Can I wear all of my jewelry through the security checkpoint/x-ray machine/whatever? If not, I'll put it in a bag and put it on while on the plane. Thanks!

Gotta love how little things stress you out the night before a trip!

If you've got a lot of metallic jewelry it will probably set off the metal detectors. Leave them in your carryon until you clear security would be the easiest thing to do.

You never know what is going to set the scanner off. Sometimes my watch does, sometimes it doesn't. You can leave on most rings safely, but the rest should go in your purse until after passing through security.

The more metal the greater the chance of getting physically searched. Your best bet is no jewelry. A watch wouldn't hurt. Put the jewelry on after checkpoint.

Thanks! I will wear my wedding ring to the airport, but everything else will be in my backpack until we pass security.

I travel frequently and have never had my jewelry set off the metal detector. I typically wear a necklace, earrings, ring, bracelet all 10 or 14K gold. Plus a watch (not gold).

It really depends on how sensitive the x ray is set. As I said, sometimes my small watch sets it off, sometimes it doesn't. And you must remove all jewelry if you go through the body scanner. It's easier just to take everything off except for small rings and earrings, unless you enjoy being patted down.

I've never been patted down. Some years I have had over 50 flights so lots of different airports. I've also been through the body scanner 3 times in the past year and was not asked to take my jewelry off. All I've been told is to take anything out of my pockets. One time the guard was asked to check my left arm and it was because of my watch. She lifted the sleeve and saw my watch and let me go through.

If I want to wear jewlery during my flight day, it stays in my purse until we pass the secuity checkpoint. I do usually keep my watch on, but then I attatch it to the handle of my purse. I know many frequent flyers here will tell you you will be ok wearing jewlery, but I'm not taking any chances. I have had someting as small as a gum wrapper set of the WTMD at my home airport.
