Jetted Tubs in DVC Villas

I have stayed in about every category of Villa, at every resort in WDW and none of them and I mean NONE of them were clean (the jetted tubs). I did try to clean it with bleach and vinegar one time, but gunk kept on and kept on coming out. We never use them, avoid them like the plague.

Pools only bother me because I know there's a chance someone is peeing in it while I'm in there. I only can go in them because I know they load them up with chemicals.

And for what it's worth, I'd be inclined to think that a public hot-tub is FAR worse than an in room jacuzzi that gets filled with fresh water each time you use it.

I can deal with hot tubs if I can really smell the chlorine. The smell of bleach makes me feel safe.

See, this is what I don't understand. It's not a hard thing to do, PITA maybe, but not hard. When they turn the rooms over, why can't the first thing they do is fill the jet tubs and add some bleach to clean it out and then let it run while they clean up the rest? It's like when you go to the nail salon and they use the little spa for your feet. When they're done with my feet, I always see them drain the water, add bleach and run it again so it's clean.

I'm always disturbed about silverware at restaurants. I know its sterilized but I think of the thousands of mouths my salad fork has entered and it is mildly terrifying. I learned analyzing can be a dangerous character trait if taken too far.:goodvibes

Fill tub, add bleach and/or dishwasher detergent. Run for 10 minutes if nothing visible drain. Fill again and rinse. If gunk comes out drain call housekeeping. They will use a cleaner in the jets. The smell is strong so you may want to call just before leaving the room for a while.

THanks for the info....good to keep in mind. I think I'll pack a dishwashing tablet in my bag in Oct. Better safe than sorry.

I usually run it with dishwasher detergent while I'm unpacking, then drain and refill with bleach water and let it run some more. I've never seen anything come out, but at least I know it's been thoroughly cleaned. If I did see stuff coming out, you can bet housekeeping would get a call!
