The one restaurant I really want to eat at is Jiko (aside from Ohana which I cant get an ADR for ). I had an ADR then I cancelled it, then I rebooked it, and now i'm thinking about cancelling it again. My son will be almost 17 months at the time of the trip and i'm worried that he will be loud and ruin other patrons meals. He is usually good in restaurants, but sometimes can get a little over excited and let out some squeals.

Should I skip it until he is older?

You know your child best. We have taken our kids and been with friends when they've taken their toddlers and always had a pleasant experience. In all cases the kids were fine - we brought small toys to occupy them and I think once dh took ds outside to walk him around when he got too ancy waiting for our meal. It is signature restaurant, but its not stuffy and I've seen lots of families there.

Again you know your child best - if you think he'll make it with some toys and maybe a leg stretch I would go and enjoy yourself.

We are planning on taking my 10 month old to Jiko next month. If your DS is good in restraunts I wouldn't hesitate to take him. IMO this age is LOVELY and easy! I take my baby everywhere with me and as long as he has his momma he is content. Now, with that being said I would hesitate to bring my almost 4 year old, which is why her and her older sister will be going to Simbas ;)

They are also good for the most part but I want a evening without the girls and just DH and I. Us Mothers are entitled to a nice, quiet meal too. If he gets too antsy you could always excuse yourself and take him for a walk, etc...

The good thing about this age is that they are typically easy to restrain

Thanks! I think I will keep the reservation for now and play it by ear. We do have some other TS ADR's but none of them are signatures.

He is pretty content as long as he has his momma. But i'm not sure if all 32lbs of him is easy to restrain anymore! :lmao: Especially when i'm only 115lbs :rotfl:

The only problem I really have with him is when he wants to get down out of his high chair, he will not hesitate to tell you.

You know your child better than anyone but when we dine at quiet signatures, I do expect quiet. We go there and plop down several hundred dollars for good African wine and long conversation so we do expect an atmosphere with well behaved diners, adult and children, for the 2 hours we are spending there. Jiko, Artist Point, Yachtsman, Citricos are all quieter restaurants. Ca Grill, Narcoosees, Brown Derby and Flying Fish have a more lively atmosphere so it's more forgiving there if conversation get a little loud.

I have dined at all of the signatures hundreds of times and have seen tons of well behaved children. I would expect a parent with a happy squealing child to remove him/her from the restaurant the same as an unhappy squealing child.

I agree completely. You know your child best. If you are hesitant, there must be a reason.
When I spend the money to go to Jiko, I too want to enjoy my evening. So many of the restaurants at WDW are geared to young families, that at an expensive signature, I desire a quieter, more adult atmosphere.
That said, I went with my 4 and 6 year old grandchildren and they were super well behaved.
It is really up to the individual child and you know best.

I took my 20 month old to Jiko in October, and it went great. She even loved the food. We went a little early, not too long after the restaurant opened, and there were fewer people around. The tables are nicely spaces as well, so normal toddler chatter is not likely to bother anyone.

psst. At the end of the day, it's still disney world.
