which one should I choose for dinner? I'll be on the dining plan so price doesn't matter?

It does matter. Boma is a table service on the dining plan but Jiko is a signature dining experience which uses two table service credits on your dining plan. I haven't tried Jiko but Boma is fabulous!! :thumbsup2

Yes, Jiko takes 2 credits. I loved Boma, and I'm sure Jiko is great too. But I wasn't willing to spend the 2 credits on it because I'm a vegetarian and Boma had much more veg offerings than Jiko.

Good luck!

They are both great, and if the amount of credits you have to spend on meal doesn't matter, then decide on what type of dining experience you would like to have.

Boma, while a buffet, is fantastic. You can still have an african beer or a wonderful african wine with your dinner. The time needed will be a good hour, at least for us it is anyway, lol.

Jiko is a fine dining experience, plan a good 2 hours at least. You are not rushed here, time between courses to enjoy. The food and service are oustanding.

We love Boma, but prefer to eat at Jiko.

I prefer Jiko to Boma. I really like Boma, too, though. My meal at Jiko was an experience. The food, the ambiance, the wine, the smell, it was great! They are two very different places. Which would you prefer, sit down or buffet? Jiko is two credits, Boma one. Boma will take an hour, Jiko 90 - 120 minutes. It really depends on what you are in the mood for. Do you think I can find a zebra dome at the deli across the street from my office? I have a sudden craving... :confused3

Honestly, I would choose Boma. The soups and salads there are excellent. The best thing I had at Jiko was the duck and pork firecracker. Many of the entrees there are literally swimming in sauce and I did not like that at all. Also, we were a party of 2 and our dinner at Jiko was finished in under an hour, from seating to paying. In that time we split an appetizer, each got an entree, and split a dessert, plus had a Kenyan presspot.

You can't really go wrong with either. I am returning to both on my Sept trip. Jiko though was my favorite meal last time.

Been to both. Boma was really disappointing. Jiko was disappointing to me, but my husband's favorite restaurant.

But functionally, they are VERY different restaurants. Expect Jiko to be the type of place where lots of people order a bottle of wine and linger over dinner. (Our meal did take much longer than an hour there). Quieter (but not quiet) and a more adult (though kids are welcome).

Boma is a place filled with families. Its busy as people continually move to get more food from the buffet. If you like buffets, this is a pretty good buffet.

We ate at Jiko's on Saturday night and we loved it. We liked the atmosphere, the ambience, the quiet, and most of all the food. We too, shared a bottle of wine and lingered over dinner.
We passed Boma's on our way to Jiko's. It was extremelly noisy and did not appear to be relaxing at all.
I would return to Jiko in a moment!!!

I've never eaten at Jiko but would LOVE to try it some time. There are considerations to make...
Boma is one credit, Jiko is two. Would you mind giving up an extra credit to eat at Jiko?
Boma is a buffet. For some this is not an issue, but for others they do not care for it.

I love Boma...I love that because it's a buffet, you have more opportunity to try EVERYTHING and not just have the one plate you ordered. I can't compare food, but those I personally know have nothing but good things to say about Jiko and I'd love to try it some day.

I have never been to Jiko, and I hated Boma..I would go with Jiko.

I like them both, but I really like Boma's better. I think it's my favorite restaurant at WDW. Reading the above post ... I guess we're all different, LOL!

Jiko all the way. I didn't like Boma much, by DH liked it for the variety. However, we both agreed...Jiko is WAY better!

PS: Good wine selection with a lot of unique South African wines. :thumbsup2

Boma's Donn't think any resturant show be 2 credits. A meal is a meal.

Boma has a more african flavor to the dishes while Jiko is more moderate in terms of taste. If you have an adventurous side and want to experience the etnicity of the continent, stick with Boma. There is enough to satisfy almost anyone! If you want closer to a 5 star dining experience, then Jiko will be for you. The appy's are unique and some are really incredible! The main courses are luxuriously plated and some of them are just too good. The chefs really do justice to menu. The only downside for me and my DW were the South African wines. We tried the Merlots and while not tainted in any way, they tasted off as if they too were spiced. Maybe the casks were just too new, or perhaps they were finished with an odd fruit, but that is one area I would not venture to again. If you should get the pork, you will doubt that it is pork, because I have never had pork that was THAT GOOD!!! I would eat in either restaurant again....and again....and again!
