What is the difference is Jetty Park and Freddie Patrick Park? Or is there one? Is one better than the other to watch the ships sail? One more fun, more to do?
Or are they the same place?

I have only been to Jetty Park, and it is a nice afternoon.

We have only been in the March so too cold to swim, but still fun to play on the beach and playground
Great place to watch the ships leave .

I had never heard of Freddie Patrick Park, but here is what I found - it sounds like Freddie Patrick is the public boat ramp area of the port - whereas Jetty Park is actually a beach with amenities and I have been there and it's very nice:

Our three public parks provide more recreational facilities than Florida's other 13 deepwater seaports combined. There is a park here to suit everyone's style, from 35-acre Jetty Park with its beach, campground and full range of activities to quiet 4-acre Rodney S. Ketcham Park. In addition to our parks, a mile and a half of bike paths run through the Port, from the eastern boundary at Jetty Park to Freddie Patrick Park. And note that all boat-launching ramps located within the Port are free and open to the public.

Jetty Park

Jetty Park is one of the most popular recreation spots in Brevard County. Besides the 4.5 acre family beach with its designated areas for swimming and surfing (lifeguards on duty year round), one of this park's best-loved features is the 1,200 foot Malcolm E. McLouth Fishing Pier - open 24 hours, paved, lighted, equipped with fish-cleaning tables with running water and fully accessible to the physically challenged. Specially designed beach wheelchairs give access both to the beach and pier. A recently renovated and expanded building on the boardwalk houses an air-conditioned refreshment center and a bait and tackle shop.
Jetty Park also contains a 126-site campground with options from rustic tent areas to full RV hook-ups.
There are fees for day parking and camping at Jetty Park. For cars, day parking is $10.00. Camping fees range from $25 to $47, depending on the utilities included and the season. For campground or picnic pavilion reservations, call 321-783-7111.[

Freddie Patrick Park
This 10-acre park is located in the center of the Port's south side. You may enjoy its facilities, including covered picnic tables and boat-launch ramps, at no charge.

We went to Jetty Park last May to watch the ships leave, it will cost you $10 to enter the park. The pier was nice to walk on, we just looked around. It takes the ships a long time to get to the park. We wanted to watch the Fantasy leave (we were leaving in Sunday). We waited and waited, then we ended up leaving the park and driving to a restaurant along the port to eat. Halfway through our meal the Fantasy was finally sailing by. Great views of the ship as we watched it from the deck area of the restaurant.

We liked the restaurant idea a lot better than the park, nice cold beverage and food as we waited.

Ya, that is what we are wanting to do is watch the ships. So I am thinking that just going over to Freddie Park may be the better choice since we won't have to pay to get in. But we may change our minds and go with Jetty. So what time exactly do the ships generally pass through? I been on two of them, but never really took note.

When there are 3 ships in port they can start around 4, disney normally leaves at 5. I love Jetty Park and if we get to Cape Canaveral a couple of days early we normally go there if ships are in port. Love the beach, and walking out to the end of the pier is nice. You see all kinds of fish, turtles, dolphins, manatees and last time we saw a shark that a fisherman caught in the channel. Also note The $10 is per vehicle not per person.
