I'm looking for info about JFK. We're from Bergen County, NJ and our flight leaves at 12 PM on a Friday. Since we've always flown out of Newark, we don't know what to expect. What time would be a safe time to leave? Approximately, how long will it take? The JFK site says it's terminal 2. Is this right and how is JFK to navigate? Thanks for your help!!!! :earsboy:

I can't help on the time it would take to drive from Bergen County to JFK, but I just wanted to reassure you that JFK is easy to navigate. You didn't say what airline you were using, so I don't know which terminal you'd need. I'm assuming you're going to be using the Belt Parkway, from the Verrazano Bridge, and the Belt has a direct exit into JFK that you can't miss. Once there, the signs with the arlines and their terminals listed are very clear. Parking/droppoff is easy, and if you use curbside check-in, it'll be a breeze.

Some people swear that JFK is a zoo, but I never found that to be so.

Good luck. I'm sure someone will be able to post with timing info for you!

JFK is no more difficult than Newark. Do a search at maps.msn.com and note the time estimate for travel from your location. There are new parking structures at the terminals which are very close-by. We usually drop bags curbside, then park,

The only compliant we have about JFK is the taxi lines are unnecessarily long. This may not effect your plans.

JFK is very easy to navigate and park (much better than it used to be) with good signage. Time spent inside with security etc. will depend on the terminal and Airline I suppose. jetBlue (the old TWA domestic terminal, # 4 I think) was very swift and professional with no hassles. Haven't been to any other terminals lately so I can't comment on terminal 2. Have a great trip! :goodvibes

Thank you all for your responses! Sorry I didn't post the airline...it's Song. We're having a van drop us off since there are 9 of us. I'm just really concerned about the traffic on a weekday morning. The van guy said originally he wanted to leave at 9:45 :earseek: That's calling it too close for me. I'd like to leave no later than 9. The traffic is so unpredictable going into the City and we will be travelling during the peak of it. I was just curious how the traffic moves. Thanks for all your help. :earsboy:

Not sure where in Bergen county you are , but I would leave at 9 AM. The cross bronx can be a parking lot and van wyck/belt can be slow. Better safe than sorry. Song terminal should be fairly slow at noon.
We live in lower westchester and figured 2 hours for JFK and almost missed the flight last year. Next 2 times we left 3 hours and got there in 1.
Have a great time we are on the noon flight to MCO on 12/23. :cool1: :cool1:
