Jiko or Artist Point

We will be staying at AKV and I already booked our all-time favorite, Boma, as well as Sanaa. Our last night I have booked Artist Point. Should I change it to Jiko? I would love to hear from those of you who have have eaten at both restaurants... which one do you prefer? What about atmosphere? Thanks!

I give an edge to Jiko's; preferred the ambience & menu; had better service as well. That being said, Wilderness Lodge is worth seeing & we did have a nice meal at AP.

Been to both. I thought Jiko was way better than the AP. We did the DxDP and tried quite a few last year. I really like Boma as well. Sanaa was ok, but that is not my preferred style of cuisine. As for Jiko, I had complimentary cauliflower soup, flatbread app, and filet. They were all exceptional - cooked and seasoned perfectly. I had the pistachio creme brulee which was good, but I'm not a big creme brulee fan. At AP, I had the mussels, Buffalo filet, and don't remember the desert. The mussels were excellent. The filet was bland. I think the service at Jiko was probably one of the best that we have had anywhere on Disney property. AP was slow, but it is a signature dining, so I realize there are supposed to be time in between courses. But, with the dds (8,6) it was too long. Family preferred Jiko to AP. As for transportation, taking a bus to MK and boat over to WL is really cool. I think Bay Lake is cool and going over the water bridge is fun. And, if you want to take the time, after dinner, you can do the boat from WL to FW to CR - walk to MK - and bus back to AKL. I love the boat rides though. Have a great trip.

We like Jiko better than Artist Point as well. They are both good - but I wouldn't miss Jiko.

I just got back from a trip where I ate at both places (2nd time at Jiko, 1st at AP).

No contest for me, I would go with Jiko. All the food was fantastic, whereas the food at AP was hit or miss.

We've done both and they are both great dining experiences. We give the edge to AP since we're not great fans of the African flavors at Jiko.

We ate at both on our trip in September and we loved Jiko so much more than Artist Point...At Jiko the service and atmosphere was hands down better and the food was amazing, so we went back on our last night! Artist Point was good, no complaints but in my opinion it does not compare to Jiko. Even if you don't like African flavors there are so many options...the steak and flatbreads were my favorites. And the yummy bread! I could go on forever about how wonderful both our meals were there.

It kind of depends. If you're asking me which I would recommend to a first time diner at both, I would probably say Jiko. It was a special experience for us when we first ate there, and we've been back a few times since.

If you're asking me personally which I'd choose right now, I'd probably say Artist Point. We didn't have the greatest experience at Jiko on our last trip, so I think it's time to switch it up a little and go back to some old favorites in need of a revisit.

Basically, I think you're in good shape either way, but since it seems like you're staying in Animal Kingdom Lodge anyway, Jiko might be the better choice. It's nice to not have to travel to your dinner destination, and Jiko really is a great restaurant.

I would change it to Jiko. Enjoy your last evening at your resort. We are DVC owners at AKL and always end our trip with dinner at Jiko. It is so nice to just go to dinner and than walk back to your room.

Jiko but we are adventuresome,the selections and spices may be to much for some.It does have a slight edge in service and ambiance as well.

Jiko is better. From our recent trip, we found Jiko is alone among the signature restaurants in that it has actually gotten better since they brought a chef back from one of the other restaurants. We no longer eat at Artist Point.

Jiko was wonderful in May, food, service, everything. We also liked Artist Point. It is very quiet and adult compared to some of the Signature Restaurants. If you can only do one, do Jiko.
